You know that the daily...
Lol that was exactly my thought last night XD
But at least I’ve discovered I totally suck at Shooting Gallery. So…yay.
:P
At least I was lucky and the shooting gallery was open when I went and I didn’t have to wait around for the time gated game. Tarir assault was up so cleared that one fast too.
But ya—PvE dailys generally have many activities that are just bad, it just happened that this one was exceptionally so.

That’s why I play PvP for my dailies. All done in one game.

I don’t know…Activity took about 3 minutes, and Orr gathering about 5. There was always Veteran Creature Slayer, which takes only a few minutes, most of it waiting for it to spawn.
But, doing events in AB is pretty easy, really.
The trick to Orr gathering is to head to the northeast area of the Straits, the Plinth Timberland wp, and run northish from the wp to the little plant farm patch. Takes maybe a minute to complete.
Activity will be longer or shorter depending on which activity it is and when in the game you arrive. I was sad to find myself at the very start of Southsun Survival — normally I arrive as a wisp, gather a few blue motes, and boom the game ends — but it still didn’t take long for everyone to murder each other. Shooting Gallery only took time thanks to having to secure Bongo’s camp first, now that Bronze is pretty easy to get there (I don’t think I have Silver yet, certainly not Gold, but for daily you only need Bronze). The only reason it all took me close to 20 minutes was having to clear Bongo.
You know that the daily PvE events system hates you when it hands you an activity, a HoT adventure, HoT events and Orr gathering all in one go.
;p
While I certainly have no problem doing the Auric Basic events, and have gotten Bronze in the Shooting Gallery Adventure before, I took a look at the list yesterday after reset and said “Meh, not today.”
So I just did Orr gathering and left it at that.

I only did the AB events (and ended up participating in the meta) because I needed to level up my Nuhoch mastery in order to proceed in the HoT story. But I passed on the rest due to ending up not having the time. I haven’t even been able to even GET to the area where Shooting Gallery is, due to being killed en route more than once. =(

I raged at it until I got Silver. I’d been meaning to make time for that anyway, but it was extra obnoxious with everyone in my way. Minigame dailies are always such clusterbombs.

I have a very simple solution for days when none of the dailies appeal to me: I don’t do them.
There’s always tomorrow.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
With the Orr gathering, I take it to Cursed shore and around the Melandru temple area should be orrian truffles, usually around 4 plants so I can continue to feast on truffle steak without having to pay for someone else to make it.

I’d guess the post was about enjoyment, as in a lack thereof, in doing those activities, rather than inaccessibility or time. I don’t play MMO’s to play mini games, and 2 of 4 PvE tasks were mini-games, so I can understand that distaste. Some people dislike HoT maps, so I get that one. Some dislike even entering a PvP area, so I get that one. What the issue is with Orr gathering though, I’m clueless.
Me? I killed the Vet worm, 5 guards and managed to get Objective Defender so I didn’t do any PvE tasks. Then I left WvW because nothing but blobs.

Have you got Faren’s WP? If so wp to that then run east off the plateau and glide down the lane to Bongo’s camp. Do this in the middle of the day cycle to make it more likely that others have run the event chain to the camp so there will be almost no mobs and the adventure will be open.
If not, and if you are NA, I can lead you there from the Pact Encampment WP. Assuming I can deal with getting in game through today’s sick headache PM me if you’re interested and I can log in just to help you with this. Per the timer day begins 5 minutes from my posting this and then goes 1 hour and 15 minutes, so that’s a good window of opportunity.
1 PvP match, 1 vista, daily finished.

Can you please change the title to reflect the post?

I’ve found that I only do dailies if there is a JP in the list. If there isn’t one, the only way I’ll do a daily is if, by dumb luck, I’m doing what the list need. I happens time to time, mostly when killing Teq.

BINGO! You get it.
What the issue is with Orr gathering though, I’m clueless.
Yeah, it’s a fair critique. I’m actually pretty comfortable in Orr but it’s just one of those places where gathering can take a little longer. So for me it’s a bad day when the best PvE daily is in Orr
I know there are “arranged” PvP daily rooms but I just have no interest in them.
And how come the daily activity counts as PvE???
Southsun Survival: PvP.
Keg Toss: PvP
The crab thing: PvP
Even the footrace one is competing against others.
I don’t play this game to compete with others.
But this is a light-hearted whine. I’ll nab the third daily later with an AB multiloot and tomorrow I’ll hope for a set of tasks more suited to my tastes.
.
Orr gathering/mining/lumbering is fine…but then I always have multiple alts at the tree farms.
I only feel sad when it’s stuff like HoT adventures or TD events.
Personally, I never mind when it’s an Orr harvesting thing because we have Pagga waypoint in Malchor’s Leap – your one-stop shop for foraging, mining, lumbering, a free chest (under the waterfall), an easy jp (antre of adjournment) and a slightly longer one (scavenger’s chasm) and both jps have multiple chests! I go there for one thing and end up staying for everything.

I have to admit that it’s difficult to pass up what seems like a “free” two gold, but Danikat is right: it’s not worth doing stuff I don’t like. I’d rather pass up 2g and enjoy the game than to force myself into tolerating whatever is on the list.
Passing up 2g for the second day in a row thanks to another HoT “Adventure”.
More free time for tree farming I guess.

Find someone who also hates HoT adventures to fake duel in a custom PvP arena. 6 minutes or so to get a couple dailies (longer if you want all the PvP dailies).

That’s why there’s a daily rotation. Some days you get the bear, some days the bear gets you.
If you want the 2 gold, it’s a very small price to pay if you ask me. Before that, sure, there was less of a point. But 2 gold for 10-15 minutes even on a bad day?
Not an issue for me.
Hot adventures suck but Orr gathering? Really? There’s so many random nodes in there and a lot of them aren’t near enemies; not that it should really be a problem. HoT maps; just grab a friend or two or use LFG for a meta map or even just a map with any organization. Or just ask in chat for help. if it’s really that hard; but it really shouldn’t be.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

For any quick daily Orr gathers, I usually start right outside Fort Trinity. Especially for herbs. I have to wander a bit for mining nodes, but it’s done in relative comfort. Lumber ends up being pretty quick if you find one of those circles of trees everyone parked at for Foxfire Clusters. So yeah, Orr gathering, not so difficult.
I’m ambivalent about the Adventure dailies. On the one hand, most of them suck. They suck even more when everyone is flailing around, blocking LoS or turning the entire field into a poison-laden death zone. But at least it reminds me that they’re there, and if I haven’t done it before, it provokes me to getting at least Silver so I can get the mastery point and never do it again.

I suggest you try to do the dailies from different game-modes aswell and mix it around a bit. I do acknowledge that not all PvE dailies are ’’easy’’ or worth spending your time on. The PvP dailies are quite easy since you can just enter a rank-farm server.

I got the daily done, all in PVE, without doing the adventure. I would have done the adventure, I enjoy Flying Circus, but reset came during nighttime and I didn’t want to wait that long, so I quickly found 4 Lornar’s Pass events instead and did the other two trivial ones fast. I forget exactly what they were — oh right, one was Sanctum Sprint, which is the only Activity I really like, but that one finished by the time I got to the second row of urns as I loaded into a nearly done race. So it took about 10 seconds. It’s easy enough to do, you don’t even have to try to win, just trot along the course until the timer runs out and you get credit.

I use that area near Fort Trinity too as well. There’s a giant collection of cheap plants. I forget which kind; think it’s lettuce or asparagus to the north and also very few enemies. Also, it has a good amount of wood. Mithril is a bit harder; I usually head towards south of Caer Shadowfain Waypoint which is a pretty open area if you choose not to engage anything; it also has good amounts of elder wood. In general I prefer Orr dailies because there’s a high chance you’re going to either run into a temple run or champ train run as well which means you can snag that along the way. It’s really as free as it gets when it comes to gold.
HoT event completer is easier than central tyria for the most part because events are denser, and scale better so you don’t have 50 people scrambling across the map to tag an enemy that dies in 2 seconds. I could understand why DS event completer would suck though, given the restrictive timer of the map.
Adventures have a number of problems indeed. A lot of them don’t even clearly show their boundaries so the race ones tend to be annoying. Shooting gallery, while not that hard to get bronze is disoriented and also happens to be very deep in the middle of nowhere where players aren’t going to go…. unless they’re going to shooting gallery. Finally VB adventures have the big issue of not being available half the time, but I guess it is better than before where you had to unlock it via a tedious event chain and then it’d close in 10 minutes anyways because it took so long and night is approaching.

HoT mat collecting can be done in your Guild Hall if you have it built out.
But the issue I have is the assumption that since you have HoT, you must have a character that have mapped out HoT and you are familiar enough to do all those activities. If you are a total newb to HoT you are sort of stuck with PvP and WvW for the dailies when 3 of the 4 PvE is tied to HoT.

Edge of Mists is your friend, especially since it now comes with reward tracks for dungeon skins… yay! I haven’t worried about what was on the Daily PvE list in weeks. I am free!
