Hi simple question. Are Jumping Puzzles part of the World Completion process. Thanks.

When they lead to things like Vistas or Points of Interest, yes they are … which kinda sucks because I am Terrible at jumping puzzles and have had to accept that I’ll never get my world completion badge because of it.

I’m sorry I stepped outta yer box, don’ worry, if
ya whine enough they’ll put me right back.

Thanks for answering! I suggest for you to watch a video of someone doing it. Then after knowing the route, just keep practicing and you will get it

How do you find the puzzles, if there’s no “explorable” point like poi or vista near it?

You always continue forward, but there will be curves before you reach the end of the road.

@Easterlily: I found no pattern yet, sometimes you see floating stair steps, but sometimes they look different. In Rata Sum, you also jump on the walls of the gigantic floating cubes.

Can someone please give me a tip how to approach these jump puzzles in general? I suck at jumping. A dozen avatars pass me by on a ledge, they all jump and get it right, easy as pie, and I make one jump and fall to my death.

I stand on the edge and press Space+W, but that never gets me far enough. Do I need a running start with a timed jump, like W…+Space+W? Do I need a speed elixir? Do I have to mouselook at the closest point to aim? I tried several things, unsuccessfully.

The best work-around up to now was (for my Asura Engineer) to make a jump shot at my feet which catapults me to the first landing point. (Felt like in the good old Marathon Infinity days, if anyone remembers that.) But then I have to wait for cooldown, and I cannot really aim the jump either… Not very efficient.

Make sure you aren’t encumbered from combat as that will slow you right down and under-jump – and try your speed-buff when jumping around the trickier ones, that can give you a little bit more edge. Figuratively and literally.

You can press space first then w (press and hold space then, while still holding space, press or tap w) and you’ll move forward a bit while in the air. This is good for short distances where you don’t want to overshoot. You can also press and hold w first and then press space to get more of a running jump for longer distances. Being able to use both helps a lot. Its not just pressing space and w together, you have to think about the order from what I’ve seen.

And beware of the ‘double-tap-W’ – that stuff ends lives.

So it’s really just a matter of getting the timing of these two keys right? I’m so screwed. sigh ;-)

The puzzle in the Caledon forest killed me countless times and I think it wiped out around 15 people, all trying the same evil mushroom-jump, constantly for 2 hours. It’s just trial and error, with a bit of rage, then euphoria once you’ve made it

That mushroom jump is awful, but the trick is to jump on the stem of the mushroom, not the flat part. Then use the stem to jump up onto the flat part.

One down, only 876781236 more to go! I used my swiftness elixir now, that seems to have helped…

PS:

@Flynch: What do you mean by encumbered by combat? Switch to town clothes while jumping, is that it?

I’ve gotten thru 2 of the achievement jumping puzzles. Let me tell you, the Caledon Forest was annoying at first but not to bad. But the Pirate thing in LA….that dark room was my bane!!!!!!!! No problems until thatkittenroom. And then I watched player after player try to guide me, get impatient, and move on. Have fun with it. bring a torch offhand..or an ele buddy.

Three jumping puzzles are required to complete in order to receive your star, because they have a Vista, PoI, or Skill point at the top.

These are Wall Breach Blitz, Tribulation Rift Scaffolding, and Vizier’s Tower. No other jumping puzzles are required to get the 100% map completion star. You receive the Vizier’s Tower achievement about halfway up. The other two have achievements that are easily missed if you are just going for the vistas.

Completing the area explorer achievements (and eventually Been There Done That) will sometimes require you to step into a jumping puzzle area (to make the name discovery and unfog), but don’t require you to complete them. Some examples are Demongrub Pits, Dark Reverie, Shaman’s Rookery, and Conundrum Cubed. There are others as well.

@Draco Hah, brilliant. I was just fiddling with gamma too and thought, gee, actually, that might turn out to be handy one day. ;-)

im pretty sure if you just wait in the darkroom the captain turns the lights on

This is true. The light will periodically come on for a second or two, and in that amount of time you can do a jump or two, and remember the next few jumps. Patience will get you through that area.
