Guild Wars 2

It’s probably closer to 8 months than 6, but I can’t remember the day I stopped playing gw2 completely.

Anyways, I’m back to check whether things have changed for the better.
So, while I download what seems to be over 10Gb of files, I’d like people to post what’s changed since when I was gone.

I assume ascended tier, which I consider to be Anet’s oath breaker, is still in the game.

So, any good news?

RNG boxes,a lot of minis,people farm champions for fun now.Thats about it.

Ascended gear is time gated and only trinkets, but we are getting closer to actual ascended gear like armour and such.. Apparently it will be craftable.

Berzerker stats are the best for every class. I just came back 3 weeks ago after an 8 month hiatus and have quit again this week. Maybe you’ll fare better.

A lot of temporary content that you’ll never get to see, so really, nothing new for you. There is a content patch going on now though that you can take part in, but it will more than likely be gone soon too like all the other temp content they keep introducing.

Otherwise yeah. More RNG, new minis, couple new skins in the gem store, and a lot (and I mean a lot) of farming/zerging. People are even failing events just to farm them and report you if you try to complete it. Plus new achievements being introduced all the time that are just a grind (click 100 of this, get 150 of this, do 200 of this, etc etc).

They now have a currency wallet as well and all currency is account bound. You can’t deposit money in your bank anymore either, you have to carry it around with you at all times (Anet’s suggestion is for everyone to make one person guilds if they want a savings deposit). There is still way too many currencies either way, and more are being added still. But at least they aren’t cluttering up everything like before. They’ve done several nerfs/buffs to stuff as well and reworked a few professions.

If Ascended gear was Anet breaking their oath to you, than you are going to be even more upset about that. They’ve introduced a lot more Ascended gear since then and have gated it all behind different things. And it’s time gated as well so expect to be farming and waiting awhile before you can get a full set, much more if you are trying to gear your alts too.

But hey. You’re already downloading the game, so might as well give it a check for yourself. No monthly sub so you can jump in whenever.

Two-week PvE upgrades, centered around different things each time. Some more challenging stuff like the Queens Gambit has come out and a lot more farming opportunities for people who like that sort of thing.

XP and passive progression added to WvW, culling ended all over the place…and I’m sure there’s more.

Depending on why you left, it may or may not be better.

You missed a lot of temporary content. The only fun one you missed was Bazaar of the Four Winds though. That one was amazing.

Welcome back! I don’t know what you like to do ingame, but while you’re waiting on that download, these forums are pretty dang entertaining today…

Tbh… You shouldnt come here for advice. The forum is always filled with people that don’t like the game.

But on topic. Not much has changed, since most of the content has been temporary. But there alot SMALL changes! You should go to reddit or maybe find a guild ingame that can help you out. i just know this forum is not the best place

We received many new and highly important items on gem store ranging from 300 to 800 gems. Satisfied?

I’ve been away from the game for months too and, honestly, you’ll be hard-pressed to find any meaningful difference. For some reason, ANet decided to focus on temporary additions rather than permanent ones.

You missed loads and loads of content updates, which were temporary, so you will never ever, ever get to play them…bad luck…some of them were really, really good too…

But we get new updates every 2 weeks so join the Living Story train, to not miss any more.

There has been a lot of good stuff, especially recently. My favourite Living Story parts are:-

1) Flame & Frost dungeon.
2) Rox & Bram instances.
3) Southsun.
4) Gauntlet.
5) Pavilion.
5) Cutscene in seedy DR bar.
6) Invasions.

The Living Story updates are definitely getting better and better…
