aoe looting is coming
Sounds amazingly cool! =)
Unless they actually improve the loot this is rather useless.
I hope this means it’s a 20000 range grab loot. Yup 20000 range.
I’m happy. There’s f2p games that have stuff like this for free.

Not really.
It is quite common to miss quite a bit of loot in WvW because you can’t really stand still in a big fight looking for your loot-bags.

Welcome!
But, I hope the radius is large…
Also, in WvW this does NOTHING to solve the problem of when you die and are surrounded by dozens of loot bags…none of which you will ever get…
While I don’t personally mind picking up all my items one by one (7 years of doing this in GW1 never bothered me, why should it bother me now?), I don’t know if I’ll actually use the ‘loot all’ function. Still, nice for those that would like it even if I don’t. =)

Loot being rather visible in GW1 was a big difference though. Especially those nigh invisible chests with yellows in them …

I don’t have an issue seeing the sparklies denoting a body has loot for me (and I run everything as low as it will go). Maybe that’s just me though…or maybe it’s because I move around like crazy and just note where the ‘search’ options pop up. Don’t really know.
I liked that feature in RIFT
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

Auto area loot would fix this for sure. Just dont wait to pick up the loot untill all baddies are dead.

This is strictly a WvW issue.
imagine the same with those sparkles trampled on by 2 zergs, each casting spells and effects. At that time, you shouldn’t be pressing F all the time either.

Ah see, there’s the disconnect. I don’t generally WvW, and even when I do…I avoid the zergs like a plague (lag kills me every time). So in the smaller group capping, seeing the little bags that pop up by me for kills aren’t hard to see or grab.
Well…. what would you suggest elsewise?
Other options for WvW are:
- Lootable corpses: WORSE IDEA. SO MUCH WORSE. Someone dying in a tower = nothing for you.
- Insta-looting: Great idea… until your bag fills up. Then you are getting more and more stuff during a zerg that you can’t pick up or deal with.
I mean… WvW is a nightmare for looting by design. Unfortunately, that’s how it goes when you can die at any moment.

Not sure who you were addressing Endless, but I’m not against aoe looting.
Although, for WvW the best option might be to just have the loot pop into your inventory directly as a ‘bagged’ item, and those bags then stack. This does a few things:
- You don’t lose loot if you die and it times out or you can’t get to it
- Stacking bags doesn’t clutter the inventory as badly
- When you’re done you can can take the time to open the bags and a$$e$$ (gosh really, dumb filter) what you got
Similar to how ToT bags or Wintersday gifts are simply added to ones inventory during the events in GW1.
I’d be really happy to see this, not least because you probably won’t turn towards the loot to pick it up as you do now. That’s really annoying when you’re wanting to pick up on the run.
Actually that’s a decent idea. I’d suggest suggesting it to them.
And I was just responding to the people saying they were annoyed with WvW looting. I have had my fair share of it too, but I just didn’t see how it could be improved.
Until you told me that. Awesome.
I guess I can take 5 minutes to see if there is a thread regarding it in suggestions and adding my 2 cents.
Honestly, for WvW, they would be better off having a skritt npc at each citadel. If you don’t grab the bag, once it disappears, the contents are temporarily (5 hours from the time it dropped) stored by the NPC. You then talk to the npc to claim your goods.
Alternatively, the space can be limited and if there isn’t enough space, the loot simply disappears when the bag does on the field.

This is the ideal solution in WvW…
The current loot system in PvE perfectly fine, its WvW that’s the problem because the choice is loot or kill enemy…

I’m looking forward to this. It will prevent me from getting constant NPC dialogs come up just because they are close to my loot. YAY ANET!
This sounds great, but what about real autoloot that could automatically pick up loot so we won’t have to press “F” ever again.
With AoE loot I see myself constantly hitting “F” over and over. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great addition that will save us time and some loot, but it would be great if we got autoloot interval of 0.5s or something like that.

Unless someone is really bad at managing their inventory, I don’t see why anyone would not use the automatic aoe loot.

People playing WvW might have issues with this, since we often are out in the field for quite some time without visiting a merchant.

One of the best features they have added yet. I’ve always wonder about all those missed precursors…

Hmm more reasons for those services NPC upgrade, might also help ANet sell more merchant express.

I thought that that Automatically loot all lootable objects in a radius around you is a tittle in options menu.
Great! Now if only loot actually dropped….
Please just make one so that when an enemy drops loot I automatically get it ._.
Well,i’d say it’s about time after 10 months, people have been suggesting to give looting its own key or auto loot everything in wvwvw for an eternity now,and after 10 months they come with this…Im glad its finally being adressed, but 10 months is an awfull long time of suggesting..

You are however assuming that it is an easy thing to add.
For all we know it could have been a rather complex bit of coding involved.

What kind of job do you have? If you do anything with programming, you’d know that such things can take an extremely long time, not necessarily because they’re difficult, but because they’re not important.
Looting mostly works in this game. Changing working systems has last priority. There were far more serious issues to address first. The game is now relatively bug free, at least concerning game breaking stuff. Time to work on the fun stuff. For the same reason, lfg tool is far down on the prio list.

they are working through their list of priorities, it’s good to see progress in this department

This is the best idea.
whole map grab range imo. so if you die on the farthest part of the map and respawn and forgot your loot, you could still get it.
Unless they actually improve the loot this is rather useless.
That’s what I’m thinking. A quick fix would be to include T6 materials in salvages using the non-store bought salvage kit imo so that we can actually get the materials we need.
This however doesn’t work well with their current system for noncrafter types who are stuck like i am on the down side of their lopsided loot system where it doesn’t matter what you do you can’t seem to catch a break from getting DR for five minutes long enough to get anything more then the single daily guaranteed rare from the boss fight.
However it does look like they are learning that you have to adapt to survive in the mmo universe because if you don’t people will leave your game and go where they can actually feel rewarded and have a modern ui.
I agree they should just make it automatic. LOTRO did that and it’s was better then the AOE loot feature in Rift.

What does my job has to do with anything that i have said ? i;m making a comment about something that should have been adressed months ago,if something has been suggested over and over again it would been a good idea to put a bit higher on your priority list. Many people have been annoyed by the fact that when looting you pick up banners start talking with npc’s etc and text bubbles pop up on your screen, its frustrating and has been suggested from the start of gw2.Giving looting it’s own key would have been the best way to deal with this instead of sharing it with the interactive key imo.

Your job has to do with the fact that you seems to think that programming something like this is easy or high priority. Someone that actually DO program stuff would know that things are usually more complicated that they seems.
