Zodiac weapon skins!!
heh. i agree about the RNG crap. the last 3 events where you could get skins from a box i spent lots of real money on them and never got one skin (not to mention not even one scrap (the one where you need 10) out of 14 chests last event). Anyway, 3 days leading up to this patch i traded in lots of my gold for 1300 gems. now this time…having gained wisdom, when i noticed how much i wanted the Zodiac Hammer to match my toon that is all about “Crushing” things, i saw that it was on sale for 51 gold. So…i traded my 1300 gems for gold and bought it outright. Granted…i lost about 10 gold from Anet in the transfer rate back for gold, but i’d rather lose 10 gold, than all the gold i spent on gems to TRY at RNG. Complaining won’t do anything guys, Not buying black lion keys will wisen them up. All they care about are the sales numbers and trends -not you.
I like several of the new zodiac weapon skins. Yes, I realize they are carried over / make overs from GW1. However, I really didn’t like the GW1 versions all that much.
These however…. there are several I do like, and over time perhaps I can work towards acquiring one or two. I sure wish BL keys dropped (as in from mobs, not talking map or story completion here) a tad more often (like more than one per character) for me.
Still many thanks to the artist(s) involved in [re]designing such nice weapons.
I take back everything I said- the skins are available on the TP- so the are tradeable.
That is a very good step.
Rng sucks no doubt but at least there is another option
While i was quite dissapointed with the skins yesteday, I ended up previewing them once again and noticed they have a very cool watery effect on it, the skins overall are nice as they are more detailed now.
Only thing i hope is they make it a little more dark blue, whole point of zodiac was seeing the constellations in the night sky not in the bright day light.
Anyways, Thank you Anet for adding in the skins, and making them not account bound, I was able to buy a few directly from TP.
i agree lanfear…opposite of what i hear many say. i liked more than half of these skins. Who cares how they compare to gw1…i enjoy them just fine and thought the weapon artist did a great job. i’m a graphic designer in real as well…not that that makes my opinion THAT much more important; it really is in the eyes of the beholder. But, there is definitely talent behind THESE skins.
I like the GW2 skins more and YES i owned zodiac skins in GW1.
I even had a ranger named Zodiac.
I prefer the zodiac skins from gw1 and what were they thinking with that warhorn? I would be happier in general if the effects that weapons had were on the surface of the weapon (tormented weapons/voltaic spears gw1) rather than a field around the weapon (everything in gw2). The particle effects on gw2 weapons all look the same except for the color.
For people who familiar to Chinese zodiac, they will understand why these animal-liked skins could be called zodiac.
I am impressed on a Chinese zodiac serious weapon; but as GW player, I would be happier to see tatolly new weapon Chinese zodiac skins rather than mixing with the original zodiac weapons.
I had a nice collection of Zodiac weapons in GW1 (a couple dozen of each type) gathered during the heyday of the vampire farm. I loved the skin. One of my favorites (another fave being the Celestial). But, I like the GW2 version better.
