bots looting and doing events?
Yes, they are doing events. On the cursed shore (level 80 zone) there are two events that are joined by a tunnel, they each ‘activate’ like every 20 minutes or so. Every time I’ve been there with my level 80 character, there are probably 15 bots on each side, the same people, the same names, the same ‘teleporting movements’, every single time, and they’ve been there for -WEEKS-
All of the bots I’ve seen are only there for Karma and event rewards (coin there). I have NOT seen a single bot (20 reported or so) that loots. I don’t know that any have applied looting yet; so no, bots aren’t affecting TP in any way.

Yes, they are looting, and I’ve confirmed this at the events in cursed shore by placing fireworks and rocks when a pack of monsters dies and they teleport onto it. They instantly will ‘take’ the fireworks or rocks at their feet, and will then hold them for the next few hours.
These bots are gathering loot.

Actually they can set autoloot, and have their “f” key or whichever to pick up all loot. You can test this by going to rata sum and buying the fireworks in the lower chamber (30c or around) and drop them near bots. Many of them will pick it up and then shoot fireworks instead of farm. It’s pretty funny to watch, and there is no expiration on the firework bomb.
ty for informing about the rock idea! I know just where a rock is in cursed to try this and I’m excited to see as it would be funny.
My only reason to state they weren’t looting (least the ones I saw) they never put themselves on top of the enemy. I was watching for them to move onto enemy for auto-loot, however they use ranged and just wander in a circle; never approach an enemy.

Bwahaha, I love the firework idea. I am so trying that out.
I know that mesmer portals work too and you can trick them into teleporting to some hazardous or awkward location. but that works with legit players too during events

Honestly the rock/fireworks trick is a waste of your own time. Yes it works on the bots, but really, whats the point? You’re only impeding their progress for maybe and hour, they eventually die (come back without the rock/firearms) and/or someone checks on the computer and simply removes it from their hands.
The solution here is to have reports on bots be looked into and immediately close down the account. These bots are doing their thing for days/weeks on end, farming crafting material and gold. Wasting your time putting fireworks/rocks in their hands is a teeny tiny nuisance to the botter and only means they rake in 98 gold at the end of the week instead of 100.
The accounts need to be banned and shut down ASAP.
That begs the question why are they relaxing their anti-exploit system…how many legit players were being affected? Maybe the botters have been complaining lol
Honest players were adversely affected by the anti-exploiting system, and it didn’t slow the bots down enough to matter, so ArenaNet backed out the restrictions a bit.
Hopefully, ArenaNet has something else up their sleeves to deal with the rampant botting.

Agreed – I think I have a new hobby in Cursed Shore now.

It would give us something to do other than venting our spleen on the forums. It’s frustrating as heck to watch veritable armies of botters farm an area – something, anything, to do that would even momentarily irritate a botter provides an outlet of some form.
I agree with you – ArenaNet really needs to act, quickly and decisively, to shut down botters – but there is some value in irritating them until then.
Yes, this botting is getting out of control.
I’ve seen them in Queensdale on my new toon and couldn’t even do the event.
There are bot trains cruising around in Harathi interlands, and now Cursed Shore.
Like 8 naked rangers just plowing through stuff.
The sad thing about this are the botters blatantly doing it in open.
I don’t know what you’re talking about, the stack of four naked rangers named Sdsaf, Kfdsa, Ydksf, and Osdfg all with bear pets auto-attacking things are clearly not bots.

The best thing players can do is continue to report every incident of suspected botting behavior they witness using the in-game ticketing system. Thanks for the continued reports and everyone’s patience. It’s greatly appreciated!
