Greetings brothers! I managed to stumble my way into this game after an exhausting journey through WoW (ew). And I am VERY pleased with my new finding !
Although I am only a level 21 , I am finding the game to be amazing! The mechanics are remarkable! Although it would be more fun to play with others , no one likes to acknowledge me in chat :/ . I can’t wait for the rest of the world and story to unfold in front of me!

That is really strange that no one is talking to you, usually the gw2 community is very friendly and welcoming. :( I am so happy to hear that you are enjoying the game though! :D If you want/ are interested I can add you to the guild I help run, we are super social and always play together. :)

Bwahah, so much WoW-hate all the sudden. But hey, welcome to Tyria!

As I tipped my hat to the other new peep, feel free to ask me questions and such.

Many alts; handle it!

Welcome. I also find it odd that you got no response in chat. You might want to check that you are on map chat rather than say chat (so /m rather than /s in the chat box). I suggest you do find a guild – there is a subforum just for that! I’m not sure if you’re in EU or NA servers or whatnot, but our guild is great. Just keep in mind that if you want to WvW with your guild you should make sure it’s on the same server as you are. Otherwise guilds go cross servers for other events and such.

I, on the other hand, can’t seem to get people to shut up in chat.

I would think that converting from a WoW experience would be like jumping out of a ’73 VW Bug and in to a brand new Mercedes. XD

try chatting to the whole map. You’ll get better replies there.
type /M in the chat window, then press [enter] to switch to map-chat.
switch back to Say mode (talk to those in your immediate vicinity) by entering /S

At level 21 you should be fresh out of the new player maps. You may find chat increasing as the level of the maps go up.

Hello! I hope you don’t mind me replying even though ‘brother’ soesn’t work very well.

Welcome to Tyria! Keep chatting. Sometimes people answer and sometimes they are busy. The best way to get people to react is to ask questions. Yea, some will tell you to look it up on the wiki, but many will try to answer.

I am nearly always up for a chat. After playing a few thousand hours, I also know some things. But not nearly all.

I’m sorry if I offended! It’s a habit haha. But yea I figured most people were suction cupped to their battles lol. But that is a good Idea to ask questions! I’ll make sure to do so!
Thank you for your reply!

I tried haha. But thank you very much for the tip! I guess it was a dead map lol. I also noticed when the channel notices the population is growing dull, it will ask you if you want to join a more populated one. Maybe I should watch for that more!

That is an awesome reference lol ! But lucky, I wish people were active like that when I play! Maybe the guild is a good option.
