custom outfits.

apply transmutation charges to a custom outfit, shared between characters that acts as a regular outfit just with existing armor pieces. any blank slots would just show your equipped armor.

the current system is kinda garbage, with the entire endgame premise is based around looks & the only way to change them is through the gemstore/pvp, every single time you get new gear or a character.

to buffer the slight loss in transmutation charges through the gemstore, anet could give you 3 custom outfits by default, and you could buy more in the gemstore for 500+

So not outfits anymore instead more like mix and match outfits/armor skins?

Rather see more outfits converted into armor skins then mate.

That’s almost certain never going to happen even once (maybe a part of a skin). The very reason for outfits is that they don’t need to be mixed & matched.

The OP’s idea is much more likely, which is why a lot of folks have suggested it, in various different ways.

  • Pay gems to buy a custom outfit slot. You choose the pieces and get unlimited use as an outfit.
  • Saved skins — not an outfit, but rather the game just remember which set of skins you chose. Usually suggested as an update to the wardrobe; probably more likely as a gem store option.
  • Combinations of the two.

Custom outfits will require a lot of work, from the UI to the code behind the scenes. Saved skins would be easier, because it’s just saving a list, rather than a new mechanic. I’d be happy to see either in the game.

I’d suggest, OP, to not change appearances on your characters until they reach L80, at the very least, or, better yet, until they have acquired their Exotic or Ascended gear.

There is also, rather than just Gem Store/PvP, map completion for Transmutation Charges. Guaranteed for Cities, and nearly guaranteed for other maps.

Good luck.

I like the idea, but I would do it like this:

Take the current equipment window where you can turn on and off certain pieces – make duplicate windows for “costumes”. Maybe you get 1 window “free” with the 3rd expansion and each new window after that can cost gems.

Each Costume window has a toggle to view on every single gear slot and a separate slot for outfit, backpack and glider with toggles to view.

If you slot an outfit and turn off one gear piece, the base armor shows through. Maybe they could do this by coding the armor gear pieces to “overlay” that part of the outfit if the toggle is disabled. This would probably cause clipping but a lot of players have stated that they would rather have additional choices even if there is clipping.

Oh I see I miss read the OP totaly.
With 183 transumtation charges I dont see why its needed maybe OP should map complete more and change armors less untill they have a buffer?
