Winterwonderland JP makes me furious

This is more about presents getting triggered by other people (and even worse by the bug if people jump on the wrong lane)
Charrs with trench coats. Enough said.
RIP City of Heroes
Jump as soon as the one present spawns and you normally will not have any issues.

And those giant, view-blocking wings.

Strange… I have more proplem with giant norn males in full heavy armor. -.-
What makes me more furious, is that sometimes you simply just can’t get into the JP, and you get thrown back to Divinity’s Reach. (Even when you just logged in after 12 hrs).
I can wait for presents to respawn and start jumping, what I cannot deal with are the invisible snowballs, that throw you off when you are almost at the end. I can try and estimate if the snowball just passed by or not, but the balls thrown by the skritts aren’t always landing in the same time before/after the giant snowball has passed.
One thing about players with large characters is that you can learn to ignore them. Your character is always at a certain location on your screen. You can eventually get used to jumping with other players and jump based on where that location on your screen is.

The problem is at the presents how ever. Where you have to make that max distance jump. Normally I’m pretty good and jumping. But on occasion I do miss that jump because a bunch of over sized people are obscuring where the platform ends.
The problem is mostly attributed to the presents being bugged. You shouldn’t be making a max distance jump. There are those blue presents there for a reason. But ever since they let the jumping puzzle be running at a constant instead of rounds like the clock tower, it’s been like that.

You know what would have been awesome for this JP? A setting that changes all the models of other players to a standard model, so there wouldn’t be any issues of overweight Charrs and Norns blocking your view.
And then it could be called “Standard Enemy Models”.
Oh, wait, it exists. It just doesn’t work for the Wintersday JP.
>:(

Perv !
Or just make the jp a fun thing but not a requirement, it’s the last thing I need to do to get the winter’s presence skin, however while I’m playing on a laptop with 13 fps at most, with all the settings on minimum, I can tell you this is impossible. I don’t have enough frames to be able to direct my jump in time.
Now, luckily for me, this is because I’m on my laptop for the holidays, and when I get back to my pc I will do it. But some players always play on a kittenty system, have some pity and make it that just participating in the puzzle 3 times counts? It’s the holiday season after all…
Yeah, I tend not to have issues with the snowflakes…
Although the occasional Charr or Norn sometimes overlaps my character and makes it hard to judge a jump.
It’s the worst at the presents section. I will always wait until the platform is completely empty before jumping. I’m fine with Asura, but anything larger, or anyone with wings is just completely distracting. I always misjudge the present jump if silly Charr are around. I think they should be banned.
As an alternative… it would make things so much easier if all other players were invisble/had their model standardised to something small.
Additionally, I really hate those gusts of wind. I find it really difficult to keep an eye on the snowman, when I’m desperately trying to avoid the Skritt and the giant snowballs. It’d be nice if the gusts had a more obvious tell. Or if the wind could be removed completely, I’d be happier.

You only have to worry about the snowman that’s waiting right after the presents, the second snowman at the corner only blows people off if they get too high, but you don’t need to get that high to avoid the snowball.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Ok this makes sense.
I wondered why I got inconsistently blown of the disc.
I’m always scared of the snowballs, so I go high up the peppermint disc just to make sure… That’s probably why.
Still, a stupid obstacle
Thanks for the tip.

Bugged? They’re just the last to spawn. The only reason you don’t see them is because there are people farming the JP unlike last year. If you get used to where your character is on the screen, you can make that jump, just like any other, even if there is a norn or charr blocking your view.
Finally I did it. For me the Gingerbread path was the easiest. After a week of trying and failing Quaggan I got to the end of the Gingerbread snowflake path within an hour of trying. Then an hour or two of getting the packages part and snowball dodging worked out.

Over dramatic much? Jeez Louise. I think you should be banned for having multicolored armor, it’s distracting.

No, billowing trench coat or robes on supersized Norns and Charr really makes it difficult to see the landing area for small snow flakes or the presents. I end up waiting for several resets just to avoid Norn and Charr at the present stage. At least ANet turned off backpacks cause wings would be horrible.
Few build dainty Norns and Charr.

They are legitimately bugged. It’s a legacy thing from the first Wintersday. It only happens from the Gingerbread path. When the wave of crumbling snow flakes reaches the end of that path a cluster of presents right in the middle pop. This is how it worked in the original JP when you reached the end from any path, so the safest way was always to go to the line third from center on the left side.
Since I only use the Gingerbread path, on account of being the easiest and fastest of the three paths, I always aim for the safe line by default. Anyone trying to run up the middle can experience any number of issues, though.

Oh. I knew one of the lanes caused the presents to start popping prematurely without a player needing to hop on them first. When I read their post, I took it as them saying that the blue gifts can bug and don’t spawn period regardless as to which path someone is jumping.

The sarcasm is lost with this one
I just feel Charr don’t belong in civilised society in general. Let alone polluting the jumping puzzle.
In all seriousness, I just wish they made every other character into a small, non-vision-obscuring model.
