With and without armor, Roman-inspired look

Combination of CoF/Arah armors (will change the shoulders to T3 cultural when I have the gold)

I’m satisfied with my character. Although I feel she could look better, I like the gorgeous face but greasy engineer body combination. She seems like the kind of woman you’d be like “yeah, she’s alright” to, then you see her at the beach in a bathing suit and you’re like O__O.

Pretty satisfied with this look, just wish there were good looking back pieces in the game.

This is the ultimate charr ranger look. Period.

As of right now, I like my ranger the most. And yes, I realize the lack of level 80’s :P

Sylvari Necromancer, a lotta love has gone into this guy.

I’ve since deleted this Norn Warrior, however the guardian I’m levelling now will have this combo, only he may have T3 leggings and the T2 helmet. I used the Norn Greatsword (T2 cultural) with this set-up to complete the look.

You tried using Sweetfx yet? Dont have a monster PC, this tool just makes my game look a lot better with the right settings.

My loveley warrior alt (sweetfx preset dark V2).

Yep, doesn’t really fix the problem though. You can straight up the contrast and saturation, but that’ll just be a strain on the nerves.

Shame for a game with such colourful concept art to end up looking so murky.

What do you mean? Thats its annoying to use? And did you use a certain preset for sweetfx or did you tweak yourself? As you can see on my screenshot it looks really sharp and without the overly gloomy layer on top of it.

And my PC is quite meh tbh (AMD Athlon II X4 635 + a 7850).

Nah, I mean it can’t fix what isn’t there.

Shading is always a very complex issue. You can’t just pull a couple “brightness” or “contrast” sliders to make your game look good, but that’s all you’re stuck with in post-processing (which is what SweetFX does). You need to take the right approach to the entire scene first, which isn’t something a bit of contrast will fix later on.

That’s why Celestial and Abyss are the costliest dyes on the market, too. All colors other than black and white often blend into indiscernible mush.

Its not really just the brightness and contrast. The tool has a lot of shader specific options. If you didnt use proper settings it will still look gloomy/mushy as you described.

Just look at my screenshot and tell me if that doesnt look sharp to you? And unlike your screenshots, this is an original untouched screenshot. I can give you the exact settings in game. Doesnt hurt to try right?

Top is my necro’s old clothes, everyone recognizes her in a Wayfarer’s Foothills on Maguuma.
Elementalist old clothes.
Necro current clothes (continued some of my personal story so she’s wearing commando stuff).
