You're My Best Friend.
I recently bought the Brady Games Guild Wars 2 strategy guide. On page 43 under the heading “Making Friends”, it states that “you could meet your best friend for life or your perspective spouse” in-game. I have played other games where the socialization has been either utter foolishness and/or elitism. What is the best way to socialize in Guild Wars 2? Are there any good places in Tyria in which a person can simply hang out and chat? Thanks in advance. Apodelaman. be seeing you.
People congregate in large numbers in Lion’s Arch and Divinity’s Reach. You’ll probably wind up joining a guild, and therein encounter an intrinsic social scene (of all kinds of scale). Servers also have communities and often have their own VOIP setup, you’ll likely meet most of those in the WvW maps.
I met my partner in GW2. Making friends in this game is easy. You can talk to anyone you want

Just be yourself and do things you like to do. Meeting your future ex-wife will happen naturally if you just keep your personality out there for others to see

Haha @ “future ex-wife”. be seeing you.
Yesterday I met a human girl in Queensdale who was wearing nothing but her underpants. We danced and quickly became friends. That Brady Games strategy guide has given you good advice.
I suggest starting by people-watching.
Maybe start in map chat. Not quite a place for enduring friendships of passing each other by (because Megaservers), but if you see someone helpful and/or amusing, try giving them a whisper. If you’re new, ask questions. If not, ask if they’d like to party up.
Or maybe the forums. More or less, same strategy applies. Just beware the malcontented jerks, and you’ll be fine. :P
In either of the above, once you establish a rapport with someone, follow up. “Face time” is very important, and if you let yourself slide into the background, you’ll get deleted from friend lists pretty quick.
Another option is to find a guild you can align with. You can start on the forums at https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/lookingfor

“Perspective spouse,” lol (I imagine you meant “prospective”).
I’ve had some good conversations in Rata Sum. I don’t recommend the human cities if you’re seeking intellect.

I did mean “prospective”. Silly me. be seeing you.
I think the best way to actually get to know people is to join a guild. That way you can talk to them no matter what you’re doing, and many guilds run events for their members.
