I would not care what an expansion was based on, more about what content it had.
Just for Cantha? no. Cantha was one of the worst areas in the game. Hated it and hope it never comes back.

I have a feeling most ppl would buy an expansion of any type if they put it out. As things stand they are giving us free expansion like content so i am not sure why ppl think paying money would make it more enjoyable. I guess ppl are fooled into the idea that money buys happiness? You realty got to question ppl ethics who think this way.

The LS is not giving players the kind of content they want…new zones, new character classes, new legendary weapons, new weapons with new skills, more skills etc…

A lot of the LS is 1 dungeon which is not so different from a lot of dungeons you done before or reworking world bosses which some like, some don’t, plus of course another list of achievement points to tick off…oh and another back piece…

The quality of each LS varies considerably, some are good, some are dire bug ridden versions of hell…

So you want after day one of the game you want them to add in endless more things to get? In effect ppl feel overwhelmed by what is out there now why would you add in that much more?
I think your asking for way too much even from an exposition level add on.

Those who get overwhelmed are either disillusioned or are the casualist of casual players. Really. Dulfy puts out the guides the day the patches hit. If you’re really pressed for time, as in, you know you wouldn’t be able to finish it, Dulfy the stuff and you’ll have it in ~2 hours time, maybe 3 if you’re slow.

The permanent content is a different story, but, then again, there have only been a handful of those.

Most of the LS have added in permanent content only the festival have been non permanent because they are once a year events.

Seriously? Do tell me which ones. And I’m talking content, things that I can do more than once after the LS section is past. I’ve counted 3.

Well the first south sun gave us a new map the 2ed south sun gave us a world boss event. The last 3 LS give us one new world boss event and update to and old world boss event and a new path in a dungeon. Other then that the 2 events that gave no permanent content was F&F it was not tied to a once a year event and the trade winds i think it was called that was tied to the air blade’s.

This right here, this list of table scraps that are left over when events conclude, is a YEAR’S WORTH of “new content”. And this guy thinks that’s a good thing! We should be grateful, even! Holy crap!

Have to remember if Cantha does come back it won’t be the same nation we remember from Factions. First we had the Kurzicks and the Luxons factions dissolved under the rule of the Emperor Usoku. Also the Ministry of Purity became verily powerful during Usoku rule, and kicked out most of the non humans of Cantha. Hence why the Tengu established the Dominion of Winds in Tyria southern region. I also have a feeling that Usoku bloodline probably demolished most of the slums in Kaineng City.

If there was any expansion at this point, I would probably would get it. However I think the main story with the elder dragons needs to wrap itself up before we do so. Unless we need that extra assistance like someone else stated. We also have so many things that have to be reasonably explained still when it comes to the lore from GW2 and GW1. The problem is right now they keep adding new lore, when they have so many loose ends that need to be tied up.

I understand keeping a mystery behind certain things, but when you keep adding things that have no resolution to them it then quickly diminishes the entire overarching story (people lose interest). If the living story was like a TV show it would be one that was one tenth the size of a full TV episode that never technically concludes. Basically the living story is like watching a serial film from the 1930’s.

Southsun that no one ever goes to. Karka Queen that no one ever does. Scarlet which is now a farm. Teq that 3 Guilds organize, and is dead on most servers. And the revamped TA path that will, like Teq, be dead after the end of this achievement cycle.

So, 5 permanent things in 13 months, with a generous 3 still valid. That’s very, very impressive.

I’d buy any GW2 expansion if it meant getting a large chunk of content to play. If it was Cantha, Elona, Far Shiverpeaks, Ring of Fire, etc. doesn’t matter, I’d buy it because I think the game could do well with an alternative release to the LS format from time to time.. Yes, it’s fine with LS every 2 weeks, but Anet could also drop a bomb on us that would give us a ton of new content to do every year-year and a half or so as well. At that point, LS could be given a breather for a month or two while people explored the new areas before resuming its schedule.

In a heartbeat. I started GW1 only a week or two after Prophecies launched, but I only began to really and truly love GW once Factions came out. Instantly, I was enchanted with the beauty of Cantha and its hustle and bustle in Kaineng, the seas of jade with the Luxons, and the perpetual stone forest with the Kurzicks.

Not to mention the prettiest and most ornate armors, imo, came from Kurzick and Luxon factions. Everything about Cantha was beautiful and balanced, there was such an extraordinarily gorgeous variety in scenery.

Hearing an announcement about Cantha would make me the happiest GW2 player ever in all honesty.

I love my consoles, have ever since I first got an atari as a child. I took it apart later when it stopped working. Then I moved to the nintendo, ohh yeah now we are talking. I had so much fun with mario.

Not sure why, consoles have always just been fun. They’ve always been lacking though because I couldn’t find good open world content. It was always follow this and do this. It felt better with mw, then oblivion, and skyrim. With AC4, and Destiny though it looks so good. I think that’s why I’ve always used both pc&console. The pc could give me fun seamless worlds, while I could use the console for minless fun and rpgs that weren’t on the pc. I really love rpgs though, and the new open world stuff coming out just looks so good.

Sorry I know this is off topic.

Honestly, I’m not sure. I joined the series with GW2 so I don’t have any particular predisposition, positive or negative, towards the previously explored zones. My judgement would be purely based on what sort of content the expansion packs were supposed to contain as well as if certain issues I have with the core game as it stands were resolved first.

I’ve already said that, until we are shown some quality story and dedication to their players, as well as reparations for the nonsense I’ve put up with in exchange for the money I have already spent… I’m not spending another dime on this franchise.

I loved Guild Wars: Prophecies because it introduced an amazing world on the dark side of high fantasy with a complex cast of characters to whom I could identify.

I hated Guild Wars: Factions because the game had three environments: treacherously fickle blind curves and ought-to-be-traversable slopes (Jade Sea), would-be-pretty-if-not-something-from-a-Gothtard’s-wet-dream (Echovald Forest), and are-you-kidding-me-this-terrible-assortment-of-the-ugliest-textures-in-the-world-again? (Kaineng City — seriously, it’s like they didn’t even try).

I skipped Guild Wars: Nightfall because of the disappointment I had with Factions.

I came back for Guild Wars: Eye of the North and loved everything about it except the excessive amount of time necessary to grind out the faction points needed for all the rewards. I want a game that rewards player skill over time investment.

Until GW2 is at such a state that I am as happy with it as I was Guild Wars: Prophecies, I won’t be making further investment into the franchise.

I would definitely as I liked Cantha areas just a tad bit more than prophecies and Nightfall. Echovald Forest had a bunch of enemies that I liked. The Wardens were pretty cool in my book.

The conflict between luxon and kurzick and them both being employed by the emperor appealed to me and reminded me of stories about shinobi, specifically the Iga and Koga.

Even though I do want Cantha to return to us, I wouldn’t mind something new that we haven’t seen yet.

I loved the outside areas, especially on the island where you start. But when you get into near the main cities the slum areas looked really bad. I mean I could see what looked like lines all over the place on walls and such and it just looked like bad programming tbh.
