Hey guys. I took Guild Wars 2 off for the Summer. Now that Fall is arriving (and I’m getting bored of Skyrim again) is GW2 worth returning too?

Before taking a break, I ended up leveling 8 characters to level 80, and getting them all decked out in exotic gear. I heard they added a new tier of gear now, does that new tier mean my old exotic gear is now worthless in WvW, and I’ll have to regrind all new gear?

The only person that can really answer that question is you.

The only ascended that has been added is the weapons, and the new materials. There is no higher armor than exotic as yet.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

No. Player skill still matters 90% more than gear does. If you were 1v1 with a player with the exact same skill as you and they had ascended weapon and you exotic, it would be a tight fight but you would lose obviously.

But how often would that happen in WvW? Not a lot…

As far returning to GW2, it depends wether you like living story or not? The next Living story is a BIG WvW update, LFG tool and the Tequal dragon event as been remade to be a 80 player minium raid.

Ascended armor is coming before the end of the year AFAIK.

And the difference between exotics/ascended is not important in WvW. Player/Group skill is more important.

So far it isn’t affecting WvW. I don’t know if it will after armor comes out. Maybe maybe not.

Anything I post is just the opinion of a very vocal minority of 1.

Log in and check it out yourself.

If you like grinding gear, sure, if not…skip it.

best statistical loot in the game. We want everyone on an equal power base.”

You’re going to hear people say that you absolutely need Ascended in WvW.
You’re going to hear people say that you don’t need Ascended in WvW.
You’re going to hear people say the game isn’t worth returning to.
You’re going to hear people say the game is worth returning to.

Ultimately, it’s up to you to decide. Here’s the main additions to PvE and WvW though:

  • Fractals – Dungeons that increase in difficulty the higher their level goes. Has the unique condition Agony with is what Ascended is primarily used for; giving your character Agony Resistance.
  • Guild Missions – Missions your guild can activate. These include things like Bounties and Challenges
  • Changed how dungeon rewards work.
  • Added 100 levels to crafting to be able to craft Ascended Weapons. These weapons also have a chance to drop where you get the materials.

In PvE, most of the content has been temporary

  • WvW now has ranks, where you can level up to gain points to spend in WvW specific abilities.

I could be missing a few things though.

Life is a journey.
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.

They added cool new Ascended gear to craft but by the time you have geared your main and your alts you could have made/bought a legendary.

If i had already left i sure as hell wouldn’t return in the games current state but you need to decide for yourself.

I would say no because I hate it when a game company lied to its customers but y would Anet care? They are making money right now.

What do you want to do? I’ll tell if this game provides it.

I certainly hope so! I wasn’t looking to start a flame war. I just wanted straight answers to a simple question.

Thanks for all the input, folks! The primary piece of advice I’m seeing here is: Log in and check it out, then decide for yourself. So I think I’ll take a little time on Sunday to do just that!

Depends on your outlook.

I don’t feel lied to. I bought the game in beta. They added a new tier after launch meh so whakittens a business. Smart business means making changes. Some will be liked some wont. But if those changes some don’t like bring more profit then it still benefits those that didn’t like it because they continue to get game support.

And if its hated so much those people will just move on to a game that is how they want it.
