Your favorite "hide away" place?
Reaper’s Corridor, Diessa Plateau
The zone entrance from Sparkfly Fen to Straights of Devastation.
Lornar’s Pass, some of the walls on the western edge of the map are just incredibly scenic.
Everything and anything to do with with Ascalon.
Probably Twinspur Haven in Wayfarer Foothills, just because there’s a vendor, armour repairs, crafting stations and therefore bank access, all it’s missing is a mystic toilet and BL tading post, and I don’t need those very often; it has a wp so you can just jump there from anywhere, you don’t have to struggle through mobs or a jp to get there….
…but most importantly of all, you can totally afk there because there are no events, nothing’s gonna appear while you’re in the kitchen putting a quality snack together and kill ya LOL
There’s a certain spot in Dry Top that has a largish overhang, and the ceiling is just about Asura size. With the sandstorm blowing, there’s a certain level of peace there, Sometimes I like to hide out there while waiting for the Skritt Queen to show up.

Your skin will wrinkle and your youth will fade, but your soul is endless.
I love the underwater cave with the rich platinum node in Timberline Falls. I also love the whole area where Coddler’s Cove is, also in Timberline. The town on the water at the south end of Kessex Hills is gorgeous, as well, and the strawberry patch in Diessa.

Because we can’t be angry about both?
For hiding away, Hall of Monuments.
For general AFK, usually Royal Terrace.
There are quite a few places in Divinity’s Reach where I like to chill out, especially after a big accomplishment, like finishing the personal story for the first time, or completing my bioluminescent armor achievements.
The Hall of Monuments is another great one. It’s so sad, but it still feels like home, too, after GW1.
Oh, and the Chantry of Secrets. That place is fascinating, and it’s nice to visit Demmi once in a while. ~pours one out for you-know-who~

For hiding away it’s instances. Sylvari and charr home instances especially, sometimes Omphalos Chamber.
I also often have go check Braham’s home when I’m running past it.
I do wish there was an instance of Gladium Canton. It’s the prettiest location and I want it all for myself. :/

I would love Hall of Monuments but my characters can’t go there together.
Outside of instances, something I like is the place with crafting stations in Metrica.

Besides for home instances and Hall of Monuments, I actually like to hang out in Mount Maelstrom.
Specifically Dierdre’s Steps, it’s such a nice place.

I like Twinspur Haven too but I have been there when the Wolf Master has actually taken a shortcut right through. That was a few years ago and he was a champion back then. He disconcerted a few people at the crafting tables.
My favourite chill out place is probably my home instance in Salma. I usually stick around there for a minute or so I have finished my gathering for the day.
- Fields of Ruin: the small area left top with the skill point, nice and quiet Secluded Glen
- Fields or Ruin again: small area with the fern hounds north of Wildlin Narrows, just south of mithric cliffs
- Fields of Ruin: Gwen’s Grave.
- in Diessa Plateau: the strawberry farm behind the town of Nolan
- in Bloodtide Coast: the small area in the whisperwill bogs (Rhian’s respite)
- the green parts of wayfarer foothills (Norn starting area)
- Caledon forest as a whole.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.

Snowdrift Haven, Snowden Drifts.
Often go there if I want some quiet time.
All of the ascalonian maps are beautiful with a lot of really beautiful places, with their autumnal look. (I always had a char in GW1’s pre-searing maps too, because I like that beautiful style)
Ebonhawke Strongold is my home, I usually go there after all the adventures around the world. The street where craft stations/bank/trading post are is a lot more calm and peaceful than big cities ones.
And well, it’s nice to go say “hi, little girl” to Gwen, sometimes.
In GW1, ToA, the light house in LA, Ascalon Settlement, Ice tooth cave and the Eye of the North. I also liked the village of Ashford in pre, the waterfall is beautiful. I have many screen shots of it. I always found it calming.
In GW2. The Eye of the North, though, I with I could fix it up a little, Sol Dalesio’s Tomb. The Goonies themed JP(just for the childhood memories of always wanting to go on an adventure like that) the Ascalon settlement.

This large-ish hidden cave in Bloodtide Coast near the trolls village. I think it’s a Guild Trek location but not 100% sure.
And the cave in Metrica with the asura and his bunnies.
Well there’s this one drake nest near the bank of this lake in Queensdale. When I discovered this while doing map completion on my asura, I climbed in it and stayed there pretending it was my new home.
Spelunker’s Delve is one of my favourite little places, as well as the base level of the Grove.

I did that JP today, needed the 10ap for my 10K chest, it is quite a nice place. A little damp, but cosy.

Definitely Lightfoot Passage Cave in Straits of Devastation. I really like the “pocket of nature amidst the corruption” vibe. And all the vines crisscrossing the cave are really cool. Plus it’s a haven for animals :p
Hole in wall, WvW, EBG, dredge tunnel.
Goto place when being chased because more often than not most don’t know about it. Those that do, and still follow, usually end up getting killed. Great place for a last stand and choke point.
Johnny Johnny – Ranger (Ehmry Bay)
Hárvey Wallbanger – Alt Warrior (Ehmry Bay)
Lornars Pass, the vista just outside the Durmand Priory. Hear the wind blowing, see the clouds pass by and feel like the king of the world…. It is especially impressive in stormy weather.
Walking down the river in Timberline Falls, very scenic, reminds me of summer vacations in the alps.

Hi Traced,
Your characters are allowed to go to the Hall of Monuments even if they can’t get the skins. Go to Lions Arch and talk to Sarretok in Hooligan’s Route and he’ll give you a portal stone. (If you don’t see it immediately check the second bag/tab)
Sorrows Furnace
It’s interesting to see the variety of locations people connect with. Some of these, I never gave much thought, but reading about them makes me want to revisit them.
I like Stormbluff Isle (in Bloodtide coast) It’s good for foraging, lumber, and also has some water sections that aren’t annoying. It’s generally a peaceful part in the south though sometimes the Inquest will present a hilariously ineffective threat.
Go up North and find that silly fisherman that gets chewed up by a Drake daily. There’s also a convenient pack of raptors good for poultry meat. Finally, if you’re into karma to linen, you could head west.
Bloodtide coast remains a favorite, namely because I remember using it to get daily dodger from the slimes in the days of old. As a side note, I just like zones on the borders of chaos since just further south you’ll meet up with Teq and the Risen, but it seems peaceful here until the risen slowly appear as you head south. It’s pretty well designed if you ask me. For all of Gw2’s lackluster storytelling, I think the best storytelling is made in the atmosphere in the world itself and props to the people that did that because these zones have an idendity. Well, if you give a kitten about stuff like that and not just about bonking the next red name you see, hoping it’ll drop something shiny; in that case you should ignore this post and just mutter “how pretentious” and move on. But in any case, I come back to this zone more often than I should from an objective point of view, and I never do Triple Wurm either.
Plus pirates. Everything is better with pirates.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

In Wayfarer Foothills several years ago, my guild mates and I found a hidden ice cave underneath the map. For a while, it was our unofficial guild hall.
Hall of Monuments it is
i just like the place … and metal armor is always shiny there^^
i can easily access it with the HoM Portal Stone and leave it again to come back to exactly the place where i have been befre

There’s hot springs tucked in a corner of the Wayfarer Foothills that I love. I think the springs are beautiful, I love all the trees and snow in the norn areas, there’s wolves nearby if I get bored plus a boisterous norn gent you can start fights with.
It gets a fair amount of traffic since it’s the location for a vista, waypoint and a hero point, so it’s great for people-watching as well.
Wayfarer Foothills is just a nice place overall.
I like the hidden mini forest with orange butterflies in The Grove.
I’m not sure if they are still there, but I remember about four entrances to “Teleportasia” that I always used as my hideaways (not counting the old glitches with Phase Retreat)
one in straits of devastation where the Bloodstone Caves were in GW1 (there is a cave that seems to just be incomplete, you can walk forward and do things like fall into a stalagmitethat looked like a stalagtite)
one in cursed shore (tothe north of the first pact camp there is a sort of penninsula on the land (not sure what else to call it), going northwest from there lets you break out of the map)
one in fireheart rise (I walkedup a hill, fell into a crack and into “the ocean below”)
and two in bloodtide coast(walked up amountain, fell through a crack and found myself above a cave roof).
the second bloodtide one is still there in fact: from the waypoint everyone gathers at for TT, try to climb up the mountain from the west(near the WP).you will eventually reach the top and find an incomplete area.
I absolutely ADORE those “un-places”, they feel like a secret that even reality doesn’t know about :P
the HoM and my home instance are my other “get away for a while” places, though I tend to just try and find a mountain or tree that looks climbable and try and get on top of it :P
For AFK: Dredgehaunt cliffs :Steelbrachen WP, just a little northeast, a small rise overlooking the valley, cool purple snow-lightning from time to time.
For WvW downtime: Lions Arch: sanctum cay WP, north and into a cave/bar, has tables you can jump on and a white parakeet that you can practice pulling off multiple stunbreak’s with.
I dont hang out here most of the times but when i do its great to see massive zergs running under you without them noticing you here. Could be a nice place to put a bunch of snipe rangers in there and shoot away.
Madness Rises [Rise] – Banners Hold.
Don’t argue with idiots, they pull you down their level and own you with experience.
Prosperity Mine.
Love just chilling in the pitch black darkness till I see another player come close, then quickly switch to my fiery dragon sword.
Players be like…..

The nooks of Blazeridge Steppes and the quiet snow covered woods of Wayfarer Foothills.
When I say “nooks” I mean the secluded parts of the map with nothing but ambient creatures around. And the Ascalon sunset is overall appealing to gaze at from the cliff sides. Then going to the snow covered woods of the Shiverpeaks just gives a serene feel watching snow slide off the trees and listening to the ambient sounds of animals while napping (headphones).

I always have and always will love Lion’s Arch. I don’t know why, but something about it just appeals to me.
“They can’t see me. I can’t see them.”
Michael J. Caboose ~ RvB
water places are the best chill spots until the day anet decides to put a kraken in it
the weyandt’s revenge jumping puzzle is my favorite place because it was the first difficult jumping puzzle i completed.
In Lion’s Arch, in the NW corner where the cave full of skritt is located, there is an underwater tunnel that leads to a small cave. If LA were a real place, I’d really like to get my hands on that cave.
In the eastern end of LA, where the guild related stuff is, there is a trick to getting into the buildings there. I don’t see the harm in it as there is no practical advantage to getting in there, but seeing as how it’s technically not meant to be accessed, I’m not going to give instructions on how to get there. The amount of work that has gone into the interiors of those buildings, that nobody can see from outside, leads me to believe that it may be a model for guild halls.
Claypool in Queensdale. It has that small town feel. Crafting stations also if you just want to chill and take your time working on stuff.
