With all the maps requiring different types of keys for unlocking caches and what not, would a “Key-Chain” UI panel benefit us all?

Nothing too fancy but wouldn’t it be great if we have an additional button beside the currency button – when clicked, the UI for inventory swaps over to panel of keys, listing all keys in the game? Visualize it like the current Currency UI.

  • Machetes
  • Chak Acid
  • Exalted Key
  • Pact Crowbar
  • Silverwastes Shovel
  • Key of Greater Nightmares
  • Bandit Key
  • Zephyrite Lockpick
  • Fractal Encryption Key
  • Black Lion Key
  • And some other keys that I may have not remembered! :P

Gosh look at the list! So many key types! I figured it would be a huge quality-of-life improvement if this Key-Chain UI comes into play.

What are your thoughts?

An excellent idea! It will be a great add on to improve inventory management ! When they added the map currencies such as bandit crests and geodes into the wallet instead of being in the inventory bag, not only it freed a lot of space but also encourages frequent visitors of the map to keep doing events without worrying about the currencies pilling up in the bag. A similar improvement for keys would work too imo.

Yes, I know this has been asked before, but… it is SUCH a great idea….

Please, please, please Anet. Can we get a keychain to go with our wallet?

This would be so immensely helpful. More often than not, I feel like searching for my car keys when logging in all my characters to find that kitten stack of XYZ keys, I just know I misplaced somewhere…. or I have to search on gw2efficiency for them, which is really annoying too.

I can’t imagine any player being against this. However, it’s not ‘free’ for ANet to implement, so the question is: is this at the top of your QoL wish list? How many other suggestions are equally compelling or better?

Speaking for myself, this is near the top, along with making breathers into a skin (so we no longer need a 7th rune) and turning cultural/order gear into skins (since you can’t salvage or forge them).

Why not just put them into wallet? I hold my keys in my wallet

Yup. These keys should always have been currency. Might also be time to start delineating currency sources:
General (Gold, Karma)
Dungeon tokens
Map (Geodes, Airship parts, etc)
Keys (Zephyrite, etc)

Many alts; handle it!

I think they had a similar idea… and the idea to charge $35 for it.

BLACK LION TRADING COMPANY GEM STORE
New Items and Promotions
Shared Inventory Slots are now available starting at 700 gems each in the Upgrade category of the Gem Store. These slots will allow an item placed in them to be accessible by any character on the account. These slots will appear at the top of your inventory once purchased. Each account can have up to 5 Shared Inventory Slots at this time.

The problem with that is the sheer number of different key types there are and the fact that your account maxes at 5 shared spaces, and I’ve already dedicated those spaces to salvage-o-matics, endless bauble bits, and some boosters.

On at least 3 of my characters, I’m dedicating no less than 7 spaces in my inventory to these keys. A key chain would be a fantastic addition and I would probably also spend gems on it, which should be all the more incentive for Anet to investigate this possibility and go down in history as a bunch of friggin’ heroes.
