Every time I play my elementalist, specc’d for maximum aoe damage, or go farming for materials I find myself longing for the densely packed groups of mobs in Guild Wars. Hostile charr patrolling in groups of four or more, etc. Hopefully we’ll see higher mob density when the game expands into new territories.

I definitely miss mob packs from GW1 .. but since GW2 is essentially a soloer’s game, I don’t think we’ll be seeing packs of mobs composed of multiple professions.

Man, killing those packs with double healer dolyak riders outside of Sorrow’s Furnace was a pain, but you really felt accomplishment when you interrupted their Orison of Healing at exactly the right time. And for some reason I really remember those Heket packs from Nightfall. The Heket were much cooler than the Hylek!

I soloed for more in Guild Wars 1 than I do in Guild Wars 2. No heroes does wonders for my desire to group.

As for the mixed mobs, yeah, I know where you’re coming from and I know why it can’t be done in an open world game.

Of course, theres plenty of mob density in certain dynamic events.

I do miss them, but I understand why they aren’t there in the open world. However I really don’t get why the enemies inside dungeons aren’t like that. More often than not, “trash” mobs in dungeons are just packs of the same mob, or mobs that don’t work together at all…

“We have no first-person view because stupid people would lock into it”
“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”

They could easily reintroduce them and still have them soloable, provided each individual mob was less powerful than regular mobs.

I would love to have packs with a healer, high damage, or high control mob added in. It might make PvE less tedious and boring to actually have to think about what I’m killing.

There are plenty of examples in dungeons of packs of trash mobs that work together. People may not notice, but it doesn’t mean they’re not there.

Take CM for instance. You’ve got the rifle guys who do far more damage to you if you move, but you’ve got the saboteurs who drop red circles all over the place. If you move out of the red circles, you get more damage from the riflemen. In addition, one of the guys, I think it’s the thug, buffs and heals allies, so you want to take him out first.

Dredge have units that work together too. Things were more clearly defined in Guild Wars 1 because you generally knew who was a monk and who was a rit. Things are a bit more amorphous here, but that stuff exists.

Man you mentioned the dual healer packs outside of Sorrow’s Furnace and just took me back a few years. Yeah I miss the multi-profession mob packs from GW1. Doubt we’ll ever see them in GW2, unfortunately.

It seems to be more typical MMO fashion where there’s a random mob every few feet and all the mobs in the area are the same thing.
