Worry When All the Negative Threads Disappear
Hey, at least that’s something we KNOW they are working on.
That is making the negative threads disappear.
If they deleted all the negative threads, there would be none left. Seriously, go to any thread under GW2 discussion and find one that isn’t.
Trying to find a completely positive or constructive thread is as difficult as getting a precursor.
So I hardly think they are making all the negative threads go away.
I’m pretty sure they merged them into previously existing threads on the same issues (tho the ones about protests DO violate the Forum rules, so those could have been deleted….but from what I see they were just moved and merged). BTW, commenting on Moderator activities also violates the forum rules….
75% of what pops on this forum is NOT criticism, but a virtual lynch mob….
Fate is just the weight of circumstances

^This. ^This. ^This. ^This. ^This.
Truer words, my friend.
Negative threads like SAB OR RIOT? They the ones you’re talking about? Probably not.
There are still plenty of negative threads around. Not all of them are non-constructive Lots of them end up that way, though.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
As said earlier there’s a difference between negative threads and threads that have criticism which actually contribute to something.
Spamming in all caps “Sab or Riot” is not a valid contribution. It is a tantrum thrown by someone which paints others in a negative light.
People providing their stance on why (mount/ dueling/ raids/ etc) should be in game might annoy some, like me, but at least there’s thought put into the thread. They’re using “big boy/girl words” instead of the current spasms of actions we’re seeing lately.
Apparently ANet doesn’t mind the latter, in fact they’ve actively merged threads together because we don’t need 40 different variations of “I wants duels plz”.
As for the former, I’m glad those disappear. They don’t contribute and should be pulled.

great post.
I would be highly worried when all the critical threads stop – that means that people have given up any hope that the game will improve, and have moved on to another game.
A good example is the dungeons forum. If you’ve followed that forum for a while, you’ll have noticed that it’s really static now compared to the past. For example, you rarely see threads suggesting dungeon improvements these days.
Critical threads have never been my problem. Ever.
Polite well meaning critical threads are FINE.
The personal attacks, belittling people who like the game threads…not so much.
I’m not talking about Anet pulling threads.
I mean when people stop posting, the game is a ghost town.
So be grateful that people are still posting threads complaining about what they don’t like about the game – no matter how immature (and yes most of them are) they are written, they still show a clear interest in the game.
When all of those threads stop, it’s because all of those people have moved on to a new game.
I’ll never be grateful for posts like the SAB OR RIOT spamming. That whole thing was disgraceful.
That said, I agree with the idea that most of the threads most people call out as being “poisonous” or “hateful” (most people, not all) are really just evidence that people are invested in the game, and that’s pretty important.

Because we can’t be angry about both?

“Title: Something Positive, please be positive”
“Third post: This game is dying, one lung is collapsed and the other is coughing up water. Make expansions, where are my mounts.”

This made me laugh. Thanks for proving my point.

Now that made me really laugh ..

And that even more
Sadly its true and not really funny
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I know a lot of die hards complain about criticism on the forums, and I’ve even had a couple threads deleted by Anet.
What they don’t realize is that constant complaints about the game actually mean that people are still interested in it.

Nothing wrong with criticism as long as it’s not written in a manner where it feels like the OP is either trolling, or just being outright toxic.

Very true. People who are regular dungeon delvers have given up hope because existing dungeons have received no love. By the way, I remember during beta that they said their explorable dungeons were meant to be bone crushingly difficult and some of their devs haven’t completed some of the dungeons yet. Man that was changed QUICK.
@OP: Very good viewpoint. You’re correct. When people like me leave the forums, woa boy I still care about the game but I am very critical of it.
You guys love having me around…Admit it.
