The problem is that PvE is too profitable.

The problem is that the rest of the game is too unprofitable.

Stop nerfing the few good methods of farming, and instead increase the variety of things you can do to make money, aka playing the game however you want.

Anet needs to take a serious look at the reward incentives at play. Preferably they’ll have someone familiar with Game Theory calling the shots.

Incentives are what is going to determine the behaviour we see, and which content people focus on. And yes, running around in a laggy mess pressing 1,1,1,1,1,1 (preferably on a zerker Guardian with a Staff) is insanely profitable.

Better rewards for harder content please. High level fractals is much more fun and challenging… but you’ll only get a pittance of a reward compared to the most boring and mind numbing activities in the game.

If you only do the shorter dungeon path it is pretty even actually (cof12, se13, ac13, hotw1).

The shorter path take about 20 minute in pug. You get 1.25 gold, 60 token. You do 3 path which 4+ gold and 180 token in an hour, on top of that you get emphreal fragment.

I dont’ think the difference is that big.

I think you just need to make different reward for differnet content which Anet is doing now. You only get emphyreal fragment for dungeon, dragonite ore for event. For karma, best way is fractal.

We might see more use of dragonite ore and empyreal fragment in the future.

Some of the longer/harder dungeon and high level fractal probably could use some fine tuning of reward. It is a bit harder to balance the reward since those content could still be fast for corordinate group, while most pug probably take hours.

That’s nothing compared to what you can get in a zerg farm.

And currently I have no reason for those t7 mats because I’m not throwing my money away to grind for a stupid upgrade for a single weapon on a single character when I have multiple chars to play.

1.1k gold? He must be selling everything he gets his hand on.

I hope anet takes a look at how much gold people are actually making from x activity before taking peoples word for it.

So you have probelm getting exotic gear? Ya I understand. Many people dont’ even have time to play more than a couple hour a week.

Or maybe your miniature collector or cosmetic guy. That could be expensive too. I rather spend my money on ascended weapon.

Maybe they can add more use of empyreal fragment or dragonite ore so people that dont’ want ascended or no longer need it can find a use for it.

Look that’s the sad truth , pressing 111 the whole day rewards you way more than any content in this game and im tiered of it

Why thhis gameplay is so rewarding i feel like im wasting
My time in those dungeons while i could break my 1111 key
And get 5 times the reward i usually make .

Risk vs Reward is broken

Woah! You have a 111 button and a 1111 button? How big is your keyboard?

1 hour of straight champ farming in frostgorge netted me 48 champ boxes in total, which gave me ~2 gold 88s in pure coin. I rarely sell mats, and I salvage all greens in blues.

Your right this new update to world bosses went from pressing 1,1,1,1 to Move > Dodge > 1,1,1,1, > Move > Dodge > 1,1,1,1,.

Dude get real. Zergplay is everywhere in this game. Becuase you need to dodge now and move around. Maybe heal some people isn’t zerging anymore?

I don’t mind the zerging too much in the game. Mostly because, compared to alternatives I’ve had to deal with, it is better.

One of the reasons players can zerg stuff in the overworld is because the reward system in place gives individual loot and credit to the players. Imagine what the game would be like without that: when drops become limited and get determined by stuff like who attacked first, which group did more damage, or are randomly distributed to people in the area. Then, other players become your enemies, because they take rewards directly away from you. Group play is no longer encouraged, and the more people that are present, the less likely you are going to get anything. Other players will automatically troll you just by playing the game the way the devs intended.

Or take the other side, and put an arbitrary player limit on stuff or events. That’s fine, but it removes the dynamic nature and removes cooperation on events. Even in my WvW based guild, they’ll sound off events going on in PVE, so a bunch of guys will gather together to fight it. But with forced instancing, you can’t join your friends, or you’ll miss the event altogether due to overflow like mechanics. Then, it becomes a “first come first serve” kind of thing, and if you get there in time you’re stuck with whatever people happen to arrive at the same time you do. Slow loaders and connection problems now make players lose rewards more than ever. Of course, people wanting to do events will arrive early, stand around and wait for the event, and screw everyone who would otherwise arrive “just in time”.

When I see a bunch of players running around, all auto-attacking a champion and then running to the next, it doesn’t make me that mad. Sure, I hate it when it lags the zone or when they farm by purposefully failing events so we can’t progress, and I generally don’t like endless grinding they do, but at least I can solo wander in the overworld without having to worry about killstealing, or being locked out of something due to a player limit.

I don’t have opinions. I only have facts I can’t adequately prove.

IMO, champ farm zerging is too profitable for the effort/skill required. Yes, there should be more ways to earn gold and people should not need to feel forced into this form of gameplay in order to keep up economically.

That said, champ farm zerging still sits easier with me than that ember farm exploit.

I am not a game developer but I don’t think it is necessary for me to suggest an alternative in order for me to state an opinion or observation. This I leave to A-net to figure out; they’re paid to.

Side note: I posted that video to show that running champions is not as profitable over dungeons as it was being made out to be, the fgs champ run has already been nerfed a couple times, and the people in queens are probably making less than what was in that video.

I don’t see that much wrong with it, it’s a quick access activity that you can jump in to as soon as you log in, and it’s a way to make a little gold for those who don’t like dungeons, or want a break from them.

You don’t need a certain type of gear, and you don’t have to look for ripple to play with, you can just jump in and go.

Agree.. the end game should give more reward and “glory” something like fotm or other type of content. I understand the living world is a strenght of the game but its becoming a problem for many players and the game cause in gw2 its better zerg everywhere than know how to do a content… also challenging contents is all about zerg like tequatl, make some mechanism like that for party or guild mission so ppl can learn and organize, can menage everything… its the big fail of rhis game, i love it really, but u need to focus on the right way cause actually u give nothing more then zerg for gold and mats farm for legendary and a no sense fotm as endgame…

Two things contribute to this.

1. zergs make events scale up, and with the current scaling code that means more champions.

2. event mobs drop loot. And with more champions you get more champ specific drops.

I observe that ANet has removed drops on Tequatl event spawns, and i really hope they do this across the game. The incentive should be to end a event as quickly as possible to get the awards, not keep it hanging in a state of eternal in-completion so that more high value mobs will spawn.

A whole other issue is that the lack of friendly targeted skills, and the low limit on most hostile AOE massively favors a dense pile of characters rather than spreading out to avoid being hit.

By clumping together (stacking?) You increase the effectiveness of both caster centered and ground targeted beneficial skills, and decrease the time it takes to get someone back on their feet when downed.

you can tell that ANet never really considered this as just about every mob will spray their AOE wide by default, in the belief that we will be spread out. But by instead bunching together, few gets hit because of the pr AOE target limit. And those that get hit have a high number of people helping them back up making recovery time minimal.

I thought it was a fun game for the last year. I still play off and on. Removing Auction Houses and seeing what they are doing with Reaper of Souls…game looks boss.

But tying this reply to the topic: I dont know what is going on with the GW2 economy. Ectos are all over the place. First they are at 35 silver a pop. Then drop to 18.. and now with silly ascended gear, they are back up to 32. And Ectos are tied to a ton of things in the game. They are almost as valuable as gold. I can no longer afford what I want. I have to…wait for it…grind and farm these ectos for days on end. Thats not fun. Who is watching this stuff? I think arenanet needs to do something drastic similar to what blizzard did with diablo 3 auction houses..(which they are removing).

Karma is as abundant as air, and as useless as the Kardashians.
