Q:
Would it be stupid to Account bound Gold?
A:
Well the gold can’t be account bound seeing as i can only see the gold on the toon i made it on.
Also if it is why do i get mails from people that want to sell me gold all the time
You can deposit money into the bank. All of your characters can then see and withdraw that money from the bank.
How would you… Buy stuff…?
No i mean you could still buy stuff from Tp and vendors ofc.
But trading (selling gold) would not be possible.
Gold is already account-bound. I don’t understand the question…

Gold sellers would just tell you to post 1 specific item, or multiple items, for a large amount of gold on the TC.

O.o guess i learned something haha.
Thanks.
Maybe he’s asking to make gold similar to dungeon tokens. Which would make trading difficult.
Would make sense. There’s really no reason to ever sell things direct.

lol. It’s kind of easy to miss at first, but yes, i found out about this too.
Well i’ve read the forums for abit and there is alot on boting and gold selling ect.
So i was just wondering if we did this (which is already proven done) would stop them from boting and earning gold for Irl cash.
Gold is not currently account bound because you can send it to other accounts.
This isn’t a good idea though, especially for guildies. Would cause more headaches than it would save.
Without a doubt it would kill any reason to bot and sell gold, but…yeah, it would be a stupid thing to do in general, since the legitimate players would get screwed big time (while it possible to go out and get gear and stuff yourself, making trading impossible would force a lot of people to quit, since that’s not how they roll…they’d rather just go buy everything).
Runescape essentially killed bots by removing free trade. It also kitten off a huge chunk of the player base.
It’s also possible that even without directly selling gold, botting would continue…they would just hoard said gold, buy out all of the desirable items, and sell those for real cash instead…

Except to avoid the 15% TP fee. Not that I trade direct myself, lazyness and all that, but I’ve noticed some people doing it.
Your plan would bar guild members from sending each other a bit of coin to help each other out, or pooling their gold to afford the rather expensive Commander book for one guild officer who leads them in WvW.
implementing systems that limit players to fight bots is always the worst way, just look at the DR outrage. So no – no more player harassing, anet should focus on fighting botters head on, not cripple the game options for their players.
They could still trade in expensive staple items like ectos or whatever. Just like how ectos is treated as currency in gw1. With their vast wealth they could even drive the price up. Then what? Restrict all mails. Then close down the tp?
I agree with Algreg.
Too frequently already in GW2 we see ANet adding in some new restriction in an attempt to cover up a problem. Whether it’s nerfing a class cuz of a graphics glitch, adding buggy DR code instead of securing the game against bots, …
Specifically – this suggestion would block guilds from gathering funds for commander books, would stop me from cooperating with my family members, and we’d still have 3rd party RMT, bots, and all that comes with.
