Think about it, actually.
- I’ve been listening to people going on about how many different gameplay aspects that suits the MMO genre shouldn’t be implemented merely because some of these gameplay aspects were also implemented into WoW.
- Let me also make it clear that I am no WoW fanboy. I enjoy the gameplay designs in GW2 a lot more than those in WoW.

Let me give you an example.
- It wasn’t so long ago that a player suggested a “Druid” class, whereas the first to comment on it said “This isn’t WoW.”
- He might as well have said that this wasn’t Guild Wars, since Druids are part of the lore. The Druids, however, are a group of people (Krytans) that chose to travel to the Maguuma Jungle in order to live more in harmony with nature.
- I suggested the commenter that he should use valid arguments, and argumented why I thought the Druid would not suit the game as a class.

- And yeah, I know. A lot of people suggests things mainly because they have loved them in WoW, and gives little reason as to why it should be implemented in GW2.

- Still, as a mature and hopefully better community than what I’ve experienced through the later years of WoW, I think that we should all try to delve deepter into why it is a good idea or not to implement, an use vaild arguments whenever a new suggestion appears, because a lot of good game designs that could easily be implemented into the concepts of GW2 has been dismissed, even though they could improve the gameplay significantly while still holding true to the game designs.

Combat was also part of WoW, yet ANet took the concept of combat and made something of their own that I have come to enjoy more (even with the lack of skills to choose from) than I did in WoW.
- I feel like a lot of game concepts could easily fit into the game designs of GW2 (like mounts, because the main reason for not implementing them was that people should spend time in the game world, but aren’t we all taking Waypoints anyways?!? Not for discussion here, but that IS my honest opinion, and I shall suggest something that will fit the game designs of GW2, so don’t worry. I won’t WoW it up )

- Anyhow, use vaild arguments when you comment on suggestions and the like. If somebody suggests something that seems more like a “WoW has this, and I want it here as well.” give him a valid reason for why it wouldn’t suit GW2, or how it can be tweaked to fit into the game designs of GW2, or simply just ignore the post.
- Keep calm and be friendly (Flamers aren’t any use to the devs anyways).

One thing WoW definitely did right is embrace crowd-sourcing and community support in the form of mods and add-ons. Not enough games do this in my opinion. It fosters a better, more involved community, while saving devs the hassle of small things like UI fixes.

With that said, i would kill for a damage meter/some sort of combat metrics. I’m tired of guessing, i want to see some elitest jerk level theory crafting applied to GW2 beyond “zerk gear > everything else”

i’m not sure if that’s what you were asking for OP, your post did come off very rambly, so i just followed your last paragraph.

Hi everyone,

This forum is dedicated to GW2 and its universe. While we understand that taking other games as an example can sometimes be needed in order to strengthen your argumentation, threads that are directly oriented toward other games than GW2 are not allowed.

Thank you for your understanding.
