"You have placed too many sell orders..."
Well it’s not only a security measure for goldsellers, I think but also for hacked accounts.
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
Gold sellers or not, this is a worthless (read stupid) mechanism, yeah sure it slows gold sellers from selling stuff quickly to Trade Post, but as common sense suggests, even gold sellers can wait a minute and start selling things again.
As someone who runs a lot of dungeons for a couple of hours straight, this is incredible annoying.
Stop listing every single green you pick up. It’ll save you a lot of time.

It’s a fair use/anti-spam mechanic. It really doesn’t have anything to do with gold sellers, but rather power traders. Anyone that bots the trading post isn’t really affected by it, it only slows them down. You can modify the trading post for example to automatically sell items as you get them. What it really limits is the people dealing in large quantities. Originally for example, you could flip entire markets as fast as you wanted (by using the TP’s API directly).
Nobody has ever said it has anything to do with spammer, gold seller etc. They have came out and said that it’s a technical limitation.

When I sell a lot of stuff, I alter the price from the buy number, even in only by one copper (sometimes I click the ask and alter it down a copper or two. The slight delay means I almost never run into the message — and I tend to make a little more. In this case, haste does make waste.

I’ve been saying all along it’s a limiter so players don’t get time outs trying to sell on the TP but get shouted down with the anti-bot excuse.
RIP City of Heroes
I usually sell my rares on the TP when I have 5 of them or when I’m running to the next point in SW/Dungeons/World bosses.
I’ve only had the " You’ve placed too many sell-orders" thing the one time in all this time of using the TP.
I’m not sure what your magic find is at, but if you’d like to increase it while getting around the “too many orders” dialoge, I tend to salvage everything but Exotics using a whatever salvage kit for greens and blues, and either a mystic salvage kit or a master’s salvage kit for rares (black lion salvage kits are the best but I ran out of them a long time ago). Then when I get a few runs I sell all those materials on the TP at once.
I can’t imagine the headache of trying to sell each piece of equipment one at a time.
That doesn’t address the main issue per se, but it’s how I deal with it so I thought I would pass it along.
Oh, and instead of clicking on those essence of lucks for eternity, you can use a lvl 0 artificer to combine them into much smaller, more easily manageable sizes to deal with, with no loss of luck.
Blessings.

You obviously have not played silverwastes, as most green items don’t sell on the TP. I sell most of them on the vendor.

I only sell stuff that’s over 1 silver, anything that’s exotic/rare I salvage unless it’s more than the cost of ectos. I’m trying to make money; I’ve gotten as much magic find as I care to have, since it’s basically worthless for me (over 5000 hours playing time and not one precursor and very rarely do I get exotics even with the silverwaste buffs.) My magic find is not that low. I’ve built it up since I started playing by salvaging almost everything I’ve ever gotten since I leveled my 9 toons. No more. It’s a waste of money.
Thanks for the suggestion though…I have tried that too..
It’s just that when one is standing in the Hidden Depths with luminescent hounds pouncing on me even when I’m trying to make room in my inventory to loot the chest…I REALLY don’t need to see “SORRY, you’re selling stuff too fast” … tell that to the hound some thoughtless person drug to the chest. Especially since the event is timed and I need to do it as fast as possible to gain tier 3 on the event. (the chests in the center count, you know, toward the tier completion) so going to the camp resolve vendor prior to the event to sell inventory is not an option. And salvaging for me is a waste of $ though I have done it when I’m stuck at the TP..and lose money in the process.
I just though it would be easy for Anet to fix it so it’s not so frustrating to sell stuff to make the game more user friendly; I guess not.. I’ll deal with it and live in hope that they can fix their ‘technical’ issue so that the TP works quicker.
I couldn’t agree more.
I counted how many items i could sell before getting the message, i managed to sell 10. I counted how many TPable items i had after one round of SW, which was 36 unique items (exotic and rare items and crafting materials, i always salvage all green and blue items). So that means to sell all of it i’m required to take 3 ‘breaks’ in between. Very annoying indeed.
If the cap was doubled or even increased by another half it would make quite a big difference while surely still retaining whatever function it supposed to serve.
The cap is there for technical reasons. They can’t raise it without invalidating the reason it’s there to begin with.

I played silverwastes long enough to get all of my luminescent armor pieces. I never once ran into this issue.
