If WvW was more like AvA in ESO it would be much better. The flavor of PvE is perfect and you get the full PvP action, but in GW2 i think most of the PvE is missing from WvW. Some PvE events should change the battlefield and situations a bit, almost like it did in Aion, there was a NPC faction also besides the two other factions.

1. Its not pvp, you can level, kill rabbits, use food there. So please stop saying that its pvp, ist WvW.
2. NPC’s play a huge part in WvW.
3. With the current amount of ambient creatures running around, you can’t really say something like: “less pve pls”. As any fight going on in WvW is either affected by pve, or is too zergy to be affected by pve.

So yeah, he can easily ask for pve as its already part of wvw, and its known to be so.

It didn’t, the only thing that failed is the reward system. Where players are encouraged to farm. Instead of defending their keep.

And don’t even kitten me, for 90% of the players WvWvW goes something like this…

1. Look for blue chip on the map, run to him and hope nerdo gankers don’t kill me.
2. Follow random people I don’t know from objective to objective avoiding the other 2 realms wile we rack up loot off… PvE champs

PvP = Player vs. Player WvW = Players Vs. Players Vs. Players with a hint of PvE.

People are complaining already as it is with envolment of NPC’s so I do think it would ruin it… I am not sure though but when I play WvW I do play to fight masses of other players not NPC’s.

Also this is Guild Wars 2 and not ESO, I am sure that a good amount of players like WvW better than AvA and another good amount likes AvA more than WvW so lets not change WvW to AvA… If you wanna play AvA … sorry I have to say it ‘You better play ESO until WvW is more enjoyable than AvA for you’.

This doesn’t mean I support 100% how WvW works atm though.

I never understood why people say WvW isn’t PvP; do you guys know what PvP stands for? It stands for Player versus Player, which is basically when real people fight against each other, as opposed to real people fighting against computer controlled bad guys.

You can PvE in WvW, like, simply walk around gathering, but this isn’t the point of the mode.

I love WvW, and I’ve spent a lot of time playing it. You can run to the blog as somebody suggested above, or you can form your own small gang, or even go solo behind enemy lines. There’s lots to do.

Should PvE elements be added to the mode which can effect the outcome of a battle? My opinion is no, leave it be,

WvW is absolutely pvp. The only reason pve exists in wvw is so players who traditionally play on pvp servers in past games can have that feeling of excitement when your leveling. Level like normal but with the threat of an enemy popping up and to mix up the sometimes mundane leveling process. I’ve always looked at it as the Guild Wars 2 equivalent of open world pvp since there are no factions.

Lord Kuru EotM might failed for you and only you cause Overflows we see on EotM speaks different.Since Eotm come out i heard massive positive feadback from many players that i know or dont know,players that i random encounter and such.I love EotM as well and npc doesnt ruin the game at all.

Eotm is a succes. It offers WvW gameplay while in queue for the real deal. That was their goal and they achieved it. They also use it as a way to test new stuff.

Most fun I ever had in an MMO was the Thidranki instance in DAoC and that was just a large open battleground with one castle that you could capture in the middle. There were no points, no match resets and funny enough no zergs. I think the PvD aspect of WvW is what is creating the Zerg problem.

Good thread to share my personal thouths, Im from sorrow of furnace, play since launch, and what i only see on my server is ppl running to take spot and they just lost it again and then get it back.. “only for loot” “running circles”

I played lineage 2 for over 7 years and making sieges are organized, this is a simple career to take loot no for pvp.

Im not sure if others worlds play this way, but this really annoying see ppl can do a better job and just avoid the pvp as possible they can.

rarely have 2 commanders and when there are, only stay one because “people are confused according to have more then 1 commander” can someone explain to me what this is or WvW PVE in a war zone?

Any other server uses more than 2 commanders in EB to split groups for attack and defend?

Honestly I think the WvW should be rewarded according to the time that the strengths are maintained and not every time you take, it’s like going in circles all the time .. really stupid, it has nothing of pvp.

They go to WvW to compete on a large map scale with OTHER PLAYERS.
No, it isn’t as personal and competitive as traditional PvP, but it is still players verses players.
People go to WvW because they want players verses players—but prefer WvW’s version of it. They specifically do not want PvE

I wonder what kind of answer you’d get if you asked any of Napoleon’s soldiers if they were having “fun”. Trying to use realism as an excuse for uninspired gameplay in a GAME is laughable.

That is a very good point. It was just people running around solo or in 2-3 man groups looking for fights. Great fun.

Yea, if they took EoTM and removed all the PvE objectives / doors etc. I think it would be a fun time for anyone who just wanted to fight. Problem is then it wouldn’t serve the purpose it was designed for which was a waiting room for WvW.

I do find it funny though that they designed a whole map to help with WvW queue’s when that’s only really an issue on like 4 servers. IMO that should be the price you pay for xfering over to a horribly bloated server, but instead they get catered too.

When I say i want more PvE in WvW I mean there should be more action from the NPCs there. Like the ogres should be able to go to arms and attack a castle.

Player versus Player becomes pretty stale when players take a fort, then lose it and take it back, lose it, take it back etc. If NPCs could also attack and take castles and stuff, make more of an impact.

100% agree with this statement. I found it very strange that Anet decided to take away one of the biggest advantages the smaller servers had over the mega servers.

EoTM is too good to be a waiting room. That is the problem right there. It should be on the main WvW map and be made to count for PPT. The PPT system needs to be altered as well to reward defense.

For me, 80% of the players in WvW do this: Get into map, join in teamspeak, find a way to the commander, kill hundreds of players gaining loot and dying now and then to enemy zergs giving them loot.

The other 5-10% go off in groups of 1-5 and fight small scale.

It sure as hell is PvP, and more PvE isn’t welcome. It’s already annoying as heck seeing enemies rallying off a random mob nearby
