I think Zhaitan never died at the end of the Personal Story, you can’t just kill an Elder Dragon with a few cannon.

Most likely ArenaNet will reveal something like raiding at PAX, they have said they are working on something like raiding a few weeks ago.
It would make sense to release raid content for bigger bosses, especially with this Living Story, they are going to have some huge kitten bosses along the way and raiding fits perfectly. A huge battlefield for Zhaitan with a lot of different objectives, on ground, in the air, underground, on the water.

Raiding in GW2 could be really interesting, if you look at it with a perspective from Dynamic Events and how much variety they have with objectives etc.

ok, i’ll the same comment then:

If they are going to be like the zerg/zerks we have today, then what’s the point?

Unless they somehow force guilds to formations and strategy using a variety of gear and builds, then I see no point in doing it. We already have content to zerg/zerk

Zerk is the average Joe build. Don’t pat yourself in the back too hard.

If they are going to be like the zerg/zerks we have today, then what’s the point?

Unless they somehow force guilds to formations and strategy using a variety of gear and builds, then I see no point in doing it. We already have content to zerg/zerk

It’s not going to be the typical wvw or farming zerg. If they add a lot of different objectives to the raiding instance, all objectives being important the raid will spread out and have to complete different objectives in order to progress further in the raid and at some point defeat the raid encounter.

Objectives could be, for example

A. Stop the naval fleet of the risen at the sea
B. Protect the supply caravans
C. Build cannon, turrets, ballistas
D. Protect the megalaser from being destroyed
E. Slow the main army of undead from reaching point X
F: Collect X to load up the megalaser with more energy
G: Defeat undead dragons in the sky to reduce the danger from above
H: Protect the engineers underground while they plant the bombs to blow up the cave and stop undead from getting into your “base”

etc

But the combat dynamic will still be a zerg/zerk. That is very similar to what guild missions are now. I’d really love to see content where 12-24 or 30 players have to work together in a tight formation rather than just run, zerk, run again.

I think it would be nice to see them implement invasion-style content specifically for Orr with a Zhaitan fight closer to the Jormag encounter and allow us to “cleanse” portions by claiming land the way you do in wvw. Then after 2 weeks just revert the map to a fully cleansed ruins for rebuilding. I think thats a living story more poeple would be interested in following instead of these minor villains we have been seeing.

Would need to be instanced to avoid zerging, and like someone said, it needs to encourage strategy, communication, build diversity rather than 20 people running zerker or knights gear.

Yes, of course it will be instanced. There’s no way to do raiding in an open zone, it would just be bad and laggy.

In Guild Missions everyone are doing the same objective, for the most. What i just described here is a lot of different objectives you have to do at the same time or close to the same time, so you will have to spread out. This is just an example, they may do more time-based objectives as well, so you would need better coordination with your party etc.
