Not only has it (and a bunch of other old skins) been added back already just recently but the price has already dropped massively to a completely acceptable 300-400g and will probably continue to drop even lower.

You can buy it right now on the TP for about 400 gold.

You could buy gems with real money, convert them to gold and buy it that way.

The exchange rate changes a lot, but right now 400g would be approximately 2,500 gems.

Which is just about $30 if I’m not mistaken, that’s… pretty steep for one weapon.

Throw 4 rare weapons into the Mystic Forge.
The average of the 4 should be at least 75 to get a level 80 item, which I believe is the only way to get the shield (but don’t quote me on that yet lol).

Use 4 shields if you want to guarantee the result of the forging is a shield.

Note that the result will be a RANDOM level 80 rare shield so you may have to do this many times before you get the shield you want out of it.

It’s like pulling the lever on a slot machine. What are the odds of 7-7-7 coming up? That’s about the odds of your shield spitting out of the forge.

Yes, because these weapon skins are specifically tied to 4 rares being thrown in.

I’d recommend simply playing through the game, salvaging things you get as drops and hitting every node you see everywhere, then refining those materials and selling them on the TP. Any tier 6 mats like the Vial of Powerful Blood you should amp up using the appropriate Mystic Forge recipe, and sell on the TP after you’re done. You won’t get the shield today, but give it a week or two of consistant mats farming and selling, and you’ll probably have the gold to just buy it outright.

Promote items to the next tier in the mystic forge, refine them with crafting.

And unless you can basically play the game like a full time job, he is seriously understating the amount of time it will take to earn 400 G doing that, or in any other way for that matter.

now, if only they’d bring back the molten jetpack…

For guaranteed rare items, do the World Boss circuit. The first time you kill each one each day you are guaranteed a rare weapon.

Brake out your wallet and gems to gold. You said you’d pay good money for it.

The shield isn’t going anywhere. If anything the price is going to drop lower now that they’ve added a way to get it again.

Which means you don’t need to get the gold to buy it now, or even in a week or two.

You could just play and save up whatever gold you get as you go along until you have enough. Or you could speed it up by doing things like making sure you harvest any materials you see and selling all materials you don’t need. (For example I rarely do any cooking so if I want gold I sell all the cooking materials I’ve acquired.)

You can make more gold if you use crafting to refine them first (e.g. turning iron ore into iron ingots) but you need to have levelled up crafting to refine anything except the first tier, so that may not work for you.

You can also convert other currencies into gold by buying things you can sell. For example you can buy Tier 6 crafting material bags with Laurels and then sell the materials, or buy mid-level armour with karma, use the Mystic Forge to convert it to salvageable pieces and then sell the materials from them. (That last one can be very profitable but it’s quite boring to do.)

None of those take a lot of time or skill so anyone can do them. The downside is they can be slow (especially converting laurels to gold since you only get them every few days) but if you’re saving for something you really want it’s not hard to be patient.
