Guild Wars 2

I’ll be upfront and point out that beyond playing GW2 and enjoying it, I find that I don’t really have a dog in the current fight with regards to the patch… save for one thing.

That one thing? I’ll get to it in a moment.

My play style is such that the current patch and what it does really won’t impact me a great deal, if at all.
I’m not on for hours at a time and I find more enjoyment in clearing the maps and poking my Charr nose into all possible nooks and crannies ( C rannies not trannies, get outta my gutter).

But, that one thing that gives me pause?
The fact that instead of solving the problem of ’bots and gold sellers, you, Anet, engage in actions that treat the honest players like (potential) criminals, thereby alienating them.
This reminds me of a DRM company.
A company that went to great lengths to abuse, malign, persecute and otherwise intimidate honest players.
Now, what was the name of that company? oh yeah!
STARFORCE!

Many who have been playing for more than 5-10 years will probably remember the stink this caused and how starforce would actually accuse players of being game pirates (and worse), just for complaining about the damage it’s DRM caused to the software environment of the respective comps.

Now you ask “what does that have to do with this patch?”, simply this: instead of trusting the playerbase to do what it has always done and help police the game, Anet chooses paint all it’s players with the same brush and treat us (to varying degrees) with suspicion and punishment for playing the game as THEY designed it.

Pardon me for a moment while I grab a brick and pound my skull soft in an attempt to make sense of the logic, feel free to join me as I have bricks to spare.

I understand that the patch probably won’t be redacted and I really do understand the idea behind it, but please, Anet, do the right thing and apologize for whizzing on us and telling us it’s raining.
Why do I ask this? because a great many of us, if not the majority, have been with you since GW started and deserve far better than to be treated like pickpockets, thieves or muggers.

No disrespect intended, just plain old blunt honesty and forthrightness.

I’ll still be playing because I’m having a grand ol’ time.
