Don’t worry boys, Blade and Soul is coming.
Would you play dungeons?
Don’t worry boys, Blade and Soul is coming.
Nope. Tokens are worthless, dungeon loot is terrible, Dungeoneer and Dungeon Master titles are already done.
I don’t do dungeons for the money, I do them to have fun with friends. Though not all the time, so I still have nothing like enough tokens to complete all the skins.
So yes, I would.

^ This..
Yes
Up until i had all the skins, yes. After that there’d really be no point.
Would you play dungeons if they removed the gold prize in the end?
Yep. That prize was not there, or was much smaller (I forget) at launch.
I think Dungeons would be better if they removed the gold prize AND caused aggro’d mobs to never break out of combat and be able to follow players with the same tricks ranger pets use (when you jump to a ledge or over a gap, the pet ports to the other side).
And if I really wanted to be sneaky… put the gold prize back in for the anyone who matches any 2 of:
1. Using the least common class seen in dungeons in the last 2 hours.
2. More than 50% armor in the least common stat-type (Berserk, Knight, Rampage – those kinds of things) that can be crafted (to keep it from always being things that are hard to get) seen in the last 2 hours
3. 8 or more points in the least common trait lines for their class seen in the last 2 hours.
- All changes that would get things to be “interesting” again.
Oh and… maybe a 10% bonus to damage if at 80% of endurance, 20% if at 100%, and -10% to damage is below 50%.
- to encourage builds other than berserk.
I know that may seem off-topic…
But I see the gold thing as linked to the zerk thing. Its a dual mentality of ‘farming’.
But all other changes aside, the only 3 I think are really, really vital – would be the gold bonus going away, mob aggro never breaking, and mobs being able to ‘port’ to places they can’t walk-path to if players end up in those places.

Each path in Arah now takes 5 hours.
No, loot is bad, and fights are boring. I would play fractals if they removed the gold reward though because they`re fun.
the only dungeon i do is the aetherblade path and i would still do it if they removed all loot/rewards from it altogether.
I would to get the achievements and collection rewards, not to mention the skins from the token merchants in Lion’s Arch. I wouldn’t do them again after that, though, if the gold reward was removed.

I stopped doing dungeons a long time ago. I refuse to do them until they fix them.
wtf no way you serious man
Mesmer is unfun to play against and does everything better than thieves.
Hoping those two get gutted with nerfs
Only for some costume unlocks, maybe the occasional shot at a precursor

Probably not, dungeons bore me quite a bit. PvP tracks were the best thing to ever happen, so I’d just keep PvPing instead.

Nope.
Rewards = Fun
No Rewards = No Fun
Nope… then again, I don’t play them much with the gold reward.
I would play them a few times for fun, maybe a little longer if they had skins or achievements attached. It would be the same for any PvE content with crappy rewards.
I would probably uninstall the game too, since I can’t imagine open world content providing any sort of fun in the long run.
Each path in Arah now takes 5 hours.
I seem to recall doing them faster than that.

To me the Dungeon System needs a whole Redesign.
Dungeons in GW2 are nothing compared to what they were and felt like in GW1.
All the dungeons in GW1 were more fun to play with a Group in, than any of the GW2 Dungeons.
Anet should scrap the whole concept of “Dungeon Paths”
Each Dungeon in GW2 should be just only 1 big and eventually multi floored persistent zone, in which you can and will find special dynamic events and dungeon bosses that can be found only there.
When you play the Story of a Dungeon, then its still just an Instance.
No need anymore for an obsolete extra “Explorer Mode”.
Look at the Dungeons of old Games like Ragnarok Online, even such old games liek this MMO had already in their time multi floored persistant zones as dungeons where everyone could just play in them at the same time.
Dungeons should be reworked also as “Raid Content” via the new feature of so said “Dungeon Crawlers”
So special Dungeons, which are always different, each time you enter them and become harder/more challenging and more rewarding over time so deeper/higher you delve into them.
Basically similar gameplay to the Fractals with its increasing Fractal Level.
Yes, redesigning all dungeons into multifloored persistant zones wouldnt be an easy task, but absolutely one that would be worth it, together with the reintroduction of some old GW1 dungeons as new content, that would be amazing and would give GW2 some good nolstagia back also too.
I want to explore in GW2 again dungeons like Catacombs of Kathandrax, Ooze Pit, Frostmaws Burrows ect. and see, how they look like today (maybe in more dangerous ruins now) 250 years later.
Sadly Anet has currently no asigned team ect. that is working on dungeons, all and everyone is just pulling on HoT for now, but NAet has already forsaken dungeons a long time ago before they even announced HoT.
Dungeon Rewards are laughable, once you have your dungeon weapon and armor skins that you want, theres basically nothign interestign and rewarding there anymore, what makes you playing the dungeons, other than the quick gold and maybe for some time the dungeoneer title if you want to go for all of the skins, but this feels more like grind than anything else, even when you play PvP for them
ANet missed early on the important point here to ACTUALIZE and improve the reward table for dungeon tokens every now and then. Since game release dungeon rewards together with karma rewards have seen until today no single improvement/addition to the reward rosters to keep them interesting enough for the players.
Anet should add for Dungeon Tokens/karma also Ascended Equipment, so that you can earn these things (with new skins) also by these alternate options, so that players ared just only forced to rely themself on RNG or only crafting, so that GW2 would become again more alt friendly like it was at game release.
Then theres more stuff that Anet should add for Dungeon Tokens/karma.
New useful Buff Food and Potions for example, stuff that people just want to keep on buying with their Karma/Tokens simply
New Minipets, new toys, new tonics,
Theres so much potential here to improve these mechanics and make them appropiately more rewarding over time, but ANet just does nothing over the past near 3 years here, because they were always way to focused on other things like Living Story, that they igniored too much other important gameplay aspects of GW2 or literally totally ignored the rest of the game, because it makes no money for them, while Living Story and Gemstore do…
I wouldn’t play them if they removed the gold reward. The dungeons paths are just to static to have a ton of replay value without some sort of reasonable return. Most enemies feel just way too spammy with their attacks to really be interesting in my opinion (and even the enemies with potentially somewhat interesting mechanics are degraded to a spam fest because of the whole stack and skill spam meta; the zerk thing just magnifies this degradation of game play, rather than a direct cause).
I don’t do them even with the gold reward at the end.
I run all dungeons for tokens. I need them to complite collections
I only do dungeons if I have to. They terrify me. So the chest at the end is not important.
No, I would not.
While I don’t exclusively play them for the gold reward, it’s an important aspect in the overall picture.
Yes I would still play them, but not as much. Tokens can buy you a lot of rares to salvage for ecto and dungeons are also a decent way to pass time while waiting for a boss to spawn/ whatever else and give decent loot for time spent in them. If they did remove the gold I would only do COF fullrun and SE p1 and p3 purely to pass time, but would not completely stop.

I would probably stop running those i learned solo/duo/speed clear and just do for fun/challenge the ones i didn’t. Otherwise no ty, its just waste of time with such trashy reward especially if someone do lot of pvp and daily there getting skins to collection is even faster.
I would be more happy to drop one ecto in UW in Gw 1 than finish AC path in 10 mins for now. Even small change like add chance to get mini from dungeon chest or various bosses (imagine Mini Lupicious x) would be enough for me to run them more often.
Nope.
Rewards = Fun
No Rewards = No Fun
Or in other words : Dungeon are no fun .. its only the reward.
One of the many reasons i startet GW2, since i always hated dungeons, and here
i’m not forced to do them just to get proper gear ^^
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I think Dungeons would be better if they removed the gold prize AND caused aggro’d mobs to never break out of combat and be able to follow players
so you just stealth past
problem solved, and you just made thieves compulsory for fast dungeon runs
I don’t do them for the gold now….so I guess it wouldn’t be a huge difference for me.
Of course…I don’t typically do them at all because it requires me to deal with people. Many of which turn out to be a bunch of kittens.
I miss my heroes more and more every day.
Arah, yes, the rest have gotten stale to me so probably stick to my current situation of rarely doing them anymore. Back when they were fun though this wasn’t the case and I’d have done them reward or not. I typically do fractals now when I play, I think that honestly answers the question well enough
Or in other words : Dungeon are no fun .. its only the reward.
Some things are conditional. Dungeons can be fun, but much more so if there’s a prize. In the same way that beer is more enjoyable when chilled.
Kill things, collect loot. It’s the cornerstone of the RPG experience.
