Gw is coming along really well. I dont understand all the complaints. Anet are working on so much right infront of us and even more behind the scenes. The events they have done so far are very smart because now they have recyclable content as they stated and can start putting more into the big projects they have planned for next year. No online game comes close to the sheer speed of new content and it is fairly unique content that we have been seeing for gw so far.

I think next year alot of naysayers will lighten up when they start showing their big projects and you guys get new world content that progresses deeper into the lore and world of tyria. I believe crystal desert is on the horizon but who knows where they will go.

Try to enjoy the content they got rolling out and dont focus on what you think should be priority because they are the ones running the fastest selling mmo haha. Plus sab is awesome!

Nobody is denying that things like Super Adventure Box aren’t fun or interesting in their own regard.

People’s complaints are that they aren’t substantive. It’s not actual content… it’s a distraction. It’s like dangling keys in front of a baby… and as soon as the event is over, we’ll be back to square one again.

None of these events have any permanent impact on the game-world, or provide depth or meaning. In fact, the Super Adventure Box (from what I’ve read) is just one big high-five to Nintendo… that has literally nothing to do with the game world or furthering any sort of story. It was just some cool side project some Anet dev was working on.

Either way, people are hungry for actual meaningful content in this game… not just “VOTE FOR ELLEN KIEL IN LION’S ARCH” or more “<INSERT CREATURE TYPES> ARE ATTACKING <RANDOM LOCATION>!” – That isn’t content. That’s filler. That’s a distraction…. that’s all it is.

and as far as these “big projects” go… I’m skeptical. Something I’m hearing over and over among players is that ArenaNet’s budget is extremely tiny and all their income from the gemstore and box sales is being syphoned away to other projects like Wildstar. If this is the case, Guild Wars 2 is dead in the water. If 2014 rolls around and there aren’t definite plans for a MASSIVE release… I’m talking new races, new classes, new landmasses to explore, new quests, new hearts, etc etc etc… This game WILL stagnate and people will leave.

I won’t ever leave Guild Wars 2… but I gotta be honest here – there are some sweet MMOs coming up in 2014… Elder Scrolls Online being one of them. If Guild Wars 2 hasn’t gotten its act together by then, it’s going to take a back seat while I play something else for a while. Sorry Anet, that’s just business.

This made me chuckle, thanks for the laugh! I agree though. Other more major events may be less like this though. They do put a lot of work into the LS and it’s good quality material, for its purpose.
Instead they should focus on changing the content that is already permanently there, the things that players enjoy to do and expand on those. Then agian, so many people agreeing and disagreeing in here.

It’s funny how he said this and sad that it’s true. I didnt not come to play this MMO to do nintendo like gameplay, it’s almost insulting for me.

You are insulted by a game? You seriously wrote that?

The pve events are imo something i do not care about,at all.I would like to have a Real Livig Story i could care about instead of random pve events every 2 week to celebrate whatever is going on i just dont seem to be able to care enough about to even try it out anymore ( Like farming pavilion….My god who in their right minds even Liked doing it ? ..I know alot of you ..but it was pretty bad content imo)…Most of the time pve feels like a kindergarten,it feels so immature and…i cant put my finger on it…Pve isnt something i enjoy doing anymore in gw2..Wvw starting to become a bore aswell, especially since the random matchup started,it just lost all sense..

I feel the same way, but the thing is there are a lot of retro game enthusiasts out there to my surprise, I found I didn’t enjoy sab the first time, so I just ignore it now, I consider this my little break from the living story, since I wouldn’t otherwise benefit, I hear so many complaints about how hard it is. oh well, my loss

The problem is not my ability to comprehend writing but to comprehend how someones world can be so small that it is possible to insult them by putting in-game again a popular activity. I personally don’t enjoy it but to be insulted is beyond me.

I think that by this time next year, new players would be overwhelmed by the amount of things he/she should do to be on par stats / as fashionable as the betaplayers. overwhelmed / possibly quits.

i’ve actually heard of this theory that ncsoft is taking all of the sales for gw2 and moving it onto other things

i did believe this theory for a while but then someone explained to me that when you think of gw2’s sales that way, it would be like gw2 is the absolute sole support for ALL of ncsoft’s other mediocre games, i think it would be more accurate to say that ncsoft pools all of the income from all of their games and redistributes it in accordance to which game earns the most, and if it happens to be aion, then so be it

for all we know ncsoft may be giving gw2 a massive income but anet’s just using that to create tons and tons of temporary content for whatever reason

I have always been a huge fan of GW1, and a huge fan of ArenaNet philosophy that a game should be fun from the very start. It should not require the player to go through unfun grinding and busywork in order to get to fun content. I was a big fan of GW1 PvP model, allowing everyone to fight on same footing, and not requiring you to play PvE with a PvP character, etcetera.

I was underwhelmed with Guild Wars 2 a few months after release, because I expected it to be a modernized, better, Guild Wars 1. And it wasn’t that. After a while, I moved on.

And in the meanwhile, I played a lot of other MMORPGs. I’ve both gone back to old ones and tried new ones. And recently, I decided to try GW2 again, and I must say that I’m really pleased with it. What I got from this is that, as long as I don’t approach GW2 expecting a “better GW1”, and instead simply like I’d approach any other MMORPG, it’s actually a very good game, and the best MMO I tried this year.
