I’ve been wondering if we’re going to have a Halloween event this year as they said Living world wouldn’t restart until the WvW tournament finishes
It’d be a shame if we missed the Halloween event as they’re the best each year..

They already said we would.

Just so you know – it’s coming but they still need to work on the leaderboards.

Later in October, we’ll be bringing back our famous Halloween festivities! Blood and Madness will be returning to Guild Wars 2 on October 21 and remain active until the return of Season 2.

Last but certainly not least, Season 2 is returning on November 4! Make sure to log in and participate in the continuation of Living World Season 2.

The Halloween event follows Mad King Thorn, which is part of the lore of Tyria. Just as Wintersday is.

SAB is part of the lore of Tyria now, too, and fits just as well with the living story as any of those things.

(Note: and I don’t even like SAB.)

the question is, will they follow their route from the last events and make halloween-skin availabel from an npc ? will we see the ghastly shield and the chainsaw again ? i mean they did that with the skins from older updates, maybe they are doing it with the halloween-skins now too

i really really hope that they don’t recycle the old skins.

as someone who knows the value of unobtainable items i grinded for months to save enough money to buy greatsaw, (i’ve been pretty poor ever since)
if they bring it back then it would very likely be the final straw for me.

You do know that it being a “rare” skin does not really make it at all “prestigious”, right? I get that you want it to remain “rare” and hard to obtain, but make no mistake that I can pull out my CC and slap that skin on a LVL 10 Bronze Greatsword whenever I want.

That “special” feeling you have running around with it is ALL in your head, and there is nothing wrong with that as long as you don’t ACT like you performed some great feat to obtain it.

I actually hope they won’t make the event like last year – with basically unkillable mobs and no loot – man that was fun being alone in that labyrinth a day after launch.

I vote for MK to take over the rest of the Living World season.

Regurgitated events from last year grind fest (when the first year was perfectly fine). No scavenger hunt, no Mad King mini dungeon, and probably still no return of Reapers Rumble (no communication why it was taken out last year). Also the father and son rivalry thing (last year blood and madness) was executed with bickering dialog, with no real physical conflict between them. Now the only question is where will this take place in (always remind you of our terrible go at creating a personal nemesis: Scarlet) burned down LA or somewhere else?

They made the content with full intents and purposes of reusing it. Even in GW1 teh festivals were largely the same year after year. Calm down its just a festival. Its not the end of the world as you know it.

They also kept things practically the same for those who did not experience the first time around (while adding new stuff). The problem with that line of thinking is they did add something every year for Halloween and Wintersday in GW1. They also kept things practically the same for those who did not experience the first time around (while adding new stuff). But the events themselves were largely the same. Also, Year 1 to Year 2 Halloween was drastically different form itself. While year 1 and year 2 Wintersday was generally the same with some new rewards. I think that this year Halloween will be much like last year but of course a new reward or two and most likely bringing back ways to get some of the other rewards. Like the rare recipe weapon skins.

Truth be told we don’t know what will be the same or be different. All we can do is wait for it to come out.

And it will still be as bad/good as it was the previous two years. Your mileage is almost certain to vary.

Totally looking forward to getting my hands on more Mad King transformative tonics.

If it will be like the first one great, if it will be like the one last year they might aswell not bother.

I have to say that I am somewhat dreading the Halloween event and not because of skins; it is mostly due to events. Last year they took away a couple of events like Reaper’s Rumble and Ascent to Madness. They could have kept reaper’s rumble and at the least make an ascent to madness specialized to his son last year. Not only this but they put a lot of effort in the first year of Halloween with the scavenger event and learning Mad King Thorn’s past which they did not do much of in the second year with the son. It was like Halloween was an after thought what with the son’s event being over in 20 minutes.

What I would like to see and probably won’t would be adding those lost events back in the game, putting back the candy corn nods in the maps to make it look more festive or something similar to them, adding another or new Jumping puzzle in the mix that you have to access through 1 of 2 ways one being beating the mad clock tower or a second way being completing some other Halloween events to unlock it. I would love it if they made NEW armor skins that you can make for Halloween.

Ah well guess we’ll find out soon enough.

2. there are only 18 remaining on the TP,
as each one sells the price goes higher and higher.
i’d wager there are less than 100 in total in banks waiting to be sold, and there are hundreds of thousands of players.
once they’re gone they’re gone.

they are far more prestigious than these “legendary” weapons you’ll see 20 people standing around with in the cities.

but lets face it, they’ll probably ruin it and trivialize the halloween skins just like everything else.

Famous huh? The second year one is probably famous only for the amount of grind needed, removal of existing content/minigames, and small story mission. They should have brought back the first years instead.

Exactly. All it shows is that you can either buy it with irl money or grinded/played the tp to get it. You did nothing spectacular to get it. Skins should never be completely discontinued. It screws over anyone that wants to get one, especially new players.

This too. Getting lucky with a rare RNG drop doesn’t make it more prestigious. You just happen to have one of the good accounts. There are a lot of people that farmed the crap out of stuff like the Molten Facility and Aetherblade bases trying to get those skins (jetpack and monocle) and didn’t get jack for it (all due to the kitten RNG), while there are those that got it on the first run and never ran the dungeons again.

Full intent on reusing it, yet they removed a bunch of stuff from it. Holiday stuff should only be added to, like they did in GW1 holidays.

I don’t understands this mentality; it seem pretty selfish to me. Why shouldn’t new players get the option to grind for some of the cools stuff? Recycling doesn’t change the fact that you already grind’d for the items and this time you can grind for something different. What are we 3 years old, nah nah I have something you don’t have. Makes no sense.

I don’t understands this mentality; it seem pretty selfish to me. Why shouldn’t new players get the option to grind for some of the cools stuff? Recycling doesn’t change the fact that you already grind’d for the items and this time you can grind for something different. What are we 3 years old, nah nah I have something you don’t have. what is the selfish bit?
new players have just as much ability to grind their butts off for months and months to get a little bit of the past as any of us.
i failed to get it from a chest so i did the long grind.

lets pretend you spent months farming for something, because few people have it and you want your character to have something special (there are very few special things left in the game), finally your months of work are over and….they add an easy way for everyone to get the (now commonplace) item that you wasted months acquiring.

to say “oh thats selfish!” is the real thing that makes no sense,
when you spend months of your free time grinding to obtain something special and then it has all of its value torn away, everyone would feel exactly the same as i will if they recycle it.

luckily the datamined halloween notes don’t indicate a recycle.

No. Every time I hear the “prestige” argument, it’s basically saying: “I got this, now I don’t want anyone else to have a chance at it!” Selfish, petty, stupid.

You know what’ll be good? A Halloween event that brings back the old content and has new content as well. Unfortunately, after how they screwed up the last Blood and Madness, I have no hopes for this one.

Datamining has indicated we’ll be getting new content (mostly in new gem store items and a potential new festival token), although that doesn’t rule out old stuff coming back. Recent trends have shown that ANet has now embraced the approach of releasing old content (probably because they’ve seen they’re still big sellers).

The prestige skins would work at only ONE way;
=> Get the basic skin not That hard, then use Craft to upgrade it more brutal look.

Otherwise you can farm kitten a legendary that no smart man respects.
