Just want to say love the wings (even though i was late to get them) and I wanted to ask if there will be any other kinds of wings comming(like fairy,dragon etc).
I know we have the holographic ones but they are small, I’d like more big epic wings.

We need the “simple character model” option to hide backpacks too, not just armor and facial/body appearance. I actually wish it would also replace weapons with placeholders, so it would truly be a simple character model.

Then, no matter what kind of garrish wings people are using, it wouldn’t bother anyone else.

Since this item was a teaser of “future items”, I would say there’s a very high chance that those wings are a backpack skin which will replace the default glider skin in Heart of Thorns.

A certain portion of people who liked the more or less realistic medieval style of GW2 doesn’t like the wings. A certain portion of people who doesn’t like overused items also doesn’t like the wings.

At the same time, a certain portion of people who wanted more fantasy stuff in their fantasy game (but did not want to play “Korean grinders” for a lot of reasons) love the wings and want more of this stuff.

According to the insane spike of gem-to-gold exchange rate on the day of the sales, the portion of players who love those wings is considerably, considerably larger.

Some time ago, the Gem Store had a lot of silly items that were eventually removed from the game (around December 2013) for being too silly and not really fitting to the world of GW2. So enough people complaining about something can actually remove it from the store, if not from the game.

In this case, we don’t have to remove the wings and other ugly backpacks from the store. Since we already have an option to not see players’ armors and facial features, it should be expanded to not include backpack as well.

No its not. from my experience – wings clutter my screen, i want them hidden, I’m already playing on lowest culling settings not to see other players but their flashy legendaries and those disgusting wings are shown anyway

My bad, sorry. And yes I agree there should be a basic character model option for slower pc’s or if you hate the way others look etc…

Dyeable wings would be epic. I want white and gold wings to be added.

I’d like an upgraded version of teq wings with a darker color and no holes in it. “White feathered Wings” would also be awesome as well.

I find it funny how, for a while now, we have had huge weapons and backbacks in the game, but everyone seems to be screaming and shouting about the wings in particular. Maybe its the width that does it.

Personally I have no problem at all with other players having the wings, or giant backpacks, or colossal weapons. However, I also have nothing against an option to hide these things, so long as it doesn’t affect other players at all, which is what I think most people are asking for in their round about sort of way.

Are we gonna get withe wings to so we can get true Aion flashback ?

The only wings I want in this game are on a Tengu.

And my Dragon Bash holographic wings.

Well, it’s nobody’s fault but your (general “you” here) own if you missed the part of the announcement where it said the wings were not limited to a single day sale and bought them “just in case”.
It’s also nobody’s fault if you bought them and now get irritated because “everyone has those, it’s boring”. Because frankly, if your biggest worry is that you might wear the same thing as somebody else, your issues are bigger than a pair of wings in a video game…

And judging by the amount of people rocking those wings (myself included), it’s not most players who feel about them this way^^

I never had a problem with the look of the wings…….just that way, way too many people were wearing them…..made everyone look identical no matter what sort of armor they were wearing.

Immersion breaking is a personal opinion thing and should never be an argument for game changes as every player has their own opinion and your is worth no more than mine.

Wings actually do have a lore based place in GW2 as murals of dwayna show her as having wings, potentially even black wings. Additionally the Largos(while only having a small lore parts) also have wings though they are entirely aquatic.

However I do feel that the basic models setting should be just that and have a basic armor set, no back piece, and the basic weapon skins for every character except your own. If you hate the wing skin that much your willing to see every single other player as basically the same that is a fair trade. Obviously this would also make the the most effective for players using it because of having a low end computer.

That would actually make sense if the wings were only shown when hang gliding. If that’s the case, then I’m all for them.

Otherwise, meh. I guess I’m not the target audience for them.

I wanna “moving” wings of shadow dragon, wyvern and largos. I like those black they are stift and it fits.

I’m exactly like the author of that video. I bought the wings as an impulse purchase because of the times and because I thought they would look super sweet. But merely minutes after buying the wings and running around with them between the other dozens of winged people in WvW I already felt remorse and asked myself: “why the heck did I buy these?”

I guess Anet’s tactic worked on many of us and I wonder how many of us who bought the wings feel the same way as me and the author of the video.

To be honest, I wish we could hide backpacks in the simple character models, but I REALLY wish we could silence the annoying slave-tron backpack. That robot voice repeating the same few things over and over is extremely annoying.

I wish they would sell the Shatter wings. I accidentally deleted mine before the Wardrobe feature came out.
