World bosses are pretty much unplayable

Torture? Theyre free rares. Lag happens because of how many people are in the instance.
Dont complain about free rares, there is too much easy crap already. Heck, world bosses are already super easy.
Huh. On my laptop (i7, 650, 8G ram, HSI) I don’t experience that. I hear that people sometimes do, and I usually write it off to underpowered systems or a poor connection (or at least a poor path to the servers). I don’t find that happening to me. I figured if it was a problem with the game itself, EVERYONE would experience it.

Interesting. Your graphics card and CPU is stronger than mine, yet I experience none of what you do.

If the OP is on a high population server and there are huge numbers of players (more than on your server), that could have an effect on performance from server-side. I have a nice, fast computer on a medium pop server and don’t experience issues. I can see how population density would be a factor.

It’s completely random it seems. I have a weaker system and all boss events are 15 FPS for me, but are completely playable and responsive, also I have yet to disconnect (10Mbps/10Mbps connection, nothing special.)
I’m running a 1055T with a 560TI. I only hit lag issues when I do the events right after reset since that’s when everyone’s doing them. Other than that, I’ve never hit skill-delay lag. FPS drops should be expected when there’s at least 10 people. All the skill effects from pretty much any class are enough alone to slow your FPS down.
If you’re doing the first event(s) after reset, just skip that one and hit the next. That first event is where it’s the worst.

Yeah, I have been in events where there were TONS of players and I did experience lag, but that was the world event and there must have been over 100 players present. At that time, I changed a couple of settings so I no longer play with everything close to maxed. I haven’t had an issue since, not even in ZvZ.

I’m a Blackgate player… so that would be ….. a tier 2 server?
It’s still a complete joke that I can’t reasonably participate in the events on my own server without wanting to pull my hair out.

Oh, I thought you were referring to PvE. I haven’t seen the “Tier list” for that. I will have to google that. Besides, I often guest on JQ and DB for PvE. They are pretty high on the WvW list I expect you were referring to. Same experience for me there.

I’ve been doing four of the lower level boss events every day or two for the last week and haven’t had a problem with them. Of course when there are 150 toons standing around waiting for the boss to spawn I don’t expect an Oscar-worthy performance, I just target the boss and toss around a few AoEs for good measure, then collect my loot.

That’s because GW2 has horrible optimization, it’s pretty much random with any PC. Some low end rigs will run better than the best high end, it makes no sense.
I blame bad performance on the games insane particle effects, this MMO is supposedly released in 2012 yet it doesn’t have a particle effect slider? Lolwat? How did they not see this coming?
Some bosses you can’t even dodge their attacks because BLUEFIREANDSOMEOTHERSTUFF. Can’t even see what’s going on half the time.. especially in pvp where it really matters.
My problem isn’t so much with lag as it is no visibility but the effects are causing both of those problems.

YES! This is something I expected to see on release (Since I didn’t see it in beta but figured it just “wasn’t in yet”). I wish there was a particle slider, if not for performance issues, then for visibility.

Quite a funny post- my fps is only above 20 when i use subsample in Options I hardly ever lag during meta events but i will dc without fail once my ram hits 75% useage- porting into maps and wp’ing to areas with lots of chars are the worst offenders. Running Vista (32 bit) and 3Gb ram on a quadcore pc.

Wife has a dell from 2005 ish, 32bit, dual core 3gb ram, and a $50 video card. Doesn’t lag during bosses at SB or shatterer. We also have about 25-35mbps internet.

it must have SOMETHING to do with that since I don’t experience anything you said.
Ofc various rigs will have varying levels of performance. Higher population servers are still plagued by density lag apparent from continued OF existence during high concurrency. It’s rather hard to assume it’s one’s individual system when map/local chats are filled with the same resonance of stutter, lag, and dc’ing. Ofc the semi-recent changes to loot, as concerning alts, was to address this issue….hmmmm wonder if it addressed it properly?…..(rhetoric btw)
