So, I was looking for a group in Plains of Ashford today, to do the catacombs…
Well, not only we have to resort to very antiquate means to find a group (no LFG tool? Seriously Anet?), but after three or four messages in /map (every one of the a bit different from the other, and not closer to each other than 5-10 minutes) I’ve got (again) the infamous “Your message was suppressed due to excessive messaging”.
And I wasn’t able to write anything else, even in /say at the dungeon entrance, for more than 20 minutes.
This is infuriating.
How the hell are we supposed to look for a group, where there’s also NO kitten LFG TOOL (and adding a LFG tool should be your top priority, arenanet)? Please tell me.

I understand that you’re trying to stop the gold sellers, but THIS is doing WAY more damage than good.

Possibly change it around so that they aren’t only a little different from one another.

LFG 1M AC vs Hey, need 1 more for Ascalon Catacombs vs Have 4 ready, we just need one more for AC, etc?

Or were they actually that different?

Honestly, given other games, the lack of constant gold seller spam is worth having to think of different ways to phrase things to me.

It is a little excessive. I get it after 3 messages sometimes, and not in rapid sucession. lol

Fact: There IS a lot of gold seller spam. Both in /map in Lion’s Arch and in in-game mail.
Besides… yes, my messages were actually quite different from each other.

Oh. Well then fair, the thing needs to be tweaked a bit then, you’re probably right.

That or someone possibly reported you for spamming? I dunno.

Anyway, if it’s as sensitive as you say it is, does need to get tweaked then, I agree.

It is way too over zealous system currently that it borderlines a cruel joke. I was blocked from using “Thank you.” in WvW and in say/local chat just after 3 times in roughly one hour period.

This happens to me frequently, I’ve taken to alternate between thanks, ty and thank you, wich seems to make things better. But sometimes you forget and instant annoyance occurs

This happened to me when I was trying to find players for Twilight Arbor explorable. After 3 messages over the course of 5 minutes, I was locked out of all public chat for half an hour. I asked another player in the group to send a couple of LFG messages; we got one more player and then he got locked out for half an hour. We asked that player to find someone, and he got locked out too. In the end it took nearly an hour to fill a group because we were literally prohibited from finding players. This is entirely unacceptable.

but it is there, use it and spread the word for others to use it too!

The LFG tool is useless at best, and that is not just because people don’t use it.

An actual dungeon finder would be loads better.

The message suppression is extremely frustrating, I agree.

I was answering some questions for a new player in WvW and said “yup” three times over the course of the conversation. All of a sudden I go silent and he starts apologizing for annoying me and I can’t even respond with a “lol, it’s no problem.”

Now there’s a new player out there afraid to ask questions. /facepalm

ANET is always looking for an “automatic” solution to whatever problem they are addressing, something simple they can set and forget. In this case, they’ve adopted an algorithm that is way too simplistic. This needs to be fixed as it’s obviously affecting innocent players.

In addition, an effective LFG tool needs to be developed. But considering all the other problems ANET is dealing with right now, I’m not expecting to see one anytime soon.

Frankly, I don’t even know what the LFG thing does. I used it, and my status in the guild roster changed to a blue square indicating I was looking for a group. Except I was actually looking for one more person to fill a group, and the only other person online in my guild was already in the group with me.

Yep, have had a similar experience, more than once, 2 nights ago was classic. We formed a group of 3, I sent out 3 or 4 /m messages asking: LF2M AC Exp. Excessive msg crap kicks in, my gf starts looking and not 2 min later she is also suppressed, luckily the 3rd guy got 2 of he’s guild mates to come along. Now in the dungeon we are doing fine, till the second boss, its the room that you control the traps, no waves spawn, so all the frustration to find a group was for nothing, at that point we had enough and logged. Today we logged in again and my friends email auth popped up, no biggy he clicked authenticate and bam, the server could not authenticate your login details so now he can’t play period until he has he’s account restored.

I’m just not playing any more, I can kick myself now for supporting them by buying £80 worth of diamonds for upgrades. Since there is no monthly fee I thought fine, Ill support my new MMO with purchases since I would have been paying more in a year if I was playing most other AAA mmo’s . I will pay those monthly fees ANYTIME not to have to deal with the shoddy codeing and new anti-bot system that f over everyone EXCEPT the bots.

I get this kitten often, trying to recruit or even to help answer questions in Say and Map chat. Unless you do something like 5-10 times in a row saying the same kitten like gold spammers do, other players shouldnt have to put up with this crap.

There is a possibility that saying ‘TY’ or ‘Thanks’ repeatedly when someone rezzes you can trigger the block. If true, Arenanet, fix your filter, that’s just silly.

Meanwhile, when getting rezzed, be sure to mix it up just in case. Learn to say TY in many ways and many languages.

You open the LFG interface, selects the dungeons you’re interested in (or go random, which gives you extra rewards), click “join queue”… and then you’re free to go wherever you go and do whatever you prefer, when you’re at the top of the queue the game prompts you if you want to join the dungeon, if you click yes you’re instantly teleported inside the chosen dungeon.

This game NEEDS something like this, it’s a top priority.
I’m so kitten tired of wasting my time in areas I’m not interested in, having to type LFG messages and having to cope with a silly and broken antispam.
