Well, for many characters the second birthday isn’t that far away. Almost two years the game is running now.
With that in mind, I wanted to ask what’s your most personal moment/relation with the game?
In a time when marriage-proposals or even marriages themself are held in games, that question can hold a lot of memories for people.

Opening this topic, I will start first.

August 25th in 2012.
My grandmothers 71st birthday. We did our best to celebrate it with her, on the intensive care unit.
At the evening, when we had come home, I logged into the game for my pre-order-headstart, trying to relax a bit.
Along with many other characters in GuildWars 2 my first characters share the birthday of my grandmother.
As a professional cook she had taught me a lot about cooking, knowledge I hold dear, and so the first crafting profession I chose was cook.

It wasn’t only the 71st birthday of my grandmother, it was also her last one, a week later she passed away.

Now every year, when I think of my grandmother at that special day, how we used to bake her birthday-cake together when she taught me how to do it and later, when I helped her once she wasn’t able to do it herself anymore, my little asuran cook is becoming a year older.

Sorry to hear about your grandmother.

My most personal relation to GWII is that I started playing it around the time I began trying to battle my Anorexia.

By the gime this game launched I had been fighting several eating disorders for a few years. Then on September 1st.(a few days after launch) my family had to put down our 13 year old dog, which we had had since I was around 3 years old.
I got so depressed that I couldn’t even the tiny portions of food that I ate then. That was when I realized I had to take it seriously.
On September 10th. 2012 I changed my life for the better. I’ve gotten much better since then.

I associate GWII with that part of my life.
It’s kind of funny, because I was having so much fun in this game that the game felt as a reward for chaning everything.

What we do in life echoes in eternity

I am also a professional chef and a while back i was cooking for 2 semesters on the Tallship SV Concordia, which was home to 48 students, who made their high school diploma on board while sailing around the world, +16 pro crew. I had a great time on board the ship and it was something like a home to me. A couple of years ago, the ship sank in a storm 300 miles off the coast of South America. While i was glad that everybody survived, the Concordia is now on the bottom of the atlantic and i will never see her again.

But one of the sailing ships that are included in the Frostgorge Sound Loading Screen is a photoshopped image of Concordia (easily seen on the red dots/red maple leafs on the square sails), so everytime i feel like killing claw of jormag or run a champ train, i get to see her.

The big picture of my attachment shows a part of the loading screen and the small picture beside it is the google image of Concordia.

Wow I’m really moved by your stories.
Reminds me if the time Lotro had an expansion, of Dunland and my mother suddenly went into a coma and died 10 days later at age 58.
It may sound odd but that game kept me from going crazy.
This way I had something to keep myself occupied with because I couldn’t think of her all the time.

I’ve not had such a period in GW2 luckily.
But gaming can be a great way to escape reality when needed.

Not long ago I was taking care of my cat that was dying of a slow and ugly disease. As a break from the heartbreak of watching him wither away I logged into GW2 and moments later he died.

Afterwards I made The Shadow of Grenth for my necro in memorial of him, and consider it the only ‘legendary’ with any meaning to me.

I got the game on my birthday, so my main character and I are a day apart (I started playing the night before). He will forever be the better version of me.

Daughter and I got the game for Christmas in 2012. We worked feverishly to get the game installed on both computers to no avail. Mine was in spec but near used up from years of gaming. Hers was borderline in spec but didnt play it well. We ended up getting the game on two new computers I built near the end of January 2013.

We had lots of fun initially but she being a teenager now has all but abandoned me and GW2 lol. Its either that or she is constantly grounded from anything fun. Teenagers…

I am a mechanic by trade. Put in many hours a week working. Hard work at that. I have found that playing GW2 really helps me relax in the evenings. I look forward to my time here and really connect to my characters. In some way they all reflect who I am. They are me in a world where I can do whatever I want…within terms of the T.O.S. of course

This game is a beautiful world. It is my window to somewhere else and I do dearly love it.
