Y do YOU think mesmer is balanced in WvW/sPvP
Wrong forum bro, try the mesmer subforum

True, but I’d like to get people who main other classes opinion. Be interesting to see everyone’s opinion.
I guess this depends on how you define balanced. I find I kill stuff slower with my mesmer than some of my other professions, but my survivability is quite high. I seem to have more than couple of build options as well. And I like using multiple weapons in different areas of the game.
Is it balanced? Against what? Against other professions?
People should really start to be more explicit…
balanced WHERE?
PvE? nothing is balanced when you have warriors and guardians, yet seems quite balanced with Others once they fix iLeap and iZerker
WWW? well needs more confusion damage and less ability to impact zergs.
PvP? dunno <.< don t play it
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

Sorry, Fixed. I mean in PvP/WvW. In everything that PvP is. Since both of these things involving mobility, taking objectives, holding objectives, fighting large amounts of people, fighting small amounts, etc. Basically everything sPvP and WvW.
Good mesmers are HELL to beat in SPvP. I mean really hell. I dislike fighting mesmers in SPvP more than any other profession. I can take down most professions a good portion of the time, but mesmers are my stumbling block….the good ones anyway.
The ones that aren’t quite as skilled at playing their profession go down pretty easily though. I think the profession has a higher skill cap than some of the others.
PvP =/= www
classes broken in PvP are weak in www and classes weak in PvP are almost OP in WWW
So they are 2 separate issues.
I won t comment on PvP.
But in www the only OP thing mesmer have are how cofusion can be spread….
Not the damage itself…but how can affect Whole zergs.
And necro have the same issue….
Before the Arrow cart patch they were the strongest siege machines in game.
1VS1 never happens whereas in small scale fights i don t think mesmer is so OP.
In PvP you don t need to kill anything to get points that is why it just create unbalance in other game modes….its silly and should be completely separated from the game.

I main a warrior (yes i’m the weakest profession in PvP since the beginning, hello) and I have almost all classes at Lv.80. Since I like challenges I’m sticking with my warrior even in tPvP.
Mesmers are balanced IMO. They are the natural -if you don’t mind me saying- noob-stomper. So they are only seems OP to the people who doesn’t know how to fight against them. When you find the real Mesmer among all the illusions (which all experienced player can find him without even trying) you can cut him like butter. Put enough pressure on them and they’ll burn all their mobility skills and became vulnerable in few mere seconds. They are not the most durable class you know, their survivability comes from their mobility and their ability to hide in plain sight via illusions.
And they are the class with the most bugs in game for a long time. They have so many bugs in core skills of their builds for months without fix, even I haven’t played with my mesmer for months.
It’s all boil down to learn to play issue when it comes to mesmers. I don’t really like to see this term in all over the forum. But in this case it is true. That doesn’t mean learn to play your own class. It means you have to learn to play other classes as well. So that you can see through their abilities.
Even devs are said it at the last SOTG (you can listen yourself). I don’t really remember who said it but if you don’t mind me quoting : “Mesmers are in a good place right now.”

balance are an illusion .
guy A figured how to beat mesmer an has beaten it in daily basis, thus he thinks it is balanced. while guy B got steam rolled by mesmer and think it is imbalanced.
its all about perspective .
the skill lv of the person playing the said class could also make a difference on how its adversaries think of it.
while i think there is an advantage and disadvantage in each class mechanics..
i think most of people’s opinion are either exaggerated or biased .

True in that assessment. However if you count statistics then you can see how everyone feels about the class and how it is balanced. A Balanced class is not how a class behaves in it’s full conditions. It’s how players can handle that class. Playing and fighting.
So, if you take Guy A’s opinion and 50% of the playerbase thinks the same. And Guy’s B opinion and the other half agree’s, then it’s an indication of the class current balance. It’s a lot of different if Guy’s A = 10% and Guy’s B = 90%, don’t you think? Obviously it’s a trend.
But ultimately i agree that people are biased on their opinions. Those who stomp says it is balanced (fear for a nerf), and those who are stomped says it is overpowered (hopes for a nerf). This kind of topics are way more constructive than those. “OMG… stealth have to go…” kind of threads…
In my opinion:
PvE: Fairly Decent and resourceful!
WvW: Slightly underpowered!
PvP: Slightly overpowered!
/Cheers
I think, “Mesmers are in a good place right now.”
Mesmers, along with Guardians are probably the most balanced—->strong classes without being OP.
The developers can really leave those 2 classes alone and concentrate on some of the others that REALLY need some attention…
The mesmer will be next on the chopping block after thief.
