although im a wvwér, Im coming across this more and more. i logged in to see more rangers afk thismorning outside red in the silverwates and it is frustrating knowing that people just afk in the silverwates for free loot and whatever. ( i let them die and tell people not to res them, but the npcs around res them no matter what)

Is this frowned upon or what?

If i wated to name and shame, i would have posted their account names. although i didnt take Tos into account, im sure this by far goes against something more then Tos

It amounts to the same thing. It’s against ToS.

Its annoying but its their time that’s being wasted not yours. Knocked out and nude or playing actively; these guys probably aren’t missed anyway.

no it is not in any way against the rules …….but all this thread wil do is give more people the idea to do this, besides its not really a big deal

You posted a screenshot of their character names did you not?

Only reason I am replying and concerned about this, is because I could simply made a similar screenshot of totally innocent players.

read the above. i even went back 36 mins later. they have not moved

Seen the same thing happen with various classes (though rangers seem to be easiest because of pets).

Also see it happen allot at world bosses. People will do just a little bit of damage then afk.

It makes me really hate open world stuff because them simply being there means it scales up.

This leads to arena.net needing to make the fights excessively easy because if they didn’t between the AFK leechers and people who have know idea WTF they are doing the few who are paying attention would not be able to carry the event otherwise.

This in turn makes me wish they would implement instanced raiding.

They could make the events harder, and reward as much as they wanted. If people complained they could say it’s intended for organized guild groups or at least organized groups of friends.

This is why I support the idea of ranger free servers for PvE. Imagine it. No more afking, no more point blank shot, no more bear/bows at Teq. Ahhh.

I’m pretty sure they are struggling on a fix for this.

The standard fix is to remove what is causing the problem, but they are adamant that there aren’t petless rangers.

I didn’t see the screen shots before they were removed. Though if a player wanted to stand idle for 24 hrs straight, it’s still ok to do so.

If you play NA then one of them is a pretty regular name. I see him afking at various spots where events spawn. Quite often nude since people just have to revive him.

Its not about just being idle. Its about being idle in areas where you’ll get hit, triggering your pet to fight and earning you event chests. Even if you die, I believe some NPCs will pick you back up.
