Ok This may come across as a Rant, but that is not my aim, Its more of an expressed worry about the culture that is forming in MMO’s all over the place and NOW it has infected A’net in the form of GW2 and patch updates.
Now I can’t put this in professions because its ALL of them, and we can’t post in Dev tracker about the patch updates only wait for the admin team to pick it up pass it on to how ever is doing the Q & A and wait see if it turns up. So seeing as it is about both the core and add-on (The whole game) I can only see it fitting here. I will keep it Spoiler free and I would ask anyone that posts after me to do the same please.
Again this is not meant to be a rant, It is a long time player someone who LOVES this game expressing concerns about the culture of Nerffing all the wrong things, among other things. This is going to be a BIG post.

Ok 1st up rebalancing: yes there is need for balancing This is something I have never argued our doubted the fact it NEEDs rebalancing because it has become broken. However this needs to be said! I have been reading the recent patch notes for the next upcoming patch, could someone please tell me HOW removing anything remotely useful in the skills is rebalancing?
For the past 2+ years Ranger class even with druid = EXTREAMLY broken
But now the other classes are soon to follow in the being very, very broken.
This I am said to say worries me, because PVP is one thing; but while you’re rebalancing everything for PVP you’re making it impossible for the PVE play. Could you not make 2 skill sets 1 for pvp and 1 for PVE this way everyone in PVP can start off the same, you guys had this formula right when you started off in this game, It wasn’t perfect and only needed a few tweeks but over time you have managed to make it so unbalanced that rangers are hated, warriors about to become extremely useless, mez’ will loose everything that makes them any good, thieves are about to get weaker on their pistols the REV (who is OP and we have told you so since the Beta’s) is about to loose its one decent skill to a timer system the list goes on sadly. Oh but there is more! EVERYONE is about to loose their skills to un-stun! yet Everything PVE seems to have gained a knockback (even those that are not meant to have it!) and on top of that everything stuns and before you can even get back up they kill you! and now we are about to loose our already slow un-stun abilities and the Rev’s is about to get put on a timer?! FIX the PVE enemies first please.

2nd PVE MOBS!: No I am not talking about player trains, I’m talking PVE enemies in MASS mobs. Why? Well even as a skilled up lvl 80 I have a hard time with mobs. Its getting to a point where we are having to form squads to get from Point A to Point B in a map just to get to missions, story, guild things, point of interest. Now I am all for Community play that is the point of an MMO, But to FORCE us to group up just to move from Point A to Point B because of OP PVE enemy Mobs is just ridicules. Some of us Like to Solo once in a while we don’t WANT to have to wait for our friends to come online to then ask them if they mind escorting us it makes things BORING.

3rd: WVW Cheating or Glitching; Now I saw somewhere a random vid where you guys banned someone for cheating, but never said HOW he cheated. Fair do’s if he really was a cheater, but I want to know if something is going to be really done about it over all. I have played a fair few times in WvW and I’m sorry if I sound racist here, because I am not this is a sad observation I have made While in WvW, but before I start I will openly admit I know I’m rubbish at WvW because I have a knack for running into mobs while scouting. (I’m a rubbish scout when it comes to staying alive.) But I have noticed that FR seem to be un-killable at times even sometimes super fast. I’m not painting all members of FR with the same brush I’ve played against some AWSOME players that it was a Joy to do battle with Even if I lost! I don’t play WvW to win (that’s a bonus) I play to have fun, But when you have someone or a large number of someone’s that a equal number of people shoot at, hit, use every weapon at our disposal and their health gage doesn’t even budge? then you start to wonder if something fishy is going on. Now it maybe their not cheating it might be a nasty cross server Glitch, But in any event it needs looking into please.

4th World Boss Changes: Shatters’, Well while I am annoyed at how you are having ago at your player base for using his “blind spot” and claiming he “can’t attack you in that space” Well guys I’m going to tell you something you might not want to hear there. YOU ARE WRONG. He can very much attack us in his “blind Spot” First we have to deal with his minions, and he can even turn us to crystal. I know I’m often on those dragon hunting missions to get the crafting things from them. That said I have got to say the changes to this boss are something I am looking forward to it sounds like he is going to be a more interesting battle! Not so sure about the gliding aspect you want to add in, but we’ll wait and see how that turns out. Changing up the WB’s once and a while I’ve always seen as a good thing I keeps us on our toes with how we have to deal with them. (however I Still can not say I’m a fan of the timers we’ve had since mega server).

5th Enforced Grinding: You guys Promised us back when you launched GW2 we would NOT ever be forced to grind, that we would have a Choice of how we play. Well guys that promise has become broken! Even since the new class updates we have had to grind and grind and grind and grind and grind and grind events it was already bad enough doing that for crafting things but NOW to do it to gain class upgrades? PLEASE just STOP! just give us a new level cap to reach this grinding to level up is just stupid you have taken away our choice and have now FORCED us to grind making the game boring. What happened to letting US choose how we play?! If we want to make a champ train and go around a map killing champs and doing its events WHAT IS THE PROBLEM!? you guys have systematically removed champs turning them into pointless Vets and nerfing drops and anything else you can hit with a nerf stick to stop us “grinding” because that “wasn’t how you wanted us to play” (removing our choice!) to then Turn around later with an add on and then FROCE us to Grind! What was the point?

6th Mega Server: Guys I see where you were going with this, I understand why you needed to do this, But I bring it up, because it’s still unstable, Can’t you give us back instances again? Sorry to bring up this game but they pinched your old system and you pinched Their old system. (in other words you swopped) Star wars the old Republic uses a Mega server system, However they liked how you used to have an instance system, they have since implemented that system into theirs and it works well. When a map becomes full a new instance opens in the Map window and you can hop over to the overflow instance with out having to join a party of someone already in that map to jump over. (they have that system also just you don’t need to) I ask this because its been a nightmare of being booted out of a map you were in with friends about to take on a HUGE world boss like triple trouble, Tequatl, Claw of Jormag or some other WB or big event, then suddenly you get a load screen and then your on a map with next to nobody on it and you are left with a WB with 1min to kill it with 5 people and its full health. If you give us back instance that open when there is a need for them this will stabilize your megaserver.

The final Idea: there is a way to be sure what needs fixing and maybe get an idea of how. that A’net Staff, most of all the Dev’s for 1 week every 2 months or so get assigned to play along side the games player base and come and play with us, play the game they work hard on, the only true way to test and check it, work out what needs tweaking repairing, removing or changing is to play it with the rest of the community. I’m not saying that us player base should know who and when that would defy part of the point of doing this. But I am saying get to know the game from a different prospective other then the intimate coding side.

Well thank you for reading my mega post and I do hope you take what I’ve said on board, as I said this is not meant to be a rant, I apologise if it seems so it is concerns of a player and fan of GW2 and someone who wants to see you do well not go down the drain.

I think a lot of the issues you are seeing is due to a loss of original talent and shackled hands of those that can fix issues properly.
Besides that, there was an embarrassing attempt at making an expansion that probably didn’t hit the market the way they wanted. Play the way you want died with the expansion and everything became gated. PvP’rs do not like pve, WvW’s do not like pve, and pve’rs will stop doing pve if the rewards are unsatisfying and everything is on a rigid schedule to accomplish anything. BUT, if you don’t buy the expansion and you don’t do the pve you CANT get some of the runes/recipes for wvw, guild hall upgrades, etc….thus people stopped playing and those left do not care if they get banned and cheat because they see no future anyway.
Sad really, but i do not blame them. If you are gonna go out, might as well go out with a bang.
They are really just out of touch with a large portion of their player-base or at least 2 of the 3 (2.5 i should say) game modes.
And lastly, communication is so poor between players and devs that people, again, just say “why bother?”

2: i havent seen anything wrong with pve mobs except for when theres an event that shuts down a road and spawns enemies endlessly but that is supposed to work that way

3. the hacker was stupid enough to Record Himself playing while hacking and some who played against him recorded as well so yeah there was planty of evidence.

4..sorry but no shatterer is a 12 foot story liutenant dragon he was meant to be the pinnacle of world bosses right now he’s a joke because of the exploit

5 mixd feelings on this one because there are those who consider all grinding unnecesary but there are those elitists who want everyone to do ungodly ammount of work

6. even though theres a mega server there are still sorta instanced maps the diference is the game now filters player from other servers into said instanced emptier maps to try fill it whereas old instances dint even bother trying to get populated

7. some gw2 employees do play they simply dont announce themselves public , because players always swarm the arenanet icon players and bombard with questions and insults and worshipping non stop

having gone over your post i’m sad to say its like you skipped half of what I was saying, like you read the first line see red and post a response before finishing reading what was said. at least that is how your post comes across. I agree on the Megaserver part.
There really needs to be a change or something added.

Which is a Megaserver Browser! Just like we have in SPvP.
The system is okay, but it needs to be mapped out in a Megaserver window.

Having to depend on other players generosity to put a Taxi Ad in LFG is sad.
Not being able to join a map because you weren’t around at the start of a 2hour
Meta Event is sad too. It makes me log out.

Let us browse through the Megaservers, show the current timer on the Meta Event when you select a server from the list. Aswell as showing if the server is gonna close due to inactivity. Maybe even adding 2 main servers for some maps that are up 24/7 (Meta Event Map & Explore map).
Perhaps you would even meet the same people more often, its good for the community. BLTP is already such an anonymous system, no need to turn the rest of the game into it.

The only possible bad side I can think of: You could get a rough estimation of the current population of PvE maps. Yet you can get that already in WvW and Spvp

I’ve personally found no problems with PVE content. For the most part its fluid and entertaining. I’ve played Ranger since I started the game a few months ago, now a druid, and in both cases I really don’t get why people say ranger/druid is broken. I have no problems with soloing open world content, events, champions, veteran mobs, elite mobs. Most of the time I don’t get hit, because I move around a lot and kite well. On the druid setup I can heal through most damage without really worrying about it. Dungeons are quite difficult to me as I have yet to solo one, but those are intended for groups so I’m not complaining, simply making observation of my own failure. Fractals as well are not soloable for me but again, group content not intended to be solo’d so no problems.
I feel like the grind for masteries has changed the game in a lot of ways, I don’t like the continuous event pops every where I go. I’d love to see those types of things put people into an instanced version of the map for the event but thats just an idea in my own head and probably not feasible at all. Id’ really like to see the game have a more solo friendly element to it in dungeons, fractals, and even open world elements but again, thats just me. they need to make tyria mastery aquisition more fluid, and less "do this achievement to get it’ oriented. Jump puzzles and other elements that I assume were supposed to be a fun challenge to me seem more like a exercise in annoyance levels. Guild challenges are time consuming and in most regards pointless in my opinion, races arent races they’re obstacle courses with absurd difficulty with no real reward or entertainment value.
while I appreciate that challenge is something people, including myself, want. Hard does not translate to fun. Id like to see them put some fun in the game. while they’re making everything hard.
Grouping should be an option, not a requirement to play. To often in MMO’s I notice that the mentality seems to be the devs believe we’re all friends and want to be together all the time. This isnt true. we’re all humans, and while we are social creatures we also are independent creatures who like to accomplish things on our own. I like the Option to play with people. I’d also like the option to play alone when I want to..Dungeons could have an solo option, at the very least then I could see the content. lower the rewards tables, and such. fractals the same. so many MMO’s out there I never saw content because it was 10man, 20man, 6man instances and I most times didn’t go through the effort of getting to it. Contrary to the assumed belief that we’re all friends and get along together, and while it is true there are plenty of friendly, nice players to interact with, some people are jerks, and when you get alot of them together it makes it hard for others to want to join the party.

So- Make some solo friendly elements to the game(dungeons, fractals solo modes), slow down some of the event pops or instance them more. give us more playing entertainment options and less grind for no reason with extra difficulty options…
