WvW from 100% Map comletion should be removed.
There is no issue. If you want 100% completion, then you have to go and explore 100% of the world.
It’s meant to be a challenge, not a right.
On the one hand, I’ve always been opposed to PvE objectives in PvP play. In that, I do agree that the map completion stuff needs to be removed.
On the other hand, what in the world are you afraid of? It’s not like you die IRL if you lose at PvP. Gather up some friends and roam until you all get your exploration done.

U can get WvWvW discoverys without pvp too. Just move server that hold SM or eternal battleground side keeps what u need and move back ur old server after 24h hour.
Lame way do it but there was gold farmers that chanced servers all time get a lot high end gathering nodes…

Typicly pvper response to a reasonable pve player request. Its because of people like you that most of us pve players don’t want anything to do with you pvpers
I could’nt agree more with the OP. Why totaly speperate pve, wvw and pvp, and then force people to do something that don’t want to. This also applies to the monthly achivements. Why should people who just want to pve or wvw have to go do something that don’t like or want to.
I would be fine with seperate achivements for all three types of play in GW2
By using the same logic all PvE Sets should be also purchasable via Badges of Honor instead of Dungeons Tokens.
I don’t think they should change anything, cause if everybody feels a little disappointed Arena Net did their job right.

Agreed. I don’t really have time to wait around to get into WvW, nor do I have much desire to get involved with it at this point. I won’t be able to reach th monthly achievement unless I force myself through it.
I realize its an attempt to get people playing it, but it just doesn’t feel like it belongs together.
Just find a server that literally has the full map (there are servers like this) and just go get everything real quick and switch back later.

Hmm i am sorry but gear obtainable by badges of honor is obtainable only by badges of honor same is with dungeon gear, and btw i do not see any connection between this and this topic…
Switching servers will not be possible eventually. You can only change now once per day, so you have to know ahead of time which server to swap to.
Many servers have massive queues, especially for the Eternal Battleground. If you have someone exploring, that takes a spot that someone kittenally wants to PvP can use. That essentially weakens your server.

TBH dont think that exploiting should be the way to get anything done in any game, guess i will remain stuck on not getting map completion since i simply have 0 interest in doing WvW, which is by the way simply not even doable on lover/mid gaming rigs like mine, half the time i dont even see the people that are actually hitting me…

No one is forcing you to do 100% map completion or the monthly achievements. Really.
If you don’t want to do it, don’t do it.

And yet GW2 PvP is more about skill (well sPvP is) than most FPS games today with their unlocks etc. Even the one you linked.
So do PVP’er’s get 100% completion just from doing the 4 PVP maps? Maybe they don’t want to look at any of the PVE maps.

You notice how it’s called 100% map completion and not 100% pve map completion. There is a good reason for that.
You are making the mistake of assuming since 90% of the map completion medal is PvE therefore it is meant to be solely for PvE players. This is a misconception on your part and not the games.
While I sort of agree with your statement about map completionists filling up WvWvW slots. It’s quite unlikely that a large amount of them are all going to be filling out the map all at exactly the same time.
I 1/2 way agree with this. 100% completion depends on if you World is doing well in WvWvW otherwise some areas you can’t get too.
There are two large issues with linking WvW to, what is logically a PvE achievement.
1. It fills WvW with PvE players who don’t want to be there but have to, to get their achievment.
2. It fill WvW with PvE players who WvW players don’t want to be there because they take up a slot that could be used for people who do want to partake in WvW.
With wait times on some servers still in excess of an hour, surely it makes sense to disassociate WvW and PvE achievements(this also includes the jumping puzzle, and monthly rewards) so that the only people in the queue are those who intend to actually participate in WvW and not run around doing PvE.
For those who say “Well it’s also a PvP achievement” would you honestly still say “We want World exploration to include PvP zones” if it wasnt in there in the first place?

@ tomgore I guess you did’nt read or understand my post. It has nothing to do with wanting it all for no work and all to do with not wanting to do something I find very boring and tedious. IE pvp.
@ alice sure something thats is in fact 95+% in the pve world is of course not ment for ONLY pve players at all now is it. Are you really that dumb or you just being obtuse. I know for a fact that if any pvpers had to spend even so much as a minute in the pve world to get an pvp achivement there would be a massive complaint thread from day 1. Not one after a month with a few replies.
I agree with the OP. I was able to get the 100% on my main by doing what is suggested here; swapping servers. But it’s an odd setup; which later, servers like Kaineng (did I spell that right?) will have severe issues getting 100% unless they enter the Gem Shop. I honestly don’t think it’s a fair system at all.
My experience with it was rather annoying too. At first, I didn’t want to switch servers. Felt it was the “Cheese” way out. So I stuck with my server and tried to help it out. Here’s the problem: The areas I needed, we never seemed to get.
My server was Blue. I needed areas in Green and Red. Two weeks I waited and jumped in trying to get the areas I needed. It was NOT enjoyable. It was frustrating and annoying. I simply do not enjoy PvP in games like this. I find it dull (gimme Planetside 2 instead – for example. It’s a personal preference).
Anyway, I think a smarter approach will be needed down the line. Removing the PoI and Vistas from behind locked gates OR changing the way the Green/Blue/Red system works – have it change every week regardless of scoring (keep the ranking match ups, but simply rotate colors).
Either of these keeps the WvW maps in the completion aspect; removes the future “need” for Gem Shop migrations (if the game will be dead in a few months, this isn’t an issue; but a year down the line when there is a charge for server swapping?) and makes it possible for ALL servers to have the chance to get completions.
Additionally, if a player needs just one more PoI; he/she may be more likely to try WvW out vs needing half a dozen and then giving up.

PS. I also find it an odd setup that they require someone who doesn’t really enjoy it to take a spot away from someone who will really enjoy it. Increases the queue times… that is odd IMO.
I was going to make this same thread. There is absolutely NOTHING ‘challenging’ about having to uncover the EXACT SAME MAP three times. It’s tedious, frustrating, and all it involves is waiting until parts of the map are captured. But what happens when a borderlands homeworld base gets captured for an hour (which rarely happens, by the way) and you’re not there to get it? More likely than not you won’t be. So that leaves you with literally staying in WvW for days and weeks just trying to get the last few points you need.
It’s ridiculous and absolutely should not be included in the 100% map completion. I’ve done it already but only because server transfers are free. Even still it was a total pain in the kitten and I can’t even imagine what it would be like without the server transfers.
