The people that are willing to farm the components to build a legendary are the people that have the alpha ‘melee’ mindset, warrior, guardians, thiefs. That’s why you see the greatswords and incinerators everywhere.

Meanwhile the players that play the support ‘ranged’ roles get their game enjoyment from helping others and are not going to take the time to farm a legendary for themselves. That’s why you don’t see Meteorlogicus, The Minstrel, or Howler anywhere.

OR quip is the ugliest thing possible and the predator doesnt look right shooting from the hip.

More legendary skins are needed as some of the ones for certain weapons dont work like the ones i just mentioned.

getting a twilight is like punishing yourself to get the soon to be common item that costs a lot.

learn from the hipsters. they go to thrift stores and make those fugly items look cool.

There are lots of legendaries out there that you don’t notice. Sunrise/Twilight are simply highly visible compared to others. I personally think they are ugly and wouldn’t even spend 10k karma for one though.

Instead of adding more legendaries, we need more skins in the middle. Ones that require more than a handful of materials but less than full stacks of rare materials. Like corrupted/destroyer weapons or 50 ectos instead of 250.

My problem with legendaries isn’t the asthetics, it’s the stats.

I mean, The Dreamer would be a lot of fun for me. I have two thieves and three rangers. I’m sure one of them could use it except…

It’s power/toughness/vitality.

This is not a thief or ranger weapon. Those classes usually want power/precision/crit damage or power/precision/cond damage on their shortbow because the weapon attacks work best that way, and both classes are more mobility-kiting oriented when using a ranged weapon than they are bunker oriented.

So while I could prolly make any of the legendaries in fairly short order, I simply have no desire to do so. And since sticking those skins on exotics removes their legendary status, I’m not going to do that either knowing that ascended weapons are coming.

Yeah but when the ascended weapons come, u can use their stats and the legendary skin, so that’s not a big problem…
The real problem is the lack of skins.
Greatswords are fine and you can choose which skin u want. U want to play a dark kitten warrior? Take Twilight. You want to play a shiny holy knight? Take sunrise… that is a great system and works for the greatsword… but the other?!

You want to play a dark staff necro? Yeah Bifrost really doesn’t fit that style.
You want to play a kitten thief? Yeah Dreamer is really great for that… Unicorns really fit that style…. lol….

We need more skins to choose from or everyone will wield a sword/greatsword as legendary because the others…. well I think the skins speak for themselves..

To those insisting that The Dreamer was made for bronies….I’ll have you know that my appreciation of The Dreamer’s aesthetics has nothing to do with me being a brony. I’d still think it was gorgeous even if I wasn’t one (which may just end up being the case one of these days). >_>

I also love Kudzu even though people give it a lot of sass too. I think it’s gorgeous and would be perfect for my sylvari ranger.

But I don’t disagree that there needs to be more selection as far as legendaries go. And frankly, I think that if you obtain a legendary, you should be able to change its stats at will to suit your preferred build. They’re already a grind for power, so might as well make their stats mutable so that players of all builds can enjoy them.

I’d love to be able to adjust Kudzu to a Pwr/Pre/Crit setup for my glass cannon ranger.

Might be getting a little tired of them yeah. And definitely of all the warriors and guardians running around with CoF armor(it seems like most of those are charr or is it just me?). Though I would be way more impressed by someone with Mjolnir or Infinite light, both for the dedication which is almost eaqual to the legendaries and for their “originality”(. And the fact that gold buyers won’t gt those cause gold buyers buy to show off and legendaries does that way better than the ones I listed).

I also saw a guy with Kudzu in WvW the other day. So I killed him . Can’t expect anything else if you’re running around with a legendary in WvW.

And I almost forgot. I’m going for Aether myself. I still really like the look of The Dreamer but it’s not enough. At least not compared to the cost.

The first time I saw Twilight it was still a pretty rare sight and I spent a good ten minutes rotating my camera around and took a few screenshots. Same with Sunrise, though it does seem a tiny bit less common than Twilight. Bifrost I don’t see much but The Dreamer and Kudzu once or twice. Twilight and Sunrise I’ve been desensitized too however, but they are among the best looking weapons and it helps there are 2 alternatives for people.

What I want to see is an Eternity, then, I will be very very impressed.

This is how i feel as well..waste of time and effort to look honestly pretty bad and generic in my opinion..

I actually agree, and was thinking the same thing today.

They just seem to be really common now, when i first saw them i was like holy…
that’s nice, but now the awesomeness has worn out abit for me, because of the sheer amount of people that somehow found all the time to create one, or just get the gold to buy one straight from the trading post.

Have a friend who has it. Nothing impressive at all, visually it’s identical to the 2 before it and changes based on time of day.

In fact she sorta regretted it because she lost the footsteps when she upgraded.

I think it opens up more room for players with legendaries to appreciate a player with an obscure armor and weapon combo that actually looks good, to their surprise. There really is only a grind barrier to legendaries, but i can make weapon / armor combos that knock some of the more generic, mainstream looking players out of the park.

Envy plays a big role in this. Not saying you are or are not jealous. But subconsciously you get “tired” of seeing them because you notice them more often knowing that for you (or the average joe, not you in particular) they are hard/impossible to get.

Do you get tired of all the molten weapons? CoF sets? AC weapons? Destroyer weapons? Corrupted weapons?
Doubt you notice them most of the time or if you do doubt you think anything of it because if you wanted one you could get it, therefore your envy isn’t telling you to resent it.

That’s just my theory on it, in the end I stand by my point that Foostivoo > any legendary. He solos dungeons for me.

I’ve only seen one person with corrupted weapons, it was some guy dual wielding the daggers which I thought looked pretty cool.

^ this is what i mean; i still havent seen anyone with the foefire greatsword, ive seen two volcanus, two corrupted and… i actually cant recall seeing anyone with a destroyer greatsword… but i know one of my guildies has one, yet ive seen a dozen-ish twilights… that i dont care as much as i feel im supposed to

again; im very attentive/nosy i tend to look at every persons gear as i see them, i refuse to believe i miss them

I think they are completely ridiculous and there is no way I would grind a game to get something like that. I wouldn’t buy a precursor either.

I think it’s great if people want a legendary but not me. I think they did an incredible job with the gear design in this game so I have plenty of easily obtainable skins to choose from.

Nah I’m not offended I have no legendary to speak of nor I want any of the current ones.
Just telling you a player owning a legendary is showing dedication, committment, that he went through some trouble… and I can respect that.

Slingshot is the best legendary bow.

I do like the sling shot.

Incinerator doesn’t do it for me, but I would like to outfit my thief with a pair of the daggers that look like icicles.

Anyone got screenshots of the Koda weapons? …I get the feeling the preview and the reality of those are quite different.

Biggest problem for me in hunting exotic weapon skins is my two 80s are both geared up – I’d rather prep for alts that are comming up that pour too many resources into characters that are already at stat-cap.

I’m not tired of legendary’s but I only saw my first one yesterday- a thief with incinerator in Divinity’s Reach.
I followed her around like a puppy until she teleported away.
I must say though that the footsteps are a bit out of place on a thief.

I would like some diversity in the legendary skins, since many of them are very niche and not what many would expect of a legendary.

I do like the humour though, having a pistol shoot bubbles and flowers instead of some uber weapon of doom is cool, it is kind of like transmuting the wooden sword skin over your 80 exotic.

That’s an assumption that ascended weapons will be (more of) a grind (granted a likely one) more than exotics are for the average player.

Ascended Weapons will be a major grind, trust me on that by looking at the current track record. Especially if the MF has anything to do with it…

That’s quite bullkitten. The reasons you see more Twilights/Sunrises and Incinerators are because: a) Greatsword and dagger and some of the most used weapons in the game after accounting for class popularity AND how many viable classes/builds use them, and b) because some of the very few legendary weapons that actually look good. The three you mentioned are god awful garbled messes.

I thought of entering the quest for a legendary longbow or shortbow at some point, but both The Dreamer and The Kudzu are kittening ugly as kitten. I wouldn’t buy them as exotics let alone put in the time and effort to make them as legendaries. Of the other weapons my other level 80 uses: I’m not fond of The Legendary (there are prettier exotic staves), and both Metereologicus and The Minstrel look ugly as kitten.

That leaves Dagger. Or greatsword/axe once my warrior gets there… Of those the Greatswords are definitely the prettiest.
