anet can you stop making outfit. can you more care about player and not money!!

outfit not = armor skin or armor
you selling 700gem for 1 outfit instead of armor skin. The true is that save up your labor fee to make big profit.
(1 outfill need 1 design but 1 amor skin need 3 design.)

if armor skin selling for 800gem in the first place , outfit should only cost 300gem

i want new armor skin to do mix and match. todays skin its too limited .

let me ask you guys how long you havent seen a armor skin show up on TP?

yea more armor…

-class specific designed armor
-cultural class specific designed armor
- more cultural sets in general
- cultural designed armor useable by all races (sorta like dungeon armor)
- “trophy armors” made from materials from bosses\iconic mobs
-fractal armor
-wvw armor(s)
-“weightless” gloves, boots, headgear and shoulders (like we already got here and there)
- Costume splitted up to skins aswell and sold side by side with normal costumes

Outfits suck because they can’t be mixed with other sets. They literally hold no purpose and would be better implemented as armor sets.

I would ask that you try to read this little sticky in the Guild Wars 2 Discussion subforum.

I believe the outfits they made available in the gem store for Halloween are not new ones but ones that were released in the previous years’ events. So they haven’t really been making a ton of outfits either. Last armor set that I can think of off the top of my head for the gem store would be the Incarnate Light Armor from the April 2014 Feature Pack.

Also, Outfits are not like armors. They may not be able to be mix-n-match’d, but they are available to all your characters (more accessible now after the Sept. 9 Feature Pack) and do not cost transmutation charges to re-apply. So I would think the 700 gems is a fair price for that.

Okay. I’ll assume you didn’t take my advice on the reading bit, so I’ll bite… How and where did you get that 20%? And correct me if I’m wrong, but I highly doubt that liking armor sets to mix and match and wearing outfits are not mutually exclusive. And to answer your question, I wouldn’t know because I don’t speak for the entirety of the GW2 community. What I can say is that I’ve seen a fair amount of people wearing the Halloween outfits lately (whether they recently bought those or are just putting them on for the spirit of the upcoming event is beyond me).

Also, that’s for the gem store full armor set that I can think of. Dunno ‘bout you, but there are a lot of armor skins out there that aren’t in the gem store.

…I really don’t get your logic. There are far more armor skins (sets or otherwise) than outfits, far far more than 4 times. So why is it that you fixated on the 20% of people wearing them? I would say the amount of sales those items have gotten in the gem store would be a better approximate, but then that data is only for Anet, as does the decision of whether or not those outfits are good or not. Further more, this brings us back to your initial post: Anet hasn’t made all that much outfits to begin with. What are you complaining about?

Your next paragraph is fine (somewhat) if you were arguing for them to release more armor sets alone, but does nothing when you argue that outfits are the cause of them not doing so. I don’t really know how much armor skins are out there, or if how much they’ve added (not really an armor skin aficionado), but they have released a lot of weapon skins along with the LS2 if that helps.

You’re comparing two very different games to design armor for. Designing armor for humans only is a lot easier than having to design for five races, clipping and all that. This also doesn’t really help your initial argument, which you’ve yet to make any significant case for.

I didn’t like them too until I realised you could toggle them off and on whenever you want on any character you have, even a new character without wasting any transmutation stones. Sure, it impedes creativity but I think it’s saved me quite a bit of money and some of them don’t look half bad too.

Indeed – they don’t look half bad, and the toggle is a fun option. But i myself would still much, much prefer being able to mix ‘n match over any of the advantages outfits give. Like on of my current favorite in-game skins – profane.
I just don’t see the necessity of forcing these things into outfits – they’re doing the designing for the entire thing anyway – why not give us the option of adding the individual pieces as skins to the wardrobe when we buy the outfit?

I think it’s sheer complexity of them. Armours are designed to be split-able between certain areas, but outfits are meant to be whole, or in other words:

Designing outfits with interchangeable parts would be no different than a new suit of armour – which I think outfits are meant to be not. And I think outfits are easier to make, since you don’t have to plan how to make them work with other skins.

Yup, with a skin, they’d have to make 1 for each armor class, then make sure each piece for each armor class doesn’t clip with any of the other hundreds of skins already in the game.

We get it. We know some of you want skins and only skins. There’s plenty of us that actually prefer outfits though, for the numerous reasons listed.

There are a grand total of 10 outfits in the game, there are around ~180 different armor sets of the 3 weights (60 per weight) so your number shouldn’t be 20% but ~5.5%

When I’m at a big event, waiting for guild missions, or doing a community/guild event there are way more people with costumes. skins and appearances aren’t here only for the dungeons and combat in general.

I don’t mind Anet selling outfits (costumes) in the store because that is where they truly belong and I feel they can make as many as they want.
However, armor skins, on the other hand, belong in game as drops/rewards and (in my opinion) should be added to the game as often or nearly as often as outfits are added to the gem store.

Rannndom off topic/ on topic question. Buying the Halloween costumes, can you still wear them after the event time, or do they go away until the next year? Also, buying any costume in general, are those permanently yours or can you only wear them for x amount of days?

Just curious, I’ve looked on the wiki and can’t seem to find an answer and I won’t name names but I have played games where you could buy an outfit and it had say, a 30 day duration, which kind of stunk.

If it does have a duration, then +1 to no outfits lol.

if you played gw1 before check out how many armor got after 2 years. as least double.

I read this quite often, that GW1 didn’t ever had more armors than GW2 had at release, that’s the sad truth.

GW1 armors:
Prophecies: 55
Factions: 66
Nightfall: 54
EotN: 40
Total: 215*2 = 430 different armor sets (male/female versions)

GW2 armors:
Light: 61
Medium: 60
Heavy: 60
Total: 181 different armor sets, of those 15 are cultural sets, which is 24 if you also count the different genders, (6 Human, 6 Sylvari, 6 Norn, 3 Charr, 3 Asura).
The remaining 166 armor sets come in 4 versions (male/female Human/Norn/Sylvari, Charr, Asura version) for a total of 664 different armor sets.
Combined we get the final total of 688 different armor sets in GW2.

Guild Wars 2 has nearly 150% the amount of armors GW1 had even if you combine every single GW1 expansion.

Transmutation charges are very easy to come by both in game and in the gem store. I have used them freely and still have 146 left. I love mixing and matching my armor and frankly have become rather bored since no new armors have come out for a while. I don’t think I’d mind outfits, if they just alternated between releasing them and armors (maybe 1 armor for every 2 outfits released).

This. This is such a good idea. It would probably be a lot of admin to implement, but I would be thrilled if Anet did this. I know I’ve said in other posts how it was a bit sad to lose some of the town outfit freedom of mixing and matching, but I understand they have the clipping issues thing. Having some setup where you could at least dye your outfit’s boots independently of your outfit’s gloves, say, would be quite a cool feature.

That said…..I’m not entirely sure why there is so much focus on outfits having clipping issues when a lot of them were already released in separate parts, and I have used a lot of armour that has had clipping issues – mostly leg armour forcing it’s way through my characters boots.

I would buy and use transmutation charges but… have nothing to use them on. And i do not agree that more people wear outfits over armor. I look at other characters a lot and if i had to hazard a guess at how many wore outfits i would say 5%, NOT including special occassions like halloween (since honestly that’s what i would say these costumes are made for).

They make the armour, people complain that it clips with their other armour, or doesn’t mesh right with their other armour.

So what reason do they have to make ~30 new armour skins (3 weights, 2 genders, 5 races, I say around 30 because Asura/Charr might not have different male/female skins) just to get complaints about how it doesn’t mesh right with 100 other potential items, when they could just make one armour set for each race/gender that only needs to mesh with itself and be done?

I’d prefer they just open up all skins to all armour weights. I have some light armour wearers that would like to slip on a Magitech skirt, and some heavy armour wearers that wouldn’t mind slipping into something a little more comfortable.

You’d be right. If some outfits didn’t clip with themselves. Every single complaints regarding armor pieces are made for outfits too : clipping, charr tails/horns, gender differences, with the added “bonus” of not being able to mix-match them.

Don’t delve too deep trying to figure out the reasoning behind Anet producing outfits instead of armor. It’s faster and less troublesome to do.

The increasing number of players wearing them is linked to :
-it’s a new thing
-some of them aren’t too bad
-the transmutation cost

But a lot of players aren’t buying them because they don’t want to wear the whole set at the same time.

Yeah. I enjoy mixing my armour weights. The outfit slot is essential for that. It’s also nice just have two options to toggle between (armour -> outfit visa versa).

It goes without saying that Anet can keep throwing out armour skins and outfits – I’ll be happy with either (but I still totally want satyr legs for females on that new halloween outfit! I saw it on a male sylvari and thought “Satyr legs! OMG! Must endulge!” Was a little disappointed at seeing the outfit had boots for females instead. If you have run out of mix and match combinations you aren’t trying hard enough. Anet releases more sets than outfits if you count every tier (light medium heavy) and honestly it will always stay this way because outfits are easier to make like the OP said. Lately on my main I have been running full duelist with glasses, but I switch it up on a weekly basis. Personally I love outfits and have purchased at least 5 of them. Sets like the fancy winter outfit and Ceremonial Plated add a lot of variety to how you can make your character look. When they released the Ceremonial Plated outfit they honestly gave heavy armor to any class, and I love that. Looking at it from a ‘We need more sets’ perspective is completely wrong imo. Outfits are awesome, and add a lot of variety to this game that it wouldn’t otherwise have.

Fasten your seatbelt.

There are 9 outfits (one of them is hidden. I know, big deal).

There are 1435 individual armor skins (each weight class counted separately, race and gender variations ignored), mostly strewn across 181 armor sets.

What constitutes a set? A set is all related pieces for a suit of a particular weight class. This usually constitutes 6 pieces, but can go as low as 3.

Numbers accurate as of 10/2/14.

However, I don’t think future outfits should be sacrificed for more armours. We should be receiving more of both.

It would be lovely for outfits to retain their outfit status, but also allow us to access separate parts of the outfit to mix and match (even if there was some sort of limitation, e.g. you can only mix and match outfit parts with other outfit parts). There would need to be some sort of limitation to mixing and matching outfits, because right now an outfit costs less than an armour skin set and outfits don’t cost transmutation charges to equip.

Hello.

I Think outfits are good value for money in that they are free to apply, however

They have re-released outfits you could already buy and said they are new…like the witch and mad king.

The older outfits came with toys such as a broom stick, and scepter for costume brawl, the lich outfit comes on its own with no add ons but costs the same price.

The Char and ausra outfits are male only versions, so you pretty much have topless female Ausras, and the Char lose the tail!

You can’t mix and match outfits, but okay you can hide the hood on the lich outfit?

Can’t they make armour and outfit skins so there is choice, so you have the same skin thats both armour and outfit. and its been ages since there was free content updates, everything is gemstore.

I’ll say it straight up.

I’d spend 2100 gems for that hood alone. I’m not spending 700 on a crappy-looking hoof-man-thing.
