trying to decide if i wanna get it and which level i should get…i dont like end game stuff and mostly just login for dailies to work on my AP and do events in fun zones, are most people getting 99$ expansion? pretty much everyone i asked in LA said 99$ is the only one worth getting.

I will be but I don’t know about most people. Many have though.

My wife and I got the base expansion……most of our guildmates got the spendier versions.

Not. A. Chance. For me it’ll be either base game, deluxe, or nothing at all. Time will tell.

I’m not planning to. When I buy it it will probably be the 50$ one. I’m not interested in the mini, guild decorations, finisher, cosmetic glider cover so that leaves the 4000 gems. 4000 gems costs 50$ normally I’m not seeing the savings here since it will be 50 for the expansion and 50 for the gems.

If you want those items and would pay for them then it is a savings, but only if you would buy them.

ya that’s pretty much how i feel, and as far as LA and divinity’s reach goes, we can just say we got the 99$ expansion, half the time you don’t even see the people you chat with to do title checks. and you can just use a good title and mini and say “eh, i like this one better” (personally i don’t like minis at all in MMOs.)

If you where going to get gems anyway, its the best pack, yes. It will give you the cheapest HoT out of the three, when considering their current value. Deluxe is the worst value while basic is the reference.

nah i got the basic cuz i dont need to buy gems (have enough in game gold that i can more or less get anything i want out of the gem store)

if i was a person who buys gems i dont think there is any question that id go with ultimate and skip a month or whatever of gem buying

I got it. I played this game shortly after launch, and felt I got more than my moneys worth of 60 dollars. All the activities I’ve done with past friends and guilds, and all the living content and other content were worth it. I got the Ultimate Edition because I know I’ll be playing this game for a long time. Plus I just like the shinies :x

I’ll let you know from experience they’ll most likely include all the extra features from the deluxe and up in the gem store down the line. If I knew the original gw2 deluxe would have put all of this into the gem store I would never had avoided it.

The Ultimate version is only worth it if you would have ended buying those gems for real money anyway. If you generally don’t do thatm then keep to Standard (and then upgrade to deluxe using gold-bought gems once the expac goes live).

I will be getting the $35 xpac when box sales don’t meet their target and it gets put it on sale.

Anyone that spends $99 o an B2P expansion with unknown amount of content that includes “in-game purchases” as part of the price, is the reason why companies keep doing this type of stuff.

Please do not spend $100 on an expansion. Especially if most of that price is used to support the ridiculous gem prices.

Hell, please don’t spend $100 on a NEW game.

I bought it the moment it was up for sale. $100 worth of it.

I have been and will continue to be one of the ‘whale’ type players when it comes to this game I love. If you don’t like the pricing structure that’s your call, but please don’t tell me how to spend my money. How I spend my money is my business. I like what Anet has done, think they have provided me a great game, and look forward to continuing that relationship.

This hobby is cheaper than every other hobby I have or have had. I have fun in game. That is the value to me.

Have you renewed a hunting license lately, bought a box of ammo or a new rifle, priced a new motorcycle, payed for good seats at a pro sporting event, taken a date out for drinks and dinner. Quibbling over this low price is crazy stupid IMHO.

Anet please put more goodies up in the gem store so I can continue to support this game.

Got the Ultimate package, because I wanted a character slot for the Revenant and would eventually buy 50$ worth of gems (and the glider skin is neat).

I got the deluxe version. the 100$ version is a little out of my current price range.

I’m undecided as of yet.

On one hand, getting $50 worth of gems for half price is nice, assuming you agree with Anet’s pricing of the Deluxe pack. And I do occasionally buy gems for real cash, so said discount is nice.

BUT, I buy a lot less gems than I used to. At one point I was buying a $25 gem card every couple of months, but since Anet’s shift to outfits over armor sets, of which I have little interest in, not to mention the fact that I’ve mostly got my bank and character bag slots upgraded to a level where I don’t really forsee needing much more on that front, $25 lasts me a lot longer. I think the last time I bought a gem card was about 3 months ago, and I still have half the gems left.

Still, I don’t forsee quitting GW2 any time soon, so even if I use them much slower I would probably use them eventually. So yah, still considering getting that gem discount.

The other issue is that the Deluxe / Ultimate edition content is rather… lackluster for me specifically. I don’t do PvP / WvW, so the finisher is basically useless. Likewise, I don’t have a guild, so the guild hall decoration is also useless. I like minis in general, but that specific mini is pretty meh IMO. I tend to gravitate more towards creatures, vehicles, and other such things than characters, so I probably wouldn’t get much use out of Revenant Rytlock. The glider skin is alright I guess, but nothing I’m overly impressed with. The only thing I actually really want out of the Deluxe edition would be the character slot, and even that I’m not in dire need of having right this exact moment. I already have 2 open character slots, and although I was planning on using those for a Warrior and a Thief at some point to round out my characters (having one of each profession), I’m in no great hurry there so I could easily use one for Revenant and grab another the next time they go on sale.
