ascended backpieces require fractals?
i dont do fractals, i lothe most raids dungeons, pve etc. and everything i look at says i need Vial of Condensed Mists Essence, or Glob of Coagulated Mists Essence.
Isnt there anything else?
can someone provide me a list or a recipe for one i can make with just mats? thanks
The easiest/quickest way is if you own LS3. You can get a different from each map from the individual map items you farm there. It does mean doing Pve open world tho.

Agreed, if you own HoT and an episode of Living World: Season 3, then this method is great. While this method does require a bit of time, it should save a lot of gold as a good amount of craftable ascended backpieces are expensive.
A great method I would personally suggest is that if you have Episode 3 of Living World: Season 3 and multiple characters, farm enough winterberries through/around the forest area of that map, a run through that area per character should end up giving you 40 – 50 winterberries, the backpiece only requires 400 berries (along with 5000 Unbound Magic but winterberries also make that easy to get).

Maybe another one somewhere… Easiest to get is the Icebrood horn backpack. The fractal backpack (if you mean the ad infinitum) is BY FAR the biggest pain in the kitten And it’s legendary.

Please note that the Blood Ruby backpack allows you to change the stats with an item you purchase from an in-game vendor for only 100 Unbound Magic. There are also ascended trinkets with this same property.

What the Mystic Forge Equipment page doesn’t show you is that for many of those items(if not all?) there is an alternate recipe that substitutes 250 Bloodstone Dust for the Vial of Condensed Mists Essence. You need to look at that items page to see the alternate recipe. For example:

But if you have Season 3 unlocked, the Living Story Season 3 backpacks and other trinkets are imo, pretty easy to get. And the ones from Bloodstone Fen can have their stats changed with for only 100 unbound magic.

The recipes that include Condensed Mist Essence are for infusing the ascended back so it has a second infusion slot. If you’re not doing fractals, you do not need to do this.
