Do the number of days tell us anything relevant?

(I don’t have a strong opinion about precursor drop rates; I’m just interested in the way information is presented as a rhetorical matter.)

I suppose we can calculate, on average, how many hours a day each poster plays, but most of what I’m getting from this thread is “RNG stinks.” Which it does.

How much wealth have each of you raised over that time, including gold-convertible assets? (If I craft ascended armor, for example, my current gold total is going to be substantially lower than my overall wealth once I factor in things I’ve spent that gold on.)

Pointless thread. A player who spends 4k hours in dungeons skipping mobs (like I do) has far less chance of a precursor than someone who has spent 1k zerg farming Orr.

There is no correlation between time spent playing and # of precursors dropped, only how you spend your time.

But to answer, 4k hours.

I don’t know I spent 2 months a year ago, avg 13.23 hr. per day, farming Orr, and would guess altogether 1,000 or more hours there in the past year and a half without a drop. Just RNG.

The highest number in your account name determines the probability of ever getting a precursor.

If 9 is the highest number in your account name, your chances of getting a precursor drop is divided by 9.
etc.

If you manage to get an account name ending in .0000, the game gives you a precursor on every drop because it cant divide by 0.

Have you considered that people might be afk? for alot of that time?

~1800 hours, ~400 days, ~150% MF and no drop. Even if I get a drop at this point, I will sell it and covert to gems to upgrade bags and other stuff instead of investing more real cash…

I’ve also been playing since the beginning, and have had no precursor drop.

And now seeing the post of the guy with every Legendary, I dunno whether to cry or laugh.

I had a peak of precursor drop when I had less than 500 hours of play time.

1991 Hours, 631 days. Nothing. Meh.

Infact if I get a exotic drop a month Im lucky.

I got my first in Mystic Forge a year ago in Feb. My second one was in a chest in CoF about a month later. My third was about 5 months after that in the MF.

RNG.

The real issue? ArenaNet spending over a year talking about giving us a pre-cursor system and then quietly getting rid of the idea and also not adding in new Legendaries.

Well, to answer that question. Yeah, I worked for 20+ years, then spent another 20 raising children & working part-time. Now I’m over 60 and semi-disabled, but I do tend my grandson a couple of days a week. GW2 is my escape where I can run and do what I would LOVE to do in real life, so to speak.

so, no I personally wasn’t afk those 5k hours.

This thread has inspired me to finally use the /age command, for the hell of it.

It appears I’ve only played my main for 864 hours of the 2160 hours I’ve played since I started playing 631 days ago. And no, for all that time I’ve never had a precursor.

631 days / 3332 hours, no precurser, no ascended drop even

over 4,300 hours— 0 precursors

8 of my characters are level 80.

Precursor drop @ 700 hours
My current age @ 2300 hours

Time since pre: 1600 hours

In-game age = 632 days, 5.8k+ hours (across all characters).

Forged The Legend at 596 days and 5.6k+ hrs.

Nothing before or since.

1…retired people play this game.
2. some people work and still play for long hours. afk/insomnia etc.
3. Some people have disabilities that prevent them from working.

4256 hours, droped last year at pavilion dusk, and some weeks or months later spark from veteran guard in wvw, taged it first, both times was dps setup build guardian so maybe dmg dealt rises chance for better drop, when I drop dusk I didn’t use npc MF boost but got food so was below 100 MF then but at wvw I was bettween 150 – 200 MF.

“Each monster has a damage table and a threshold value of damage done to it by the player before it will give full credit for the kill. This value is about 5% to 10% of the monster’s health” (from wiki about loot)

so playing cleric guard is not the way to get better chance for pre :P
