I understand you’re worried about WvWvW, but the transfers ( together with the lack of promised Guesting functionality) affect PvE players as well.
Many friends split between the servers convinced they will be able to roam together anyway (guesting) and we can’t.
If you’re worried about WvWvW, why not limit access to the Mists to a week after transfer, at least until you implement Guesting? Because if WvWvW is the root of the problem, your fix and it’s punishing consequences should be limited to that part of your game.
I personally barely access WvWvW, but I have friends on 4 servers. Playing together wasn’t supposed to be that hard. Please reconsider.
If you are all friends, get together and pick 1 server and all transfer to that server for good. There is no reason to switch back and forth.
It would be really nice if they did put guesting in the game like they promised. Once they do that I believe they need to limit server transfer to 1 per month ( or even 1 per year ) then charge gems for each additional time beyond that limit.
To Slark, I’ve made some friends in overflow before that are rooted in other servers, especially during Halloween, so it’s not really that simple.
I haven’t had problems doing dungeons or getting into overflow with people from other servers, I imagine they could just utilize an overflow server for guesting somewhat.
The solution here is to get Guesting to work properly. I’ve met a number of new friends through the Halloween event too, and it’s frustrating to see Guesting not working properly. I have no desire to leave my home server at the moment, but I don’t want to have to ignore new friends either.
Slark: no, that’s not the anwser.
We are not “all friends”: the guilds are groups of people I played over the years across different games and almost each of us is in the same situation. There’s no way everyone will end up on one server, it’s dozens of people with various friend connections of their own.
Indeed, Guesting needs to be implemented as promised, but until it is limiting World Transfers to once a week is not really handy, especially since there is no ETA on Guesting.
The feature was one of the advertising elements of GW2, but over a month after release it’s still not in. I understand technical dificulties but the Dev Team needs to chose a solution that will work for most players.
Again, if WvWvW is the problem, limit WvWvW access after transfer and not just transfers themselves. Everyone is happy then, I suppose.
The “play with your friends anywhere” was such a big part of the game’s promotion.
It’s also a justifying argument for why you can only have one server (with just 5 slots), which is so restrictive compared to other games.
I know they’re still struggling to get /party functionality to work properly. It’s unfortunate it’s taking so long after launch to get this basic bit.
But… really should get guesting up before restricting server transfers.
