The drop rate for Writs of Experience is life the sightings of Unicorns. UFOs come up more often.

In the time I’ve been collecting them (since they started dropping) I’ve accumulated 16 of them. By comparison I’ve leveled 1 character to 70, another to 80, gotten 8 characters to their elite specialization, 100%‘d several maps, and pvp’d for weeks on end in amongst this.

Drop rate for these is too low to be worth keeping.

You must not do dailies.

EDIT: Just to clarify, these drop 100% of the time from all daily achievement chests.

I look at them the way I do Black Lion Keys – I simply don’t expect them to ever drop.

And yeah, I just get Writs of Experience from dailies if I want them, which I don’t usually because the amount of XP they give is negligible.

Unlike Black Lion Keys, the writs aren’t on any other loot table. They are part of daily achievements, end of story, and they’re 100% guaranteed.

WTF???

I have 237 of them. You should do more dailies.

You probably get more exp from whatever you need to do to complete the dailies than what the writs give you. Useless!

I don’t even try to get them, and I must have at least 100 sitting in my bank collecting dust since my recent character hit 80. They aren’t that hard to get.

Writ of Experience is a consumable that grants 5% of the experience needed to reach the next level. They are acquired from chests awarded for completing Daily achievements

Not doing dailies then complaining you don’t get WoE is like only mining iron nodes and then complaining that you never get platinum. Got to go where it is to get them.

This site lists the chests that have them
Writ of Experience

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Anet schould make them in general more useful.
Once you are Level 80 they become totally useless for you.
This should get changed in my opinion.
Writs of Experience should give you even after reaching Level 80 Experience Points, in that case then towards the mastwery you want to learn, so that all the writs that you collect are still useful for your max level character in some kind of way.

Same should be for Tome of Experience,. they should be useable still by maxed out characters, just with the difference, that a tome should give significantly more exp towards a mastery.

A Writ should give like 5000 Exp towards a mastery.
A Tome should give 50000 Exp towards a mastery.

Would this work that way in the game, there woukld be at least a bit lesser of a need then there to grind for Exp in places like CoF1, because we could make use of all our collected writs and tomes then to push the learning of a mastery faster without havign to do any grind for exp and instead use simpyl the rwards that the game gives us from normally playing it…

Personally I like the idea behind sub classes ~ quoted from Chris Whiteside

^Which is exactly why they didn’t implement that suggestion. So all of us that hoarded (and hoard) Tomes and Writs couldn’t breeze right through the Mastery Tracks.

Naet has absiolutely no problem with us breezign through the central tyrian masteries through CoF farm.. its everyones own personal choice about it how fast or slow you want to get the masteries done…

So why exactly should have Anet then a problem with it, when people would use actually the rewards that are given for us and our long playings of the game and usign the rewards that are given to us actually for what the kitten rewards were designed and made for??
Makes absolute no sense, its like making after a step forward 3 steps back to artifically cripple the player progression by removing the functionallity of your exp rewards, only you as a developer want not, that peopel breeze trhough the new content, but on the same hand they accept all the kinds of exp farms that let people already breeze through it..

Thats just pathetic double morale!!
(it shouldnt be the intended design to jjust throw your rewards aay, because you can#t use thenm anymore…when they shouldn’t give maxed out players no exp towards masteries, then we shlould be at least able to sell these writs and tomes so that they become this way useful for ur, or Anet should impolemrent a NPC, that trades us writs and tomes for something that is useful for us, like T6 material bags or refined ascended crafting materials based on the amount of traded writs/tomes, or lodestones and so on, actually somethign, that simple reduces the grind on these things and is a useful reward for us, when we can’t make use of the tons of received writs and tomes with our max level characters

I agree with the Op actually, although I wouldn’t miss the writs weren’t they around anymore. I’m doing less than one PvE daylie a day, so it takes me ~ a month to get 20 to turn them into a tome of knowledge – which are useful for me as I can always use spirit shards. But even if the droprate was increased, they constantly clogg up one of my bank spaces which is annoying.

So….zero PvE dailies?

If you want writs, do the PvE dailies. If you don’t care about writs, don’t do them. But don’t sit here saying it’s hard to get writs while purposely not doing the content that gives the writs.

Whenever I get the writs from daily chests, I just stow them with my tomes in the bank. Sometimes I convert them to tomes, but currently, without a toon to level, they’re all just sitting there. I’d love it if they could contribute in some way toward mastery progression. Then they would serve their original purpose. But the next question is: what would the purpose be for anyone at level 80, but without masteries unlocked?

Well, then you won’t get as many writs. I don’t know what else to say. You have the information and the ability to get more writs, but if you simply don’t want to play outside of your preferred game type, then you need to be OK with not getting a lot of writs.

I don’t get many badges of honor, because I don’t do much WvW. But I don’t feel it’s a problem that I can’t get badges of honor outside of WvW. If I want badges I need to do WvW. I need badges if I want to make a legendary. I have the option of complaining on the forums that badges need to be available in fractals (my preferred game type), or I can go into WvW and get the badges. I do the latter. But that’s not for everyone I suppose.

You didn’t get my point – could you at least try, be silent or be nice?

ETA: To help you:
I’m playing the game as I used to for now 2 years. Half a year ago anet introduced the extras for doing daylies, like drops of wxp which have since been scratched. Those could be used with a double click, but you have to gather 20 writs to make a use of them – in the meantime they clogg up a bankslot of mine. Can’t even use them with a level 80 – so all I can do is destroy them or hoard them. So yes, it would be better if they were replaced by something which is instantly useable.

You guys really don’t read the description for the tomes, do you? If used by a level 80, they give spirit shards. With masteries, you no longer get them by leveling up, making them the only reliable way to get spirit shards. You also get tomes from the login rewards.

Writs are not for the character you’re playing. They are for the next character you level up.

With an 80 character you accumulate writs in the bank. When you create a new character you start the sequence of levels ten at a time. 1-9, 10-19, 20-29, etc. You do the story steps for the current level, and when it’s done you use as many writs as you need to get to the next set of 10. Makes leveling new characters easy. Then each character can pay it forward to the next.

At least that’s what I did with them.
