Do you get anything worth noting for getting 100% world completion, and is it worth doing on atleast one character?

Unless you want a legendary, nope.

You do get a title and a mastery point though.

I would do it on at least one character, if not for the sake of unlocking all the waypoints.

For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards,
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

For the fun of it, yeah.

Gives you something to do when you log in.
GW2 world is beautiful, I gotta admit, so doing world completion will take you through all of it.

Can get some blacklion stuff random for each zone. Notably black lion keys. And a pretty gold star next to your name too.

It’s always worth doing, and not just for the rewards if you have the time, but so your character feels complete and go anywhere you choose.

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: That depends on how many of your characters have already finished world completion.

Your first character? Yes, absolutely. You get some achievement points and it gives you the opportunity to see all of Tyria in its beautiful glory. Plus, by simply spending a lot of time in each map you’ll start to recognize and remember where players tend to congregate, where big events happen, where you can reliably find specific types of materials, and other stuff like that.

Your next three or four characters? Depends on a number of factors, but first and foremost you should ask yourself whether the full world exploration experience was enjoyable enough for you simply by itself, not including the loot you may have gotten. If it was, then absolutely do world completion again on as many characters as you desire. Plus, those extra Black Lion Keys never hurt!

Your tenth character and on? Entirely up to you, but beyond a certain point you realize that the loot is simply not worth the time spent endlessly rolling tens of alts through Tyria. Yes, it’s a beautiful world. Yes, I enjoy mapping. But no, I don’t finish maps much anymore. I’ve still got I think 11 or 12 gifts of exploration in my bank and those will probably remain unused forever. I don’t need the loot, and I don’t mind running straight past renown hearts or POI’s anymore. Unless I’m in the mood

Having said that, I do still run almost all of my alts through Tyria to at the very least get all (or most) waypoints unlocked. That is something that will never stop being useful. And getting all of the waypoints on a map can be done in minutes sometimes, while fully completing a map usually takes me an hour or two.

Totally no, not even for legendaries. If you can play on a daily basis, solo-/duo-ing dungeons or fractals, some wvw, some pvp and 2-3 raids, or in extremis a boss train while watching your favorite tv series is more than enough to buy a legendary from other players.
I earn 10-30gold a day doing nothing in particular, just playing the game (sometime I get more, sometime far less), then once a month or two I sell or craft half of what I have in my bank: bam 600g out of nothing.

Depends. I am not interested in Legendaries but I still did map completion on my main (HoT and newer maps included) for 2 reasons:
1. It’s my main so I simply want every map unlocked.
2. Chance for keys.

I did it on 8 characters and have not regretted it. Eventually you may want to go for a legendary or you may get lucky and get a precursor somewhere. It took a lot of time before I decided I wanted to make a legendary. (I bought one of the cheaper ones – The Energizer and made it into the Moot and absolutely loved it once I did) I had a lot of satisfaction getting the completion and I did half of them when you also needed WvW which was a REAL pain back in the day.

Key to getting it done is switch it up and vary it. Do a bit every day. I would take a map, run clockwise or counterclockwise, get all the WPs and then go back and fill in the rest when I had some time. Some I started at the top and went to the bottom or vice versa. If you have friends who need it run together and harvest as you go. It is a win-win no matter what. I got keys, mats, xp etc. Just don’t try to get it done all in one go or you will burn out quickly.

I don’t know that there are any benefits or drawbacks to World Completion that are hidden.
Beyond forging a legendary weapon, there aren’t any “gotchas” I can think of that would make one person go “augh! I wish I hadn’t done world completion!” or “augh! I wish I had done world completion!”.

It’s more of a personal choice, I believe.

I do suggest running on at least one character and unlocking all waypoints. This way, no matter what events Anet throws at us in the main world, you have at least one character that can get there.

If you got the time, its always worth it. Even the personal story is worth completing. Of course its not gonna be effective compared to gold farms but thats beside the point. You can only do it once per char.

Even as someone that play 80% WvW, I have world completion on 10 or so characters. I find it relaxing to do.

Fun fact: I got Spark from a random bag on the mouth killing mission, lol.

There’s a lot more to explore in tyria besides all the waypoints, vistas and POI’s.

- A title (achievement)
- A star next to name
- 2 Gifts of exploration (used to craft core, non hot legendaries)

You also indirectly gain (tho it can be gained without actually going for 100%):

-All waypoints in the core tyria for your world bosses, guild missions, story and other events
-All karma vendor items, including some money making ones, some that sell cheap valuable rare skins (goblet of the gods, jotun great sword ect)
-200 hero points for your elite specialization (tho its quicker to get 250 via hot…maybe for the next expansion? )
