Wishlist for future Expansions
Bullet point list:
- Tengu as the next playable race
- Zones that run the gamut of level ranges. Loot and level scaling make this an ideal decision for this game and make leveling the new Tengu Race feel more fresh.
- Tons of different zone climates and differences. Give us map variety not only in appearance but also in the way content is made for each map. They all need to feel unique in both presentation and in terms of what we are doing in them.
- Dungeon Rework. We have existing instances. They need to be reworked to better fit today’s GW2.
- Tying up loose story ends. Magdaer? Rytlock and Sohothin? Livia? Anise? Will we get endings from George R.R. Martin before GW2 writers tie up side stories?
- This one’s a big deal for me if you are charging 50 bucks again: At least 75% as much earnable armor and weapons as in the base game at launch. The absolute lack of that in HoT was one of many reasons I didn’t buy HoT.
- New Cultural Weapons and Armor paid for in exactly the same way as the originals. Add in Cultural gliders earned the same way as well. If I am purchasing an expansion with money, I want the bells and whistles to go with it like in the base game. I don’t want this stuff Day one on the gem shop. It’s a gross tactic.
- The rest of the Legendary Weapons we were supposed to be getting in 2013. Just release them already for the love of all things good. I’ll be frank: The way you guys put these behind a paywall when you were going to release them prior to even thinking you were ever going to do an expansion was an obnoxious tactic.
500 jewelcrafting is -BADLY- needed! Condi builds is overly punished in getting their bis trinkets, far too easy for power builds to pick up theirs.
My wish.
Don’t put any mastery points on adventures. Those are too dependent on ping and other factors outside player control. Give them achievement points and some small reward but don’t tie character/account progression to them.
ANet may give it to you.
For the love of 5 Gods Anet stop making square/rectangular maps!
- Quick stuff, like adventures, that are instanced, not open world.
- Actual content, not everything needs to be gated behind something. If you have content, you won’t need to mask as something bigger than it actually is.
- New weapon types, although in terms of balance, it is a mess to deal with.
- Earn all armor pieces through Story, fun colections (like luminescence), or a fun scavenger hunt (like Mawdrey).
- More armor pieces.
- More fractals.
- More PvP maps and modes
But what I actually wanna see, and this is really important, is if Arenanet really wants to deliver a AAA Game like they say. Or if this game is subpar, and they admit it by lowering the price.
Either Anet didn’t have funds or time to do this xpac (or maybe both, who knows), and this is clear to me. So this is not directed to the devs, designers, writers and directors, but to the higher stances: Give this game what it deserves, and then ask for someone money.

Especially the armor and weapon skins. However, I really liked another posters suggestion about earning unique skins in specific content. (like old dungeon rewards)
I also really think having many zones that contain different content is important. I want a zone that is similar to old kessex hills, and another similar to VB, etc. Not just one type of zone with different mechanics. (alla timed events) Exploring slowly and finding fun caves, mini puzzles (north gandarren), etc are the best part of playing. Making the content in the expac all about grinding is a big no, and diminished the enjoyment of the expac for me.
Some zones can be completely unique, (make a zone that the ground can literaly crumble at your feet if you stand on it too long, but give safety zones, add zones with jumping puzzle themes, and some that are easy going like old Tyria. Just make sure that we get a good amount this time. The new content, while dense, feels repetitive in some ways. Some zones can maintain that complexity, but there needs to be at least 10 maps. A zone that swaps your weapon skills with an item to progress? be creative, but give us lots of content. Not everyone has to love it all, but if we have enough to dive into, everyone will be happy with the exploration.
Also please stop fixing wvw…… it hurts, I miss the game mode. The community is dead. Please find a way to see what made wvw special, and build on that. Do not keep changing things up for fun, people who used to play wvw loved consistent, yet flexible battles. Revert stability change for wvw, or all game modes, the new stab was a big setback to enjoyablee fights. And this is coming from someone who used to play zerk staff ele, so almost no stab, but I miss seeing strong pushes. Please, any changes at this point should be fixing what was broken with the recent changes (past years). The only recent change that I really enjoy is points for kills. Thats it.
Also, please give us something to do in HoTM. Something as simple as ffa player zone. Everyone is an enemy when inside the ring. Sounds more fun than waiting. Anyway, be creative and give us some filler content between matches.
Also for pvp, add option for no double professions, so you can opt to only face teams of different professions. This can possibly be bypassed with team queuing, I’ll let you guys test and see what works best.
Bring back courtyard as a seperate queue mode, like you did with stronghold. Why not, a lot of people enjoyed it.
Remove profession dailies, and replace with something else, and allow the daillies to all be completed in any of the 3 pvp game modes.
Never remove ranked queue, even between seasons, or give us an option to opt out of specific maps. I can’t stand skyhammer, WHY!!!!? lol
Anyway, good luck on the next expac devs.
What will save this game in next expansion:
- New weapon types
- New races
- New continent (at least 12 maps)
- Events similar to SW (no HoT events)
- Better rewards (not just blue items)
- Mounts as cosmetics
- Capes (no more wings)
- at least 36 new armor skins (12 for each class)
- better wvw
- 2v2, 5v5 10v10 arena system
- pvp armors and rewards
- 6 new dungeons with 3 path each
- 2 new raids
- new and better crafting (fishing, treasure hunting, archeology or something…)
- rare monsters with rare drops
- new fractals
- new elite specs
- no gating and no “we will nerf this so you must play that attitude”
… and that is maybe worth 50$
I would say more water content (the main reason this game got me 3+years ago), but most ppl would throw tomatoes at me.

Thank You! (;_;)
I though I was the only one, but tnks to you my strength is back!
I will continue to fight for Water Rights (T___T)
more maps with less levels to them. obviously another dragon or two. fights a whole new set of elites so make the profession more robust. i dont mind the mastery grind as it is but more ways to get mastery points. no more currencies too many as it is double up use for some. i wasnt upset with hot like some. i dont care for water combat unless they fixed what i think is wrong with it now. only seems like about half of water mechanics work and half the classes dont have decent skills for it but this is my opinion on water. im hoping in the future we can return to cantha or elona sometime. i love comparing the old areas(gw1) to the new areas (gw2) so i want areas that are mapped in gw1 for the most part. i go into both game at same time and go back and forth
1. I’m for fixing water content as well. I would like some water content and one new dungeon. I hate the idea that it looks like they are just trying to sweep these under the rug. Especially when they have so much potential, particularly underwater exploration. Water content just needs some fine touches. They don’t need to focus everything on water content. However, at least don’t pretend like it doesn’t exist. Similarly, with dungeons, there was nothing really bad with them. Sure, there was some stacking issues. However, this issue isn’t really that hard to fix and really isn’t that bad. They almost make it seam like dungeons were a disaster, but hell they are one of my favorite aspects of the game, especially the parts that focus more on puzzle problem solving than fighting. This game needs more of that.
2. Quests: I really miss the quests of runescape. It would be nice to have lots of little gw2 story activities that are different than the one long major gw2 story. They don’t need to be as complicated as the major gw2 story. However, they need to be much more complicated than those little heart things they had with the original gw2. Basically, I would like to see more lore in the gw2 universe. You can even tie crafting and masteries into these quests.
3. If mounts are added, I think they should mostly be added for looks. Perhaps you can add a little speed bonus to them. However, you need to make sure swiftness still has a use. You also need to make sure people continue to use gliders cause they are awesome in every way.
Schrödingers Clone: PvP Mesmer
New weapons/skills/classes while nice are pretty much fluff they don’t change much the content you experience instead I would like a lot more maps, including hardmode and/or maps dedicated to solo challenges.
Kitten – Zerker Ranger – http://gw2efficiency.com/c/Kitten
Kitty Smallpaw – Condi Ranger – http://gw2efficiency.com/c/Kitty%20Smallpaw
- for me is to stop flooding the gem store with hordes of weapon skins and make them craftable in the game. Hundreds and hundreds of skins, and most that never see the light of day. Cosmetics are one thing, but weapons should not fall under that category as a monetized item(unless of course themed ones such as story NPC skins etc). All crafting achieves is a monochrome set of ascended weapons, one skin pretty much, and for exotic 400s, one skin set. Crafting has become less about crafting, more about how much exp can I get an alt. Id rather not grind gold to get skins… considering how lackluster content releases have been it would be more appealing to everyone if time spent salvaging hundreds and hundreds and thousands of loot actually benefited crafting in some way (HINT hundreds of weapon skins you could craft HINT).
kodan race and jormag fight
complete overhaul of wvw
new maps: 4 made for casual play and 1-2-3 very engaging team coordinated maps also, new Raids ( able to select dificulty wich scales the rewards)
new dungeons
Here’s my wishlist:
- Avoid making the expansion like HoT with it’s super-difficult zones filled to the brim with champions and veterans.
- If any events, craft them more like the Silverwastes.
- Redesign the custom music utility so said music can be better tailored according to the different zones; Norn/Shiverpeaks, jungle, caves/dungeons and such.
- Make the nights feel more like night and not like early evening.
- New race (Kodan, Tengu or perhaps a brand new unheard of race).
- New sets of armor for each classes and with distinctive looks.
- Rearrange the distribution of Masteries so they can be obtained otehr than by grinding through unpopular and tiresome tiers.
- Reintroduce the option where builds can be saved, just like in GW.
- Bring back henchmen for dungeons.
- Take the opportunity to open up territories to explore such as Woodland Cascades, Blood Legion Homelands, Far Shiverpeaks and such and in the name of any deity you happen to believe in, don’t make them like HoT.
All the empty spots between other maps. In shiverpeaks, Tengu, maguuma piece of map.
But the expansion I want is Charr homeland.
At least one new race, preferably two
a return of world dungeons
several new normal zones spread across the level range (cantha?) with a new personal story for characters from that region.
one or two endgame style zones in the vein of HoT
a lot more armor/weapon models than we got in HoT
at least one new elite spec per profession
a few entirely new types of weapons
Well HOT clearly don’t worth 50 bucks. The lack of content is pretty shocking! This need to be a lesson for next expansion! Things that would make a good expansion for the more amount of people is:
-Better marketing strategy (announcing HOT 1 years before the release and rushing it for release it at time was STUPID and that’s make a expansion full of glitches during 1 month after the realease. TAKE THE TIME PLEASE!)
-More maps (3 clearly is not enough (the fourth is a big meta event) and, even if the map are big and awesome, there are clearly not numerous enough. We need at last 6 or 7 new maps as big as HOT ones)
-More content (more fractal, dungeons, raids… HOT is pretty quick finish. We only have raids and even farm in circle… not really fun)
-New elite spec for sure but real balance beetween core and elite spec would be NEEDED too (no more pay to win!!!!)
- More weapons and armors! With HOT we only have four sets of armors that’s really not enough! Give us at least the triple!
-More world bosses
-LESS RUSHED STORY and more LONG personnal story( HOT personnal story was absolutly rushed. We know nothing about nothing: Rytlock in mists, nature of the link between sylvaris and mordremoth…. The mouth of mordremoth is kittening amazing but mordremoth in personnal story is kinda meh… Make a more epic battle please! You even don’t need to give it instancied, make an ancestral dragon world boss like mouth of mordremoth to kill for completing personnal story)
-If underwater expansion (for fighting Bubbles) give us an Enhanced underwater combat! Give it some love!
-Keep the difficulty of HOT zones (at last that was a good thing)
IF we already have that that could worth 50 dollars. But if not that’s clearly not enough (HOT worth no more than 25 dollars for me and i’m generous when we know that we can have the full core game with more than 20 maps for less than 20 dollars. Giving 50 dollars, price of an entire game (look at the witcher 3 with more than 80h of durability) for 4 maps it’s just a kitten!)
Edit: Personnaly i don’t give a kitten about new races and i don’t see how tengus can be added without giving a kitten to the story of the game. We don’t need 3904 races like in WOW
(edited by gannondorf.7628)
Some new masteries to learn and – this part is a pipe-dream – being able to level them up by doing something related to what they are, rather than just random xp and arbitrary mastery points.
Will settle for just some new masteries.
another “race” that sound interesting, margonites, gods sealed abbadon and took his power and gave it to kormir, but lets give it a twist (they thought that abbadon is gone but his followers hid for a long period and… managed some kind of ritual to bring him back or smth like this), and since he was sealed under watter we get access to forgotten powers and some underwatter combat? expansion? deep sea dragon? anyone?
Bump because we have a new game director. Also because we care about the game and the direction it heads in.
Basicly…bring back enjoying the normal maps..and solo gameplay…with thes eideas forexample
1. muuuch more different events styles that can also be player solo.
- events like escorting…but this time u can choose between attacker and protecter(resulting a different reward)
- map wide events of searching special hidden spots
- mentor events or quests like teaming up with weaker player and help them
- hide and seek ;D xP
2. muuuuuch mini dungeons…i love these challanges..and they can be done solo or with random people that r there at the same time (loved that a lot in the first days of gw2..everyone was an ally…not like now where its either the others mess all up or steal ur loot bcs of killing all monster within 1 second)
- puzzles that requires some looking around and some hinking, not only jumping ability (jumping is cool but finding out tricks and secrets too)
3. more masteries also for central tyria
- Huntsman masteries:
allows u to have higher drop rates of certain items..like leather and meat and such. You can choose which item u wanna increase..and switch out the one that is active. (so u can have leather active…but others not..so if u wanna have more blood now u need activate it but the leather goes away). Also…i think to avoid the stupid exp farm it would be cool to develop these masteries when u do these things….so when u r hunting wild animals u increase the masteries lvl step by step.
- Secret/Chest Hunter (or something like this ;D):
increase the chance of finding chests in the world(such like in the end of JP´s) and make the loot better from them.
also finding new entrances of caves or such would be cool.
- Challanger:
beeing able to summon a challange in the open world. Like suddenly appearing 20-30 monster. I really love running around the open world and finding these mini dungeons where r many monster just to lure all and kill them all. but i feel like the population of monster decreased since release..and events r not the same anymore…they r not a challange anymore..but its a challange to hit every monster at least 1 time so u get loot.
or any other challange is welcome something for soloplayer also..
- Skillmaster
allows u to change some weapon skills. The more u play the skills u wanna change the more this masterie lvls up.
(an example…revenant sword skill 2 gives 5 projectiles but less dmg (that max dmg is the same)….or 10 projectiles but again lower dmg)
4. muuuuuch new areas
- i really wanna play in the Ring of Fire region <3
- and the desert in the south-east….the guard at the big gate at ebonhawke..warning me not to go there bcs its dangerous makes me wanna go there even more…
5. a new game mode: Explorer
some maps that r like gw1 maps. So u enter it alone or with a party..and u find there a copy of a map..and u can choose between easy, normal, hard and extreme mode. While the drop and reward is better the higher the dificulty. And a super cool reward in the end after clearing all the map. (i think this goes even well with excisting maps (or at least to make 1 map have 2-4 parts) …killing all monster (and monster dont spawn back) is really cool and fun way to explorere all the region
and after u finished all the world instances u get a cool reward like it is when u get 100% of the map. and it is repeatable. As reward there can be a legendary explorer armor ;D

Let’s just finish our current expansion first
I never understood this mentality from a consumer’s standpoint. We’re not the devs, we’re not wasting anyone’s time thinking about the future. Why end a potentially impactful discussion just because it’s looking ahead? We have nothing to finish. We’re the consumers, we have ideas and discussions about what we’re passionate for.
+1 for this reply!
Also I’ adding myself to the request for a new race, Tengu for me! (I already expressed my feelings about it in a previous post)
Also yes! Naval combat would be great, but I don’t lnow how it could be done, I can see it in the Dragon Steve expansion though
