People immediately started complaining about Wurm loot, once ppl figured out how to kill it. And to this day the loot still sucks. Is there a reasonable justification for why the loot is not at least similar to Tequatl? Or is there a way to kill the Wurm so easy that this is the only way to balance the event? If yes, someone please say something, because succeeding still looks pretty tough to me.

From where I stand it actually looks like the not-that-many-ppl that are actually completing it are starting to lose interest.

Actually Wurm is HARDER than teq since teq is farmed daily and wurm is not.

So its not worth doing until something changes.

Probably, if you want to do something for the challenging(fun) content, then you would do the Wurm. If you are looking for uber-loot, instead, then maybe not so much.

The reason I don’t do either of these bosses is because the loot is so horrific. Don’t get me wrong. I love that they are in the game as I love to take on hardcore challenges from time to time. I just want them to be worth my time.

Teq is so easy once you know how to do it. You have enough minutes left to fool around.

Wurm is different.

What he said. And loot is very generous. The Wurm on the other hand, I can’t find a reason why it should give such crappy loot, compared to Tequatl, and with a daily/account restriction. It just doesn’t make sense, and I’d like to see a reason why it was made like this…

I don’t do these bosses because scaling and loot is kitten. I start to do these bosses when medium side guild can kill them alone. Loot is kind of weird in this game too. Devs can’t figure out that players wanna kill stuff so they get something rare to show other players. In this game everything good looking stuff come from cash shop or you have 0.1% chance to get it.

One of two things need to change for Wurm to be worth it:

1. Heavily nerf difficulty (adding an extra minute to the timer for the head phase, for example).

2. Heavily buff rewards (to the level of guaranteed exotics and 1 in 10 chance at ascended chests).

Until then, all the wurm is good for is frustration. There’s no challenge to the encounter anymore, head phase is just banging your head against a wall until you get a favorable die roll. First phase is identical difficulty to Teq, so in all actuality for the wurm to be worth it head phase could just be cut from the fight completely.

As mentioned in some other thread, these events aren’t really worth doing for the loot themselves, but for the karma they provide.

I haven’t done the wurm yet so I can’t speak of it yet, but I think Teq rewards at least 10k karma.

With the karma nerf last year, I think Anet has made an effort to make these type of encounters more rewarding but not in regards to loot. Karma is one part of that.

I do suspect wurm may be on farm status in the next month or two but only at certain places(tts, desolation/bg MAYBE). It is quite obviously not a fight I see being done with a random group of pugs who semi know how to do it. It does require coordination and teamspeak for sure. Which I think is ok, this game needs fights like the wurm but the only down side is that people realize tts or desolation or maybe bg are the only ones who can complete it so they just bandwagon there and then fill up the map that specific group is in then screw up the event. The only way to fix this is probably just make much more guilds that can have this level of coordination which I believe is possible.

I can proudly say I was part of an Oceanic wurm kill last night with [TTS]. Everyone was over the moon with the effort that each team put in and the congrat’s couldn’t flow enough.

The problem with encounters like this is, it requires an ENORMOUS amount of organisation. You need about 50 people per team to take on each wurm, and each team must have a very delicate balance of professions. Then you need 3 experienced commanders and for people to be on TS3/Vent/Mumble, etc. to hear the calls and to know what to do.

The experience is invaluable. I’d been in an attempted wurm kill a few weeks prior but only managed to take off one head, and I believe the team we were in was the first to do so in GW2. Since then some rough edges have been ironed out (both in team tactics and in coding) and knowing what to do and when is absolutely key.

I took no notice of the amount of karma/coin earned from the kill, as it’s something I wasn’t that interested in – I was far too lost in the moment of actually killing the fabled 3-headed wurm and earning the achievements that you get from doing so. Having said this, the loot… well, like others have said here, it does need to be worked on. Dishing out multiples of greens and some rares is all very well, but not justifying of the effort that had been put into this kind of epic kill. I didn’t even get anything that was map-chat-spam worthy and only one person got a mini wurm from what I saw.

Long story short, if you want achievements and can find a good, organised team to do the wurm kill with, then yes it’s worth it. If you want the rewards that come from it (excluding the title) then maybe not so much. Sad but true.

I’n not sure if someone have said this before but they should make a new reward system and scraping the RNG system to get ascended drops for these type of events. In my opinion, having the RNG associated to these events doesn’t interest some of us, knowing we have to rely on luck.

To make Wurm, Teq and other future bosses more appealing and encouraging, why not reward us an account-bound “tokens” once a day for a successful kill on each boss and these tokens can be exchange for ascended items (specifying the amount of tokens for each ascended piece) like what we have for FoTM (pristine fractal relics), dungeons and their respective vendors.

The main reward on the Wurm is the title. And ofc the fun and challenge of doing it. Which admittedly isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but then again the event itself is not for everyone. Saying that, they should have rewarded those persistent people who kept at it with something better than 2 blues and a green.

Wurm doesn’t give any karma and the average loot you can expect is less/worse than Tequatl.

There are groups able to kill the Wurm consistently but those people are not getting anything remotely worth the effort, loot-wise.
There are a few prestige rewards, though very rare and RNG-dependent, so you can’t really rely on those for prestige, because it can take months of killing everyday before you get lucky enough to loot one of those. And the exclusive armor pieces (and the rifle) I believe people would only wear them to show off, they don’t look that great.

A token system would be better imo, but we have too many currencies already. Perhaps each commander NPC could simply keep track of how many times an account succeeds and accumulate credit without the need of a token? They could become merchants upon a successful kill near the end chest for a few minutes…

In TxS We have been farming the wurm for a while now (23) kills ,and you don’t rly need 150 ppl zerg , it can be easly killed with 120 peeps :P.Back to the topic if you do the wurm only for the loot is just a waste of time don’t even bother .But if you enjoy the fight then is Totally Worth it.

I’m pretty sure the only people that kill Wurm is the TxS guild. If you weren’t lucky enough to get an invite with them before they closed recruitment then you don’t really even have the option of killing Wurm as far as i’m aware.

Rewards are terrible, not going there again until they are vastly improved. I got my achievements and see no reason to ever do wurm again if rewards stay this terrible.

In couple months wurm will be farmed on some certain servers without any organisation or voice communication at all, just like tequatl is on those servers.

Personally, I don’t think it’s worth it largely because large world boss content like this just doesn’t interest me.

Success in these events always seems to be so reliant on just being able to log on during a time when the event actually has enough people and whether a ton of strangers actually give enough of a care to take it seriously.

If they were to put something like the Wurm/Teq fights in an instanced, raid-like environment, I would be all over them and I would probably be devoting a lot more time in game.

I think the interest in fights like these is starting to diminish since the rewards are so poor.

This kind of response sums up the difference between people who kill the Wurm, and people who don’t. The challenge isn’t about the loot, but of the challenge itself. Getting together your guild and coordinating with 150 people simultaneously is what Elite Content is all about. And as time goes on, the Hardcore groups are having an easier time killing the Wurm.

The loot drops are good as they are, as it keeps the fair-weathers away from the event. If someone doesn’t want to take the time to learn mechanics and strategies, and only wants the end loot, then they shouldn’t try the event. All it takes effort from everyone on the raid. For those who do the event and are successful, RNG will bless someone every now and then. A few nites ago when me and three others got the Mini Wurm as drops from a single run.

I’ve killed the wurm multiple times and it’s not hard nor enjoyable.

The content encounter itself is not hard at all – actually it’s entry level raid mechanics at best in most other games so I’m not sure were you think it’ difficult.

The only part of the content that is problematic is the human resource management.

If I wanted to play a human resource management sim I would. But , requiring the sheer amount of people you need to do a simplistic mechanic fight just screams poor design to me.

There is absolutely NOTHING elite about this fight or it’s difficulty.
