World Completion help
One: No all caps! The mods will yell at you.
Two: I hardly go to WvW though I am working on a second world completion and soon will face that dreaded beam myself. In general, though, the trick to getting on a beam is to back up from it and aim diagonally towards the spot where the beam emerges from the wall. Steer mid-air to correct, with your camera tilted down so you can see when you’re over it.
I also find that some impossible jumps become much simpler for me with a speed boost as long as that doesn’t make me overshoot. Since letting go of forward motion makes me drop in place, I can control my landing far better if it’s not at the far end of my jump arc.
Now, if it turns out you’re mistaking the first beam and it’s not where you should jump at all, I can’t help until I’ve seen it myself. If you’re on Tarnished Coast I could join you with my mesmer and we could see if combined effort makes it work.
Usually when jumping onto beams, the physical landing area is larger than what you can see visually. However, there is no consistency to which these platforms perform. Sometimes the landing area may be more to one side of the visible beam. If you are talking about the puzzle I think you are, I usually aim to land just short of the visible beam. As was mentioned above, a speed boost can help.
Also, it helps to zoom out a bit and then move your camera position to be as straight above your character as possible.
edit: and when you finally get that vista and your world completion does not trigger, don’t forget to go back to the Chantry of Secrets in Bloodtide Coast.
Your descriptions sounds more like the SW keep(green) with the light house. The northern keep(red) is just jumping on the lion’s tail.
I think I know the beam you are talking about. The actual length of the beam is also shorter than it looks. For beams in general I try to jump diagonally on to them so there is slightly more room on the landing. Usually I do it the way Donari mentions but that is the one beam in the game where it is wrong due to the beam being shorter than it looks. There seems to be an extra invisible force field sticking out from the wall at that point. -_-
