Would you like to have capes?
i dont care for them personally but as long there is a toggle switch to turn off guild capes or an ability to use something else in back spot them yes id vote for capes
Yes. Capes have been around in MMO’s since infancy and should of became a standard feature. Any game that does not have them is not complete IMHO. It won’t happen because of the Charr however, don’t get your hopes up. Sadly a small contingent of the player base cries every time a piece of armor clips, so we have that to prevent it from ever happening.
They did add those hilarious looking banner things apparently a few patches ago, but I have yet to see a single one in use.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Yeah the back banners. Ironically, I don’t think those would look too bad on a Charr, but pretty dumb on everybody else. I don’t see why they don’t give all the other races capes and implement something else for Charr that doesn’t clip. If you can give the same armor two different looks between genders, surely they can do a different look across races?
in gw1 they are shiny but that was on humans only model how badily would capes glitch on the charr’s body frame in gw2
i personally would never use a cape in gw2 mainily due to all the itemskins available now for that back slot
if it was do you want the gw1 wings (think it was something to do with aion)
id say who’s arm i need to rip off those feathered wings would look nice on my guardian or necro
No, they’d probably clip like hell. I don’t want dumb wings either.
Read Wingless, a fantasy comic about a knight’s journey, here!
No!! absolutely not. no way. nope
I find it quite ironic that this game has the most back item pieces that are 3D but yet we don’t have capes but all other mmos do and no back pieces with the only exception of LOTRO that does both quite well. @Kiri, those wings are incredibly annoying. They would be cool though if they were always idle and only moved once in awhile.
Capes though, I support them because everyone likes their own character aesthetics. Myself though, I love my mad memoirs too much to give up for a pair of silly looking wings or a batman cape.
Capes are not my thing, but if you could toggle them on and of like in GW2 I would be all for having capes. They are kind of fun during guild events.
I miss those capes in GW1 with our guild emblem on it! I wants it back like the way before instead of having to shell out gold and guild accommodations to display a guild logo on a backpack or that flag thing.
Part 1/2 of a dynamic duo
The Charr would have a doggy bandana:
Set a man on fire, and he’ll be warm the rest of his life.
– Unknown Fire Elementalist
I do miss capes from City of Heroes, but I’d like capes on spandex clad aliens rather than faux-medieval tree elves.
Capes without a GUILD HALL, no. GUILD HALL with capes, yes.

Capes are meh they are just simply overused in EVERY game mmorpgs are some of the worst. I want to see new ideal for back items.
Guild : OBEY (The Legacy) I call it Obay , TLC (WvW) , UNIV (other)

I can count on one hand the number of triple A mmo’s with capes. I’d like to see this magical every game.

Used to love capes in Allods, definitively want capes in GW2

How many triple A mmorpgs have there been? Or have you played?

I don’t mind of other people having them, can’t think of a character aesthetic I would want that would warrant a cape though. Just not my style I guess.
But I have a feeling that capes haven’t (and won’t be anytime soon) been added for more technical issues than aesthetic ones.
The last game that had “capes” that I liked were the cloaks in DAoC (pre Catacombs expansion). The collared “elvis” cloaks looked fantastic and sporting the guild emblem was a must!
Having said that…
No, I actually do not want cloaks in GW2.
The backpacks serve the purpose just as well, and can provide a larger selection of creativity, new looks, (and gem store purchases). Holiday events, living stories can also continue to keep “shinies” (e.g. backpacks) in the game that players will pursue.
See: toy bag versus flower versus mass of writhing squiggly for examples of possibilities, never mind the Quaggans/Charr varieties. (Get creative folks, I’m betting there are endless ideas floating out there… boats, tables, large ale mugs, etcetera.)
And let’s not forget good old Charr-tail-clipping when it comes to cloaks. Unless the cloaks are made short enough to not reach the tail, in which case the Charr might end up looking like someone has thrown a saddle blanket on their back in preparation for using them as a mount. <cough>
