Map completion is too hard, so no.
Its not up to me… I did my part. The stupid system (RNG as a main mechanic, loldesign) has to do its part now.
I don’t want to work hundreds of hours in a video game for something that was not worked on and lazily placed in RNG. If they ever (really) implement precursors ingame as a reward for anything, I’ll play (note keyword, play) my hundreds to get it.
No. Legendaries are a poorly designed and executed concept. If I was ever in possession of a legendary, I would vid myself deleting it and post it on youtube. No achievement, no medal, no AP, just pure deletion.

I can understand if you do it multiple times, but complete it at least once. It’s not hard, it’s time consuming.

If you think completing hearts, walking near POI and viewing vistas is hard, then you have a problem.
For the amount of time and money, I couldn’t believe there isn’t a title for the legendary category. And no, I don’t want a title for one, but for finishing out the category. I’ve made meteorlogicus, and day by day I’m earning gold for the bifrost precursor, which is pretty much the last thing I need (aside from 15 obsidian shards and 42 glob, and I refuse to gamble with the mystic forge beyond throwing in staffs that I find).
The cost of precursors increased after the farm fest. 800-900 gold is just insane, but I’ll do it anyway

Is it easier if I make a draw to explain it to you?
COLSEY WAS BEING SARCASTIC,
you didn’t get it.
As you didn’t get my comment on your failed sarcasm detector.
No, I wasn’t being sarcastic at all.
I genuinely find it challenging fighting off the boredom of doing map completion to the point that I actually sold my precursor, bought Entropy, Foefire’s Essence, scholar runes and some pieces of T3 cultural instead.
I think that I will have it eventually even though I’m only “passively” working on it. I don’t farm for it except maybe a couple champ runs around Frostgorge, but I do whatever catches my fancy that day. I accumulate gold and mats and every once in a while I check out the wiki page for the moot and make things like ingots and clovers. I think if I keep going this way, and not spend my mats on anything else, the only thing that could cause me to not get a legendary is major changes to the crafting process or if I quit the game.
I’m never going to get a legendary, mainly because I will never receive a precursor due to the RNG that is complete and utter garbage. I’ve never looted an item that could sell for more than 2 gold. World completion is incredibly time consuming as well, but I may get around to that in a month or so.
Map completion is too hard, so no.
I completed map for the 2nd time it’s not really that hard, needed more Gift of Exploration to make my third legendary.

If a precursor drops for me, I might work on it but I am in the same boat as Galtrix; but I have had Exotics drop, 1-2x/month. The Exo’s are mostly weapons that do not fit the build I am playing. I am working very casually on Ascended weapons since they are gated by time and availability of mats; a terrible investment to me.
I don’t like the aesthetics of any of the legendaries, so I made a choice never to grind one out. If I ever changed my mind about that, I’d probably transmute the looks to something else anyway.
When I can craft or get my precursor without gambling I’ll make one, other than that, no. My ascended GS will do just fine.

I find it hard.
After close to a year, I have everything but the precursor. Precursor prices are constantly going up and are ridiculous already, and RNG hates me with a passion, so.. no. I won’t be getting one.
Not at this rate. Getting crafting to 500 is already taking a lot of my mats.
In my case no… not because of the farm… not because of the time… but because none of the current legendaries really interest me, or fit any of my characters in the first place.
If I ever went farming for a weapon, it’d probably be one of the cooler looking exotics… my guardian has been asking me to get him the foefire weapons forever, for example..
I was 80% of the way to Meteorlogicus, then they “upgraded” it. I have since sold my accumulated t6 materials, ectos, etc.
alreydi make 6 legenderis for sale. 1 one was in october.
No. Legendaries are useless weapon skins that aren’t actually weapon skins that cost time and money better spent elsewhere.
Yes. Working on my fifth atm.
I didn’t even know there was one assigned to me. Now that I know that I probably won’t get it anyway because I’m not going to go look for it.
I was working towards incinerator for a week and after i realized that was the least fun week i had in gw2 i gave up. And i hadnt even started map completion. But I’d really like to have incinerator so kitten
The legendaries are the ugliest weapons in the game so i have no idea why anyone would like one for any other reason than to sell(or well transmuting and then using for free stat change is pretty good too)
No because doing pve is to hard. Need map completion and Arah to finish the Bitfrost. Wvw is so much fun I do not want to leave it.
Btw consider mystic forging for the dusk. I talked to one my my guildies that sells precursors weekly (yes he has thousands of gold). He said it takes an average of 200 attempts per precursor using rares (0.5% chance at a precursor). Two hundred 40s rare greatswords. So you can save up ~320g to do one attempt for the dusk/dawn or you can save up 800g to buy it.
That was how I got The Legend which I never intended to buy. I just wanted to see if I could craft a precursor, so was trying multiple different rare and a 4 staff forge payed off. The Legend cost me 220g(saved 580g) but using the mystic forge is RNG so you could fail or get it on the first try.
No, I’m still at the “bridge” between exotic and legendary (boy, was that a crappy choice of a sound byte — more of a wall than a bridge). I’d have been happy to run elite instances like FoW and UW for a small chance at a unique skin. I’m not interested in the social game collection mini-game plus lottery-style RNG that is GW2’s current direction for the most prestigious skins. I am also uninterested in the massive expense and/or investment in time needed to do a BiS regear for 47 weapons and (sooner or later) 48 armor pieces.
nah in wvw having a legendary is like having a giant arrow above your head with sign: “I did a lot of pve, please kill!”
Yes as they are really easy to get, just time consuming, and if I were patient enough I would have 4 legendaries instead of 2.
Time to time I get bored and spend it on gearing another class, crafting weapons such as volcanus, eye of rodgort, anomaly, stygian blade etc etc out of pure boredom, I am happy with the skins, but later on I think, kitten I set myself ~200 gold back on my legendary, again…
And my time spent in PvE is minimal, I just do the dailies/monthlies and living story achievements, most of the gold comes from WvW. (Id also like to point out that the post above is stupid.)
Even if there was no precursor I wouldn’t get a legendary. Way too much mindless cash spending or grinding. If they had made it based on actual achievements I’d be happy to do it, but just blowing a bunch of gold on the AH for materials? Forget it.
I would but I can’t, and here’s why:
I am not willing to spend 800g for a precursor (dusk), it is an unreasonable amount when people have spent less than half that amount when the game was newer. I’ve been playing since release. It used to be 10g if you can believe it.
I have enough mats/gold to probably craft two legendary, the problem is I can’t get the kitten precursor.
Right now I have 433g and probably 70% of all the mats needed for twilight, but I doubt I’ll ever actually make it unless they allow us to craft precursor by the end of this year. Like I said, I’m not going to spend 800g on a precursor, it’s simply way too much to spend on something that is purely RNG luck and requires no effort or skill to attain.
I have 1200 hours played and I still don’t have legendary simply because RNG is a terrible mechanic. I have put 200g into the mystic forge, and probably another 200g in purely farmed mats and what did I get for it? Nothing. Cuz this game SUCKS.
Yeah, if we still can’t craft precursor by end of year I’ll be giving all my mats/gold to some random lucky newb that I see in LA. Then I’ll be uninstalling this bad game.

No, I won’t.
Like I have said several times, there is nothing “legendary” about them. So I will never grind for one. Buying one or playing the lottery to get one is not legendary. I don’t care if you grinded and farmed for months and gambled in the mystic forge for yours. Whether you bought it or “worked” for it, there is nothing legendary about it.
It is insulting to call them legendary in the first place. Legendary. It’s right there in the name. Legend. Which none of these weapons have. There is no story behind them or epic chain of events/quests that you have to do to obtain them. You don’t learn any lore from it either. There is no legend behind these weapons. They are just glorified skins is all.
Sorry but you should never have to sit there spending hundreds of gold to craft materials for this, gambling in the mystic forge for materials, gambling again in the forge for a precursor or hoping for a lucky RNG drop of the exact one you want, just to make one of those weapons. There should be some epic chain of events, storyline, even a personal story for each, to explain the “legend” behind the legendary. And then you obtain it in the end or find the pieces to reforge it.
So until they actually make these “legendary” weapons have actual legends and stories behind them to play through, then no I will never grind for one. The way they are implemented now is one of the worst design decisions they could of made.
I have a funny story about making my legendary (Which I don’t have)
I had everything ready in material form meaning no gifts yet I was waiting for a precursor I have spent 350g in the Mystic Forge to no avail.. oh and I haven’t finished world completion because it’s boring as kitten was hoping the Precursor would motivate me so anyway after 350g I gave up sold all the mats bought T3 armors and a Volcanus NO REGRETS!
I already have Sunrise and The Juggernaut. I’m casually doing map completion atm while waiting for new ones to come out. I really want a scepter and a focus, and Meteorlogicus and The Minstrel looks terrible.
I just got my howler last night =D was wicked excited.
I’d love a legendary but every day it seems like a longer goal due to prices rising and stuff like that. I have a bunch of the requirements like map completion but getting a precursor seems like a pipe dream as well as gathering all the materials/gold for the other stuff. Doesn’t mean I’ll never try but I don’t really see a legendary as a realistic goal anytime soon.
(I actually never expected to get Obsidian Armor in the first game due to it essentially being this game’s version of Legendary weapons but I eventually did, which is why I think a Legendary weapons could happen eventually).
Gambling for a precursor or saving almost every copper in order to buy the one you want or need is a huge turn off for me regarding the legendary hunt.
I have not had a single precursor drop after 3735 hours. I have tossed a few items in the Mystic Forge but I will not invest in that avenue as my luck in real life and online has always swayed to the bad side.
I have made three Ascended weapons thus far and I will be on my way to a forth before long. The effort involved in making Ascended weapons seems to be just right in my opinion and even though I have had to focus on it while ignoring other aspects of the game at least I have results to show for it.
alreydi make 6 legenderis for sale. 1 one was in october.
I was aiming for “Sunrise” however the moment I gathered everything that was required for crafting one I realized that there was nothing legendary about it. Instead I sold all the T6 mats, bought Charged lodestones and crafted Mjölnir cause I thought it was much more fitting to my main character name (Thor Thunderstorm) than some weapon I was probably never going to use. Not to mention that these days almost everyone has a legendary. That’s of course alright but how can something be legendary if there are at least five out of ten people in LA that have one?
Feels much more legendary to me
(edited by holodoc.5748)
For me i think i can get it even tho the dusk is so dang overpriced lol.
I would like to applaud the can-do mentality here. I think there are a lot of people who look at a precursor and think to themselves that they can’t get one, so they resort to throwing away their money in the mystic forge.
For me, it just seems to make the most sense to strive to obtain the most difficult part first when making a legendary. In general, the precursor is the single most expensive piece of a legendary, and its price is usually the most volatile/at the whims of market forces.
There are a lot of people who have prepared everything for their legendary except the precursor, then lamenting about never getting the precursor. This is like climbing 1 flight of stairs every day, but then lamenting that you will never be able to climb Everest. To climb Everest, you must train to climb Everest. To get a precursor, you must focus your energy on getting a precursor, not the little stuff that’s easy to get. Honestly, I’d say look at your sellable materials. Watch the precursor market for dips and good buys. Sell your material for good prices. Yes, even the ones that normally go into your Gifts of Might and Magic, etc. Wait for your precursor to hit a good dip. Get your precursor. Because if you can climb Everest, you can climb a flight of stairs. If you can climb a flight of stairs, doesn’t mean you can climb Everest.
Best wishes to those who have seriously committed to making their legendary!
“Will you ever get your legendary?”
Nope.
Never say never, but no time soon. The hard part for me is grinding all the gold for gift of fortune. I like ascended weapons (and will do the armor too when it comes) because you can just go and collect all the things yourself, which is what I like to do. But the thousands of bones, teeth, etc really only come from the TP. Grind gold, buy mats, grind gold, buy mats, grind gold, buy mats. Not fun.
I honestly prefer to remain ignorant of the numbers because I find when I know that stuff and am always trying to maximize my time to get the most money, I enjoy the game much less then when I just run around doing random things that I feel like doing at the moment.
Edit: Should add that I already have the precursor for the weapon I would make, if I made one. And I have everything else for it too – the dungeon tokens, enough ecto, world completion… just not the mats. It just wouldn’t be worth it to me to sink all that gold into it.
(edited by Lalocat.6793)
I wasn’t trying for a legendary, but once I realised I had accumulated pretty much 90% of the materials I needed for it anyway, plus had several hundred gold not doing much.. well I decided why not?
Only significant effort came in the form of learning the dungeon path (CoE for me), and once I had that covered it’s literally only a few days with a couple path runs per day. Last ditch effort was selling a significant portion of my mats to afford the 100 lodestones, and done..
Of course I was lucky to buy my precursor for ~130g but if a scavenge hunt is coming to be able to make them, I certainly see it as possible for most people who play daily..
If I get the right precursor by luck, I might consider doing so (I have a fair share of the mats needed anyway). But I see no need in farming my lower back off, playing the AH, or buying gold, just to do so.
I play for fun, I don’t play if I have no fun. Grinding is no fun for me. So it would contradict itself.
Someday hopefully…
But the current one I dislike mostly all, find them ugly..
I wait for new legendary weapons to be implemented, which hopefully look more awesome and epic with fitting names for a thief
Also precursors must definetely get more accessible, by becoming able to craft them.
They are just stupid exotic weapons .. or gainable through specific items being thrown together into the mystic forge and gettign then as 100% sure result out of it a precursor…
They should also implement other new ways of getting mystic clovers, other then wasting only tons of coins, ectos, obsi shards and skill points in the mystic forge.
Mystic Clovers should be also rewards for example in world boss chests, WvW world chests, dungeon chests, rarely champion loot bags and so on, so that you have multiple ways that the player can decide on, how they want to collect the required amount of 77 mystic clovers for that one item that is needed to create the legendary weapon, this “destiny” item …
Just collecting for all kinds of T6 mats a full stack is already grind enough as like too a stack of ectos… Sure, if you have more than enough of money, you could just buy you from everythign the stacks, but after that you are basically totally poor…
250 ectos alone with currently 30silver 1 ecto would be 75 Gold.
Takes some time, until you’ve played that amount together, even now with dungeosn givign alot more gold.
Sooner or later will everyone have all the mats for the first legendary.
However, as logn theres no legendary that actually looks good to me and interests me, I don’t care for them.
You can play the game also absolutely fine with exotic weapons and alot of them do actually look alot better, than most of all the current legendary/ascendant weapons
I’m just not a legendary person. If I got a precursor that one of my guys could actually use, I’d use it. In the meantime, here’s my sylvari guardian and her soon to be legendary greatsword, ‘Snow Plough’ which is going to be legendary because of all the legendary things she’s going to do with it, not because she grinded her bark off to get it.
I will get my legendary I hope – if I get lucky with RNG or the Mystic Forge. I don’t know why but I have some kind of block that says, if I don’t get the precursor myself then I don’t want the legendary. Weird I know…but I won’t be buying a precursor off the TP so unless I get it as a drop or from the forge, I won’t get a legendary. If I did get the precursor though, it would definitely give me a reason to start logging in regularly again.
If I ever got a legendary I would sell it that instant… But I would wait to get one until or if there will be a neat looking Legendary, as for now all Legendaries are ugly and I could care less about bragging rights or one teeny achievement.
In ways of gold I am far far away from a Legendary but even so I wouldn’t wanna buy a Legendary out of TP even if it was neat.
No. Or better answer: Not anytime soon.
A – I’m too lazy and have no time to get 100% map completion
B – I’m an unlucky guy – never ever got a precursor. lol. I’m not mad nor disappointed though.
C – I’m not working on it.
