I just wanted to know if it were an idea for the future? Or if there is some in-game mechanic that prevents you from doing so?… I realize that your Personal Story would dramatically change, but what if you’re level 80 and have finished all of your PSL?

I’d much rather be a Norn/Human than Sylvari to be perfectly honest. Racial Armor looks far better imo.

As you already stated, it would dramatically change the personal story… and in doing that, resetting/changing the story would lead to many potential coding issues and headaches for them (and maybe you) to deal with.

If you want to play a different race, your only option is to make a new character.
Choose carefully.

ANet have said it can not be done. They have given many reasons why. Ranging from PS problems, to items and gear issues, not to mention problems with AP.

People seem to think that if ANet wanted to they could do it. Even though ANet have said it can’t be done, and it’s something they are not even looking at doing.

They’ve said they can’t reset your personal story if you’re doing it with a friend and he chooses a story choice you don’t want and it affects your story line choice. That can be extended to mean that the story line is hard set and they also can’t switch the story from one race’s to another. So a race change would mean one race with another race’s story line and no telling how many bugs from that sort of situation. Since the race/story line combination is tied together at character creation, untieing the two will be too much work for any advantages to it for ANet, not when you can use tomes nowadays to instant level.
